Great video! I watched the oil change video that Royal Enfield produced. Virtually the same as yours! They made no mention of the mystery plug on the bottom. It may be there for another purpose. I did see someone on a forum saying you don’t have to pull the screen, you can just pull that plug but why would you do that?
Is there a valve adjustment at the first service like the Interceptor?
Also, thanks for recommending the Rode wireless microphone system! I got mine yesterday and it is amazing! Now if I could just figure out how to get what I want from my GoPro😜

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

yeah the microphone is far easier to work than the gopro...lol one always pulled the screen out of the C5 during oil change and sometimes for good reason too.
that filter basket was hard to pull first time with fingers but this time with long nose pliers much easier
      first service is valve check
i actually did mine myself yesterday and its a lot easier to do than when i did the interceptor.
don't believe that crap about pulling the tappet cover gasket and fitting a new one. i didn't just left it on and did the check....twice...lol
put it all back together and it wouldn't fire up...lol
pulled it apart again and rechecked the valves and let the inlet off slightly
put it back together again and then realized i had not seated the sparkplug securely first time round
      what a loser....lol
second time around much quicker too to do too
bike runs far better as it had dropped in power
both inlet and exhaust were tight
even did a video while i was playing about too
      interesting day in total

Great video Warro! I've got a meteor 350 and it's great to see someone else change the oil as regularly as I do and will. Also good to see you use 10w50 semi. My dealer put in 10w40 mineral at 500km service🤷‍♂️ Semi makes a noticeable difference in these engines to me. Keep the content coming mate!

Nice video - also useful for the Meteor 350, which I own. I'm just at my first service and will install a DNA air filter and stage two bracket. Also considering the FuelX Lite fuel injection optimiser from Hitchcocks (downside is it will take the space used by the tool kit). These bikes are far from rockets, but for those who enjoy relaxed cruising they are awesome.

I am surprised how similar the oil drain, filter replacement and screen cleaning procedure generally is to my 2011 Bullet B5. I thought maybe RE would have changed the design of the crankcase on a brand new model more than they did with the Meteor range. I guess they were satisfied with the oil filtering and draining systems of the older UCE models and didn't feel it was necessary to make any major changes, other than bulking up the filter and screen.

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

yeah not a great deal of change apart from the new look filter. nicer finished side cases and better quality bolts bedding it together

Very helpful, thanks! Shopping for oil prior to my initial change in my Classic 350 - RE calls for semi-synthetic specifically. Is there any risk / disadvantage to using FULL synthetic in this engine?
Full synthetic 15W-50 (Liquid Moly Street) is actually $10 less than the semi-synthetic (MOTUL 5100 4T). Just want to use the best, I don't care about the $ difference really.

Top video Warro! I've a meteor 350 and the advised oil is Motul 5100 10w50 semi synthetic. Penrite do a 10w50 motorcycle 4stroke semi synthetic (MC4ST) and it's nearly half the price as the motul!!! Have you any thoughts on the penrite oil I mention? I do my own oil and filter changes on the meteor probably every 3000-4000km and can't justify the cost of the specified oil. Cheers.

Ooohhh! Look at you Wild Bill with the FANCY sexy oil drain pan with its little donger-doodle poking up there for oil filters to let 'em drain! And imagine making a oil pan bright yellow like that! Why it's almost like dropping a steamer on a supine Snow White's spotless apron--you'd almost want to breathily murmur "I shall now besmirch thee" as you pull that drain plug. But I digress mightily... Sadly, while cases of that highly well-regarded Ozzy 'Penrite' brand oil may well be found stacked alongside every damned billabong down there, it's all but "inobtainium" here in The Land of the Plastic Spork. Fun Fact: Unlike me, I know you favor new stuff, but If you DID have some rusty chrome somewhere, that aluminum foil (or "aluminium", if you prefer) and a little vinegar with a little elbow grease will help scrub it clean of those nasty oxides. Or, some folks use Coca-Cola instead of vinegar.

G'day Waroo, l think the oil must be getting to it's extreme heat to be going dark like that with low kms, might want to check against the recommended heat max of the oil and the engine heat after a run, the oil out of my Interceptor after 1500 km was the same colour as it went in, the only other way is compassion gases in the crank case but l don't think so, seems funny it gets so discoloured, what do you think mate?? I plan to change the oil and fitler myself before the next dealer check up at 5000km. At what milage would you suggest to change the oil again before the 5000km check up? and by thw way! id do it at 2,000 klm and oil wise i always measure what i pull out in the first low service and mark the container. rough gues would be 1.7 litres and run the bike for a coupe of minutes and let it rest for say 5 mintes and check the dipstich on total level ground on centrestand

I did Not receive a owners manual when I purchased my 350.
To clarify, first oil change is at 500 klms? VERY ODD, usually they (bikes) are at 1000 klms.
Obviously Different oil filters than the 500 Classic.
Quantity of oil?? Is that about 1.5 litres?? (you had a 3 litre container)
And those 'black gloves', purchased from a auto shop??? Any specific type?
I have done about 470 klms . My oil change is tomorrow!!

yeah just go to a autopart store and look for nitrile gloves. i wish i had used them and face masks over the 20 year period i did full re-sprays on the cars....but thats how it goes.
just drop the oil and put in it a clear container and mark the side. do a cross reference if you have another - i use milk container. if not drain it out and give it a swish with new oil and drain it.
put the oil in -start on centre stand and run for a minute or two. check sight glass and add i required.
now heres is where lots get it wrong. they say put x amount in and check sight glass and take to roughly the top level. thats is true in one way so good there BUT what thy fail to say is- if for example where i do my back yard verandah clips- i bet i can put the bike in 4 different spots within 10 feet and get 4 different readings.
done it many times on 500's best bet is to measure and get it right and next time you do the oil change-you do it in the exact spot with bike sitting exactly as it had before.

I have no faith in synthetic blend oils after working in the industry. There is in reality zero guidelines and controls over what qualifies as synthetic blend. There are companies that can add any small amount they want to a barrel and call it blended. Either full synthetic or full conventional. Any claims can be made about blends but there are no industry wide standards.
