  • GLC - Eliminate Expensive, Hard Riding, Run Flats Tires by adding a Spare Tire and Jack to the vehicle.
The spare I used is from a W164 ML350. Part number A1644000002. It worked on my GLC43, however, I cannot know if it will fit your vehicle. My research indicates all GLC rim sizes have the same outside tire diameter size of 28.5 inches.

Agreed-simple great video, the lack of the spare is really frustrating at this price point. Your details are so helpful, even the lug bolts are addressed, thanks. TK

I haven’t found a spare tire for my 2015 GLA250 4MATIC, but today I bit the nail and said goodbye to Run Flats! I am very impressed and loving the SMOOOOOOTH ride on new 235/45R-19 95v DYNAPRO HP2’s. Now to find a compact reliable spare to just stick in the boot.

Glad to hear. I’m looking forward to saying adios to my run flats. I’m I’ll setup - I just need them to wear out!

Hi Ed, thanks for a great vid. I own a GLC 250d and use non run flats. You have to deflate the air from your spare tire for it to fit in nicely.

    Great video.
Do at your own risk just fyi.
Was able to get a ml spare from a junkyard.
The hanger alignment bolt makes tire changing easier.
Rubber jack pads also help. Will even work with non Mercedes jacks.

Where did you purchase the 48mm 14/1.5mm lug nuts can’t find 48 mm length top to bottom. The closest is 45mm

I cannot remember where I purchased the lugs but after a search I found this source:

Are u sure they clear rhe AMG brakes? I just tried them on my front AMG rotors and calipers and they will sit on the wheel hub but they will wear a grove out on your calipers. Unless youre rear brakes are smaller than the front brakes this sparw will only fit on the rear brakes.

Edit...i will not put them on my front wheels. If i get a flat on front i will remove the rear wheel, move it to the front and put rhe spare on the back wheel. Morw work to do but it will get me out of a flat situation

This morning I reinstalled the spare on my front wheel. Sure enough, while there is clearance on the outer facing side of the caliper, there is not enough clearance along the inside of the rim. Thank you so much for pointing this out on the AMG models! I like your solution of putting the spare on the rear and moving the rear wheel to the front when you have a flat on the front. Please see my followup video for further details on the AMG: th-cam.com/video/_hUXPHpeSoE/w-d-xo.html

Not sure. One option is to go to a source that specializes on spare tires and accessories like modernspare.com

I have 30k miles now and the original Goodyears are still good. Can’t bring myself to replace them until needed. I have read other forums where people replaced them when new. Everyone who does say the ride is much better. I’m ready to go . . .
