  • This is a walk-around tour/review of my Honda fit ex in Orchid Pearl White. I go over the features and options of the Honda Fit and some comparison of the changes made from 2016 to 2019 to this car. If you are looking for an economical, reliable, compact car with lots of room this car may be for you!
    Honda Magic seats make this hatchback one of the best from 2016 to 2019!

    Starting around 2018 or so they added thicker glass. I think replaced the tempered glass with safety glass. This reduces wind noise. Along with some extra sound insulation, reduces interior noise. Added an electronic control to the electric power steering to compensate for oversteer.

    I bought the "sport" one in the UK back at the end of 2018. All was well for just over 4 years.
    It was an okay drive. Nothing special . Bit noisy at 70 MPH (112kmh). Infotainment system was just about passable. Fuel economy was okay, and it's party trick is that it's quite spacious, with the magic seats.
    But at just over 4 years old, then my low pressure fuel pump went wrong.
    In the USA they had a recall for I'm pretty sure the same model as my one . However Honda UK seems to apparently think that my car was not affected by the major batch of faulty Denso fuel pumps. So I've got a £1200 bill spread over a few garage visits whilst the fault was trying to be found.
    It's really easy to find that there was a massive recall of 700,000 Honda vehicles around the age of my one about Denso low pressure fuel pump failures, but somehow I magically never got one of those, but my fuel pump has gone wrong.
    Honda UK are being really useless.
    I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy another Honda car or motorcycle EVER EVER EVER again.
    Things go wrong sometimes, but Honda UKs abysmal response to me has meant I can never ever trust Honda again.

    The 19 are nice, when in to test drive and buy a 19 .. ended leaving with a 13 sport. Saved 10k almost but these cars are fun to drive and spacious. I was coming from an acura tsx wagon .

    Nice to hear from an actual owner. Maybe I missed it but how many miles are on the Fit? Also, have you had to replace/fix anything? Any issues with carbon build up due to the direct injection?

    I have the same car 70k plus miles, the car always have a delayed acceleration takes almost a second to switch gears from reverse to drive, also when driving if you slow down and want to pick up speed again quickly feels like the transmission gets stuck on a high gear and the car simply won't respond in unexpected situations. I was never happy with this car. I wish had a manual transmission.

      Manual is the way to go! the CVT transmission has lag built in and forces a smooth but slow acceleration not great for responsive take off imo.

    I'm seriously considering trading in my 2017 Corolla LE for a 2019 Honda Fit EX. What is the fuel tank capacity in miles? My Corolla can drive up to 366 with a full tank of gas. Thanks.

    • @hondafitdude
      @hondafitdude  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the tank holds 10.6 gallons I never drive it empty... usually to 1/4 tank and typically average 36-37mpg. I ran it to tank light came on once and it was around 360 with 15 mile range on the comp(less than half the tank) I drive smooth and relatively conservative (no hard acceleration) that helps with gas efficiency a lot!

    • @mikelear8163
      @mikelear8163 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 2019 EX-L and i do only city driving. I'm not driving like gas is expensive and i average around 30 mpg. You can easily get 39 mpg if you drive conservatively. I love the instant mpg meter and it shows me my average mpg on trip a or trip b. The fuel tank range changes based on your driving habits but i generally get between 250-280 miles on a full tank. If you fill up on the low fuel light, it takes about 9 gallons but holds 10.6 gallons.

    I really want to get a 2018-2019 Sport model as a daily commuter for work, but I can't justify the purchase seeing that where I live (MA), the snow or a front wheel drive would not work out well.

    • @hondafitdude
      @hondafitdude  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrPanzerDragoon I don’t get snow here but I though front wheel drive was better than rear for snow? All wheel drive is prob best idea tho!

  • @mikelear8163

    I have a 2019 EX-L and it's nice. My only complaints are how it looks on the outside, the seats aren't comfortable at all, and the arm rests aren't level w eachother nor nor comfortable by any means. Otherwise, i love the navigation and the automatic cruise control. It's great on gas and very zippy. I shopped around for this class of vehicle and this is what i ended up choosing, it is the best in it's class. There is much room for improvement though. I'm a little unhappy with how many flat tires I've gotten since I've purchased it, 5 tires so far in under 20k miles, however i generally don't drive conservatively. I'm thinking about getting smaller but wider rims to improve the look a little and hopefully prevent more flats. I have tinted the back windows to an attempt to make it look better, it does a little. The headlights are bright, the fog lights are bright, but i wish i could run the fogs without the headlights. I removed my daytime running light fuse, i generally run the full headlights when i drive anyway, and i want the option to black my lights out. My other complaint is the blind spot right where the windshield meets that small triangle window on the dash, that is a huge problem.. now i love the gas mileage, the smart cruise, the smart seats in the back or whatever theyre called, it's good for what its made for, its a fuel efficient car for a single person or a couple maybe with a child or just someone that wants to be fuel efficient without sacrificing technology or options. Mine has heated seats, i appreciate that but i wish they cooled as well. I dont really know. This is my first small car, my first foreign car.. im 50/50. My dealership experience was terrible, ill never buy another brand new car from any dealer anywhere. Like i said, there's definitely room for improvement but overall this is the best vehicle in it's class, and it does what it's supposed to.
    Edit: keep in mind tho, i am talking about the ex-l this is the fully loaded version. Lower trims will be lackink the leather, heated seats, sun roof, and most likely navi, smart cruise, and lane departure. Don't settle for the cheap one, buy a used one if that's your only option. Mine has been very reliable so far.

    • @hondafitdude
      @hondafitdude  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike Lear great write up review! I totally agree on arm rests and seats lack comfort. I have not experienced any flats yet... is it from nails or road hazards?? Smaller wider wheels will help the handling. I had 17 x 7.5 for a while and they handled great but lost 3-4 mpg from the bigger diameter. If the seats cooled I would have gotten an ex-l for sure here in sunny California! But overall I am still happy with the car 3 years later.

    • @johndoran1754
      @johndoran1754 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, not the softest seat I've had but fits me ok. Center arm rest might as well not be there. And ya, it's goofy looking. Still love love the weird little thing.

    Difference: you have more videos on the car than he does.
