    i have combination skin. I don't have acne or any pimples. however, i do wake up with an oily t zones. i have some Whiteheads & blackheads (not too much), the pores around my t zone is a bit enlarged (but again, not too much).
    so, can i use this? or will this be too drying/stripping for me?

      I recommend using a non-exfoliating acid cleanser (like CeraVe Foaming Cleanser) instead. Additionally, you may want to use a Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Toner or Serum, and/or a Niacinamide Serum. The advantage of these products is that you can apply them specifically to the area you want to treat.

      For blackheads, I recommend extraction; everything else will likely not show any results. For the rest, you could try using the cleanser. If you want to use a moisturizer, then consider their new Ultra-Light Moisturizing Gel.

      I appreciate your suggestion and understand where you're coming from. With the overwhelming number of serums and niacinamide products on the market, it can indeed be helpful to have recommendations. However, I find it challenging to single out a "favorite" product because each formulation has unique properties and may serve different needs.
      Rather than simply promoting a "favorite," I believe in educating on the individual characteristics of each product and how they can cater to various skin types or concerns. This way, you can make an informed choice that best suits your skin.
      Please feel free to suggest any specific products you'd like me to discuss or review.

    Hi Melissa ! I’m new to the channel. This is my skincare routine. I also think I have a “balanced” skin type. But I do struggle with closed comodones, and whiteheads every now and then
    Morning:
    Cerave Renewing SA Cleanser
    Snail Mucin Power Essence
    Hyaluronic Serum (From Good Molecules)
    Niacinamide Serum (From Good Molecules)
    CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion
    Black Girl Sunscreen
    Night:
    Softymo Cleansing Oil
    CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser
    Hyaluronic Serum
    Niacinamide Serum
    CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol
    CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
    What are your thoughts ?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would suggest skipping the moisturizer, the other products should provide enough hydration. From my experience, it can be too heavy, even for normal skin types, and may contribute to more closed comedones. But apart from that, it looks good. 🙃

I have dry cheeks and forehead , normal to oily t zone and around the mouth. Started using retinol recently but only every 2-3 days and have had small breakouts on the cheeks from it. Yes, it's also not a bad option, and some people seem to like the new CeraVe - Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser. That could be another option for you. • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm... I wouldn't, as it can make your skin pretty dry over time. Unless you have really oily skin. No, there is no need to leave it on the skin. Rinse it off immediately after massaging it all over your face and/or neck.
      Why do you want to double cleanse with it? I suggest using a balm or mild hydrating foaming cleanser at first and then following with your SA cleanser - if you need to do the double cleanse.

    Hey Melissa :))
    Thank you for your videos.
    I’ve recently started my skincare routine and I’m a bit desperate… My main goal was to nourish my skin and minimise my dark clogged pores on my nose and forehead. My skin is pretty sensitive on my cheeks and I tend to have some dry patches in winter…
    So i guess I have combination skin type?! :-)
    I bought this cleanser 2 weeks ago and after my first use I had some red patches on my cheeks which burned a little.. I kept on using it and it got better :-) Some nights I used the Cerave Oil to foam cleanser. Butttt I noticed a lot of red pimples on my forehead and even on my nose. They get red after cleansing and the area seems a tiny bit swollen?
    I also bought the Cerave Moisturising Lotion for dry to very dry skin. If I’ll apply it to my face after using the cleanser it burns soo much I have to wash it off.
    My old cream seems to work fine.
    I’m wondering If I should stop using these products or if they are giving me hints about what’s wrong?
    I’ve read something about purging - maybe that’s what’s causing the breakouts…?
    I also wanted to add the SKIN1004 Centella sun scream to my routine, as well as the CORXS BHA Power Liquid. I’m also thinking about buying the cerave retinol serum.
    Sooo - if anyone can help me I’d greatly appreciate it ☺️🙏🏼✨

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's certainly possible that the cleanser is making your skin more sensitive due to its salicylic acid content or another ingredient in it. To determine the cause, you could try another formulation with salicylic acid to see if you have the same reaction. However, if you find it doesn't suit your skin, it might be best to discontinue use. I can't pinpoint the exact issue as there are many potential culprits.
      You might consider trying the CeraVe Oil to Foam Cleanser to see if there's any improvement. If it helps, you could then use it in combination with the lotion. Alternatively, you could revert to your old cleanser and then reintroduce the lotion, giving your skin a few days to adjust. There are several options, and it might take some experimentation.
      Furthermore, if your skin is already sensitive, adding the BHA power liquid could exacerbate the issue. I recommend returning to your previous regimen for a few days. Once your skin stabilizes, introduce products one by one, using each consistently for a few days to pinpoint any potential irritants.

      Dear Melissa, thank you for your detailed response. I stopped using both products and my skin has cleared up! :-) I got pretty bad pimples on my forehead while using them… I checked both Cerave products (the lotion burned pretty badly) and another serum I can’t use due to occurring redness etc. They all contain hyaluronic acid… Seems like I’m allergic to HA? They also all contain Phenoxyethanol, but since it’s a commonly used preservative in cosmetics I think I would’ve found out sooner…
      Do you know about any good cleansers that don’t contain HA? :-)

      @@anna-bj3rf Glad to hear that! Yes, Phenoxyethanol is a controversial ingredient. I'm currently investigating preservatives that might trigger my acne, not just in skincare products but also in food. Everything I've researched indicates they can indeed be problematic. If used in high amounts, it could also pose an issue - I'm really not certain. It's quite intriguing!
      I'm skeptical that you're sensitive to Hyaluronic Acid. However, it's plausible, especially if used in higher concentrations. After all, each person's skin has its unique sensitivities, or they can develop over time. Still, I lean toward preservatives being the primary culprits.
      I'm fond of the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser, and my favorite retinol formulation is the Good Molecules Gentle Retinol Cream. I showcase it in many of my videos! 🤪

      Thank you!! Yeah, after checking the ingredients again and the order in which they’re listet, I as well came to the conclusion that Phenoxyethanol might be the issue… :')
      It’s crazy because I’ve used multiple products, not regularly but often enough to experience an irritation but Cerave made it happen 😂
      The products all contain more Phenoxyethanol than HA so you could be right! And it’s great that you’re taking care of your skin an well-being and pay attention to your body’s signals..
