I am continually working on something around the house including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and automotive. I recently purchased a 1956 Chevy Apache pickup truck so be on the lookout for projects like adding fuel injection, new steering column, and upgraded brakes. The house will be getting new Pella fiberglass windows soon too!

After a number of years the rubber oil cooler lines can break resulting in total loss of oil and trashing the engine. This procedure replaces the rubber lines with a metal one. I used the factory upgraded part which at the time of this video was $60. Aftermarket lines are $30 but I felt the extra $30 is good insurance on such an important part.

Had a problem with mine, on the adjustment part of the main window... its a little canted / doesn't sit level
Did you have to put your glc in some sort of jacking mode to keep the air suspension from self leveling?
Make sure that with the vent tube you plug the other vent opening on the other side of the battery. The positive plastic cover that comes with the battery usually has a little plastic plug molded to the cover. You break this off and shove it into the opening on the other side where the vent tube goes. This allows the battery to off gas through the vent tube harmlessly instead of escaping into the engine compartment (battery gasses are flamable)
I always turn off the stop/start feature on my GLC43. And it's a good thing to turn off on *ALL* cars that run turbos. The reason being is that Turbos run hot...really hot. And they use the engine oil to not only lubricate the turbo, but to also help cool the turbo. So when the engine stops, that hot, hot engine stops in traffic, so does the oil flow. But the turbo is still spinning...it's slowing down, but it's spinning. It doesn't instantly stop when the engine stops. This turbo is spinning in oil that is not circulating. This oil it stationary in this super hot turbo and doing something called "coking" which turns the oil into a solid which clogs up oil passages. So, for turbo engines, never allow the stop/start system to be active. A neighbor has to get his turbos replaced in his GLC300 and it was $8k! YIKES!
Great job thank you . I just bought mine but the forward doesn’t lock in . Reverse does . I guess it’s broke already 😂. Or I live with it and hold it forward.
THANK YOU! I have this same car and have been wanting to change the oil myself like I did with previous cars. Really, really appreciate your video instruction.
Does the 4 port adapter reduce performance?
Thank you good information
Do you resurface the rotors or get new ones when pads need changing?
@@arielrodriguez6980 generally it is best practice to get new rotors. Others may chime in but I don’t know anyone who turns rotors anymore. In my case I was confident the rotors were still good. This was a low mileage car that I only changed the pads to eliminate the brake squeal.
Thank you
Thank you
Ty sir Nice vid. Just bought a 2020 for wife 20th anniversary. Need to buy thatctool now, be blessed 🤙
Excellent video. Commendable. Would've like to see the cleaning of the surface and gasket replacement. subscribed.
I also have a 2018 GLC43 but only have 13K miles on it. Nice to see that at 30K miles those pads have so much left to them...One question though, don't you have to put the brakes into maintenance mode before you work on the front brakes?
Maintenance mode retracts the rear parking brake mechanism. So only for rear brake work.
When replacing these batteries, the BMS should be reset with a scan tool so that the control unit recognizes the new battery. you can get away with it, but it's not the proper way to replace them.
Yes, I should have combined these two videos: th-cam.com/video/NRH6_JTGm2M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YFNiyTnumz0RFrWw

@ sorry not the belt I meant that plastic cover.
@ahhh - I did not get a new cover - I used the old one.
@ any idea what that cover part number is did you see any writing on it?
Is the Amazon part still ok after you made this video? I know it's way cheaper than OEM. Any issues with it? 😊
@@myaprilia07 Good question! Still working fine as of today.
Ed, Just purchased a Foxwell NT 710 scanner and and had the same issue, not knowing not to go into BMS (Battery management system). Followed your Great vid of how to do this registration and worked perfectly. Wanted to Post, so others out there will know that the NT 510, NT 530 are all capable of this reset or registration as the NT 710 is the upgraded version of the two with a few more bells and whistles. I performed this registration on both 2018 GLC-43 AMG and 2019 GLC-300 with in minutes and fixed everything just fine.
I just put one in my 70. Haven't started it yet.
I have an AS30 compressor head i need help getting the compressor pump part removed from the motor shaft .
Good info, well edited. Thank you!
crazy, my porsche was super intuitive to reset the battery service with my icarsoft scanner. I'd have never found this and im about to replace the battery in our GLC43 because we're getting the battery starter notification when we start the car now.
Good information on the nuts and bolts of assembly, thanks for documenting and sharing!🏆
Appreciate it
nice job
Wow!
After market parts don't fit
This MB battery charging behavior compromises the battery warranty. It does not make sense. MB is screwing with customers, IMO.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!
So the 700 is longer than the turbo 350?
Depends on how long the tailshaft on the 350 is. It's same length as a 9".
Thank you for sharing the video, but my question is, which is a way that needs to be turned to unscrew the propeller. Thank you.
Thank you for the video sir! That answered almost all of my questions for my future project. Hopefully others will get some help from it as well.
what size was the disk for the spinner did you use
Anyone know how much the dealership charge to replace rotors and brakes per axle for this model? Wondering since I am looking to possibly purchase this car…..
I have the GLE 43 just a bigger version of the GLC model and my first front brake job was easily $1500 from the dealership. Once I looked over the bill its the same thing as that $1500 A & B oil change the parts are a decent price but they kill you to death with that HOURLY RATE !!! . Now I always ask my service manager to tell his boss to give me a deal on that rate charge and usually I get a small one. But the truck still under warranty and the dealer gives 2yrs warranty on anything they repair or replace. If you don't have a factory warranty to worry about voiding you can give AUTONATION MOBILE SERVICE a look up on the internet. I have them take care of the brakes on my BMW for way cheaper than the dealership since its out of warranty and they provide a warranty for the part and work plus they come to my hs to take care of it. Gd luck 😊
If you go with Mercedes parts, and purchase them after market, expect $900 per front rotor, $700 per rear rotor. Pads about $100 front and $100 rear. Then consider a couple hours of labor. You may get away with $3,500 to $4k when all is said and done. You may be able to get a different brand rotor and pads. Brembo makes a nice rotor, but always get the Ceramic pads.
Insight! I love the fact that he tested it to discover the lug bolts or too short! Genius! Can you imagine having a flat only to discover your spare tire would not mount properly?
Thats amazing ..thankz for show us.. i wish you have showed us how you close the gap to make the frame solid.
@@desmondmakgatho2479 I recall I put in a screw through the side of the metal frame into the jamb. Placed the screw through the opening for the door latch so it is not visible. Every door will be different but that worked for me.

Why do we buy a cheaply made Chinese starter just to shave grind sand drill shim just to try and get it to work
Iam going to stretch my header and put stock starter because that starter doesn't fit a waist of money
Much thanks. This really helps
Worked great till the DRUM CABLE part # 10 broke. It pulled the stop spring through the feed and almost sent the whole cable down to the neither. 😮 Now I can't find a replacement. Worked great till I BROKE IT. 😢
My motor went bad, I can’t figure out how to remove the bearing to remove the motor. Any suggestions
13 RX here replaced the struts.. ow i ab tearing apart the steering to check what is happening. They should be correcting this problem. Stealer wants 3K to fix????
I hope you don't have the same issue I just had with my 2009. The CVT pully fell off at 80 on the freeway. Trashed the motor. Also watch out for the rubber oil lines if they have not been changed yet.
Is the rear brake pad change the same in your glc 300 as it is for the glc 43 amg?
Hi what size is the oil filter cap remover and where did you get it?

Thank you that was helpful and I wished I got to watch the whole thing maybe fast forwarded
Does yours have a drain plug?
Who did you get the new parts from?
