    One of the best videos I've seen, attention to detail was great, even down to washing off the spillage. As everyone should do it! Well done.

    Nice video very informative. I've done a few of these in various cars and vans on this engine .Nobody seems to mention on TH-cam on very important thing .When tensioning the tensioner it's very important to have it lined up correct and torqued correctly. The reason for this is the tensioner needs both right for the tensioner to stay put .25 nm-27nm and spot on .More torque on the nut and the slider will move less and it moves .

    I used to work for Peugeot years ago doing timing belts all day. Been working in a bodyshop now for over 15 years so don’t do them now. But my 308 is due timing belt I was gonna pay someone to do it but just came across your video and I’m gonna do it myself. Save me a bit of cash. Thanks

    Thanks for the clarity mate! Just ordered a 390mm Goodyear bottle jack to lift the engine properly for 39€ shipping incl and a set of pins that costed just 10€, the same as yours but everything on Amazon shipped with PRIME. I will do it outside when I get my parts, I have a 2015 Peugeot 508 which is almost at 180.000km, time to change. If I could replace a turbo on the same engine on my old 407 ands the particulate filter I think the timing belt won't be rocket science!
    They want 350€ here in NL for this job to be done (excl. parts), with the set of tools I have and these 2 nice additions, I will get away with less than 200€, I find it nice. Keep it up!

    Helped me out, no timing pins cool , as i had a suspected seized fuel pump that had a bad winning sound when running but it turned but with hard resistance, so i watched your fuel pump and it seemed to rotate easily mine would not have, as it was very stiff, so this proved my pump was binding and braking down, thanks great video.

    Thanks for the video really helpful.
    I would put a note about *never* mixing incompatible coolant liquids. People tend to follow color only but that isnt really indicstive anymore.
    Peugeot IIRC recommends any "lobrid" coolant but better stick to their B71 5110 spec, which many brands sell.
    This one is usually dark blue but my 308 also came with yellow liquid from factory like this one.

Makes me want to go back to daily a first generation fuel injected Volvo. 😅 Absolute garbage vehicles we're making these days. Anyway, thank you for taking your time to make this video. Great video, very informative!
    I've got the same engine in a fiesta, but alongside having to do my belt, im also needing to replace the magnetic pickup ring due to the car not cranking over and showing a fault on the crank sensor. I'm yet to get started, but would you be able to give a heads up on how the magnetic pickup ring comes off? Can't seem to find any resources.
    I'm guessing It just pulls out? Though, I want to be sure so that I can be prepared ahead of taking the car apart. Knowing my luck I'll need some random obscure tool or part!

    • @diydaly
      @diydaly  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The ring comes part of the bottom pulley mate , it’s easy to swop over nice the belts off though .. might to need a little knock to crack it off

    • @thatperson8586
      @thatperson8586 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@diydaly Managed to get it off, always seen people say to be careful with it, so I was hesitant to whack it too much. But It did need a few small whacks.
      Cranks over and starts all good. Used a magnetic film on both parts and the large magnet on the ring was more or less oval, the new one was nice and square. Ended up taking a lot longer as the damn upper engine mount bolts were rusted and I had to order a bolt remover. Glad thats sorted, now on to cleaning the intake manifold and swapping the gearbox (If I can even find one!)
      Cheers
