My Royal Enfield classic 350 gets a DNA stage 2 combo performance air filter upgrade install

  • I will give a review or should I say my opinion in a week or so after I’ve ridden with it for a little bit…. Stay till the end for a little extra
    www.e-dnafilte...
Wait to install it until the bike has been sitting awhile, you want the engine dead cold. After installing your new filter Let the bike run for 15 minutes from cold with no reving! This allows the bikes ECU to recalculate the air fuel mixture needed in order to maximize the performance of your new higher performance air filter. After the 15 minutes go for a ride, if you notice anything strange go home, pull the filter out, wait for the bike to once again be dead cold and repeat the process, doing this should solve any issues you may have had with the first attempt, you shouldn’t have any issues but on the off chance you did The old “Did you turn it off and on again?” Should correct it. Regardless, don’t worry, there won’t be any damage done, you just won’t be getting every once of performance out of the new filter yet but it wouldn’t have hurt your engine.
Now yes these ‪@DNAHighPerformanceFilters‬ are anything but cheap, I paid $115 for the filter and cover as a combo kit with free shipping and no tax but and it’s a big but, if you clean and re-oil these filters regularly, it’s likely to last the life of the bike and considering that the ‪@royalenfield‬ air filters are around 30 bucks a pop if you plan on keeping your bike for awhile, this will likely be cost effective in the long run and even if you decide to sell your bike, you can likely recoup what you spent by using this upgrade as an incentive to get a couple extra dollars (or whatever currency your country uses) out of the new buyer.

Anyways, just saying we love the DNA kits and have had them on our Royal Enfield Classic 350's for ~200 miles. Sounds great, feels great, and I am getting between 90-10MPG here.

whenever you touch the way air flows in the engine you NEED to tune the engine to use it well. While installing this you should have also gotten the fuelx ecu tune so you can set it to also use a bit more fuel.

Has anyone seen any actual numbers on this? There are plenty of opinions on that it gives a "noticeable" gain at certain revs, especially with the addition of a louder muffler. Do you really get a better 0-100km/h time, or is it just that it "feels" gruntier?
Filter kit, de-cat pipe and the ad-on fuel management box isn't too much money if they actually make some difference, but it's a hard call when there's no firm facts to lean on for a decision.

I recently purchased the DNA filter and cap for my 2023 Classic 350 and can honestly say, it feels as though it is an entirely different bike. Not only does the stock exhaust sound much deeper and throaty but significant power delivery. I did installed when bike was 100% cool and once installed let it idle for 15 minutes without touching the throttle. I did have a fan running at front of bike to move air over cylinder. Highly recommended this mod.

Hi Steve. I have heard different opinions about these filter kits. Some say that, to get the full benefit, you need to fit the de-cat exhaust but others say that, just fitting the new filter and cap makes a big difference. Hey Dave, I can tell you one thing that I know for sure before even going on a ride, more cold air is always better. So regardless, I’m expecting an improvement I just don’t know if it will be noticeable, but definitely better for the bike. Having a more efficient exhaust is always better, I do not think at least right now that I am going to change the exhaust I was thinking about going to a 16 tooth sprocket, but since I do more low speed than top end I’d actually be hurting my performance by changing the gearing and the only other thing that I’m considering right now as a possibility is getting myself a fuelx but talk about a mixed bag results… I plan on going for a decent ride either tomorrow or the next day just to see if I notice any difference. Next video will be a Shorty, my thoughts on the DNA upgrade and the rear peg block offs, oh, and the side box sticker removal… OK so maybe not that short then 🤣

@@LeveyAngeles Thanks Steve, for another comprehensive and informative answer to my comment. I think the DNA stage 2 combo is looking very likely for me but not sure about the exhaust, at least not yet. Here in the UK, especially in the wet West Country, our riding season is pretty limited, from now until about March, so the exhaust can wait until next year. Agreed about the 16-tooth sprocket. Haha yes, maybe not that short.

Intrigued to know how you managed to get the socket wrench on the 17mm socket to remove the rear pegs? When I did mine a few months back, I had to grind 2 flats on the socket, and use an open ended spanner to loosen the nuts, as there was no room behind to fit the socket wrench.🦄

Hello H&R, I think, knowing what I know now that is the combination I would choose. My guess is that you did not allow the ECU to reset. I would say let the bike go dead cold, then put the oem back on and run the bike for 15 minutes without touching it just at idle which hopefully will reset everything then let the bike go dead cold again pull the stock cap back off and put on the DNA cap, and repeat the break in process, run the bike for 15 minutes without touching it. Hopefully, then the ECU will recognize the air. Fuel mixture is different and you won’t have the problem you’re having now. 🤞🏻
