we don't deserve Katy Manning, she's a gem I love her
Forget favourite companion, she's my favourite human
@@awsmmediaguy me too... such a ray of sunshine
She will always be my all-time favourite companion. Jo embodies the audience, so well.
@@richardconnold8060 Absolutely! I just love how normal her character is and yet so adventurous :D If you're ever lucky enough to meet Katy as well, she really seems to be so nice with every fan she meets :)
She hugged me once when I was 12 or 13.. best day of my young life
I know we had The Sarah Jane Adventures, why not The Jo Grant Adventures? Would love to see that!
*They’d need to bring her back in a Doctor Who-episode, but I TOTALLY AGREE!*
@@patchworkfellow With UNIT disbanded I have the perfect way she can come back. Listen to this: The Doctor discovers an invasion...again and manages to get a hold of Kate Stewart's private number. She tells the Doctor that she can't bring UNIT back but will try to find a way to help. Cue Bessie arriving with Kate, Jo, Mike and Benton as Kate decided to ask help of some of her father's 'old friends'.
Agreed. I always thought that the BBC should have had Katy Manning succeed Elisabeth Sladen and kept the show going. There could even have been a learning aspect of dealing with grief of the kids.
@@timrob12 Getting the return of Bessie would be amazing. Now I wanna see whatever Doctor that appears in that episode to say "Let's see if I can still drive you, Bessie. I hope my muscle memory hasn't left since my 3rd incarnation." Mind you, the current state of Doctor Who needs the timeless children to be noncannon, but we can work around it.
@@captainsinclair7954 My whole Timeless Children theory involves mind wipe both on the part of the timeless children and the Ruth Doctor (who is NOT a Timeless Child, by the way). It's a complicated idea, but Who never likes the easy route.
“Are we ever going to have a normal weekend?” 😂
I love how it's such a casual inconvenience to him
"Oh no"
Lol
@@Mario-us5xm “Anyways...”
@@thomasw4422 seems pretty standard for britain
Can we get a spinoff with Jo and Cliff battling aliens? Would make a great substitute for SJA.
Yea I would like this
I’d love that!
@Scotty Bee There are classic fans that like the new stuff, you are allowed XP
Cant see a reason for why not she could be the 1014th...
Brilliant, I fully support this idea!
These guys scared the hell out of me when I was a kid.
As a kid??? I'm terrified at nearly 30 now!
Jo's alright, but Cliff did used to scare me.
Me too!
@@lapelcelery42 *I think they... we’re talking about the Autons...*
The original Autons terrified me so much I couldn't go near a shop dummy for years after.
John Levine happily exclaiming when he sees Bessie at 1:45 was the sweetest thing I have ever seen.
Katy Manning is one of the nicest people I've ever met. I met her at a con.
*This honestly gives me “Louise Jameson whacking a Voc Robot”-vibes and I love it*
Just realised that the reason Sacha and Anjli aren’t separated by a screen is because they live together
The Master and (the) Rani cohabiting.:)
@@glenmcculla6843 *high five*
yeh i found out the other day randomly that they were together, it was an unexpected surprise tbh
Or maybe as two young healthy adults they know they have a 99.95% chance of not dying if they get covid-19. Most pathetic pandemic ever.
@@desperatemohammedantheworl5833 Nice tinfoil hat randomness, dude.
Petition for Jo Grant Adventures
I would love this
1014th would be better fit.
Yessss jo Grant's a legend
Definitely
Bring Katy Manning back for another episode!!! She is brilliant... and if Jack can come back let’s get some old school companions back... she’s great here!
Or the Season 9 blu-ray release...
Maybe bring back carol Ann ford
I kept hoping they'd bring Ian Chesterton back when Clara was teaching at Coal Hill, but they let that ship sail. A real wasted opportunity.
@@AubreySciFi Absolutely, he could have had a cameo in the 50th as something. Bringing Sarah Jane back worked brilliantly and there are some great classic companions that deserve the same treatment.
and/or make Iris Wildthyme canon.
Jo has always been one of my favorite companions. She’s just so adorable. Even now she’s just adorable ^^. Love the 3rd doctor and her adventures
I love these season collection adverts. It fleshes out the universe in small ways organically.
Jo Grant has her own bannerman road style house Katy Manning is a gem I’m glad she’s still active in Doctor who even if it’s just a promotion
she's gotten plenty of work with Big Finish audiodramas both as Jo and as Iris Wildthyme transtemporal adventureuse and alcohol afficionado.
If there was ever evidence we need a Jo Grant Adventures series with the SJA gang in it, it's this.
Phew... just managed to pre-order before the trailer dropped... lucky lucky lucky haha
My grandad restored and painted Bessie for Dr Who. My dad got to sit in the drivers seat
Yeah and my Grandad told Verity Lambert to cast Hartnell as the first doctor. lmao.
My granddad changed the light bulbs on the original TARDIS time rotor.
My grandad played the Doctor. My dad played the Doctor. My mum was on the show too.
Amateurs. I AM The Doctor from the future.
@@IanIsSwag ...Nice way to kill the theme.
Katy Manning: the gift that keeps on giving ❤️
Okay can we get a tv show of Katy Manning being awesome please?
Yes I hope so if BBC’s keep making doctors who they should make jo her own tv show
This is quite honestly the best promo mini-story they've done yet! (Although my heart is still with Louise Jameson's appearance in the trailer for the S14 collection.) Katy Manning is WONDERFUL!
Sacha Dhawan doing the Behind the Sofa in his character's debut season! I love it!
It makes sense to have Sacha Dhawan in the Behind the Sofa special since it’s the 50th Anniversary of the Master with this boxset 😊💙💙
I think there is a new commentary with Kismet-Roger Delgado's wife/widow on all episodes with Toby Hadoke
People who never seen the old series: "oh my god it's the autons their back!"
Lol
I mean the nestene and autons im general are a kind of one trick pony
R.I.P. Stewart Bevan
A great celebration of the 50th anniversary of this season!
I love the effort you put into making these short stories to advertise the boxsets!!!
This is the most recent appearance of the Autons since 2010. I feel like they should come back, because they are clearly perfect for the modern era.
Since they either made new props or dusted off some old ones, I think we may see them soon enough...
Imagine if the Autons were in a pandemic episode and handed out facemasks to suffocate people like those flowers in the old serials?
@@PlanetZoidstar That would be terrifying, though I feel like it would breed more anti-mask people, which we don't need more of in this world.
when did they show up in 2010?
@@jimbogreen7029 The Pandorica Opens, where they’ve ditched the shop window dummy aesthetic for full on human replication - Rory was technically an Auton in that two parter before the Doctor rebooted the universe.
lovely touch having the pic on the wall of Jo and 3rd Doctor ♥♥♥
Katy Manning's acting in this is brilliant
Well she learnt from Jon Pertwee after all.
As someone that has an unease around old ventriloquist dummies, I think the Autons would have freaked me out as a kid.
RIP Stewart Bevan
The fact cliff makes a return is amazing
That's it, I'm in love! Katy, Sacha, Anjli, Stewart (again! Big Finish, do something with him), John Levene... Amazing!
They should make this promo an actual full length episode!
Katy is like the Fairy Godmother of DW 👉💥🌼🌼👹🌼🌼👹⚡️🧚🏻♀️
Fantastic!
Probably my fave trailer for The Collection Series so far, excellent work by all involved! :D
Next to Sarah Jane, Jo is like the ultimate companion.
One of the best seasons. Terror of the Autons was my first 3rd Doctor story. The scene with the black chair terrified me as a 6 year old. Add to cart!
Forget the chair (which was certainly disturbing) The Master himself (as played by Roger Delgado) is what scared the living daylights out of me. Although Autons does chock up the highest body count in a DW story at that time and in my opinion has some of the most disturbing deaths!
@@Super_Mario128 Pardon?
"SCIENCE, not guns!" (Mumbles into jumper) "and Venucian Aikido...mrmph mumble mumble..." ;D
The whole "The Doctor hates guns" is revisionism created by RTD. He is the one with a REALLY apparent disdain for the military . He just put his ideas into the Doctor's mouth. The Doctor's message is " Use your brain first" "Science before irrational thinking" . That analysing situations often brings a more efficient solution than simply blowing stuff up. He is always chastising The Brigadier for always wanting to simply use a bigger gun to solve a bigger problem. The Doctor believes in self defence. He is proficient in countless forms of martial arts. From Venusian Aikido to archery , swordsmanship and marksmanship. Stepping back before making a move doesn't mean you hate fighting . Being a pacifist also doesn't mean you can't fight. It just mean you are willing to consider other alternatives until there's no other way but to stop the threat ( Not just blindly barging in guns blazing).
I'm so relieved that the Collection range is back! Katy Manning being lovely as ever and I'm really enjoying these short films involving her and Stewart Bevan as Cliff :) They definitely deserve their own series!
Petition to bring back Katy Manning in an episode of Nu Who. Like to sign.
YES
Yes
Yes and they should have kept the Sarah Jane Adventures going with Jo as the new lead. The exasperated husband would have been great comic relief.
No, Who is dead.
@@ValiantWrestling no it's not, it never will die

"3 months of delicate work and now look at it, you ham-fisted bun vendor!"
Never really warmed to the 3rd Doctor so I’ll probably give this one a miss but after no news for so long I’m DELIGHTED that The Collection sets are still going. Season 20 next please 😬🤞🏻
Same!
The 3rd Doctor isn't one of my favorites but I can't deny he had a really solid run of stories/episodes, this season doesn't have a single bad episode in my opinion (even the unpopular Colony in Space is better than most people say)
@@rockotarsoldaccount I’ve only seen the first couple of stories, Terror of the Autons was pretty solid but Mind of Evil kinda dragged for me. I’ll watch the rest on BritBox and maybe that’ll change my mind about the set 🤷🏻♂️
@@jacobcurle8964 I didn't really like most of pertwee's stories at first but after rewatching them I found most of them better than I had first thought, almost all Doctor Who stories are better the second time you watch them, so if you don't like them it might just be because you haven't gotten used to them yet, that's what I think anyways
I found him quite patronising to his companions at times.. tho this might be a result of his exile,a false front of superiority. (Tho technically he was superior to most people)
Jo Grant should get her own TV show
A Masterful season... literally, it's full of Master
Lol
I know that pub and village green - that's the Blue Boar in Aldbourne. They have various Who memorabilia up inside, and do a very good lunch too.
Woohoo! After a long break, it looks like The Collection is back on track. And what a season to celebrate its return.
Did I pre-order it before I even watched the video? I most certainly did. No way am I missing out on even one of these sets.
My God, it's amazing to look back on the Pertwee era and see how high the bar was on the quality of the stories. Every season had multiple classic or game-changing episodes. And even what I consider average serials (like "Claws of Axos" IMHO) are just solidly fun, science fiction adventure television.
Yeah pretty much, the only bad stories 3 had were the Mutants (which is really boring) and the time monster (which has a ridiculous plot filled with cringe moments and lots of annoying characters)
@@rockotarsoldaccount I saw the Time Monster after reading the Target novelization. I gotta give Terrence Dicks credit, he really made it read like an epic, time-hopping thrill ride. Even the Doctor's gadget made of garbage and tea leaves read like it was amazing. Watching the actual serial. . . not quite as good.
To me, Season 8 is a pretty big letdown after Season 7's intimate, emotional, and meaningful characters and stories. The Pertwee era wouldn't get back to that Season 7 standard again till The Green Death. I liked The Time Monster and The Mutants fine, more than you guys, though. Time Monster -- charming fun, Stuart, Time Ram, Jojo Grant. The Mutants -- brilliant concept, also liked the politics of apartheid analogy. The Pertwee era was all fine, but only really stood out in Season 7 for me.
We need Richard Franklin to do the voice over for one of these sets at some point.
Sacha Dhawan on behind the sofa has already sold this for me!
Who is he?
He is a disgrace as The Master. He shouldn't even dare to look upon an image of Roger Delgado THE MASTER. Heck, I dare say only Derek Jacobi can match Delgado. Jacobi Has done more on the War Master audios than all the RTD clown masters ( Yes RTD clown masters.... all modern Masters are following the Simm Master's behavior).
@@morningcoffeecat2271 He's The Master in series 12 of the new series and in my opinion the best of the New Masters.
@@tenshiigarashi4063 Yeah couldn't agree more although I didn't mind simm they need to stop painting classic who like it's the new series because half of it's fans hate the new series increasingly for either the last six years or since the new series launched.
she’s such a good actor
The BBC need a spin of series with Katy Manning and the 2 unit guys still alive Mike Yates and Sargent Benton
Or do a spin of dr who with Tom baker if Tom put a wig on haha 😂 be awesome 😂
@@jakecracknell5381 I think Toms a little old now, unless Jo meets the curator! Great idea though, the chance to see the great one, one last time!!
Way to go Jo, a legend! Something to look forward to in 2021 👍
Another brilliant box set trailer! And superb choice of "behind the sofa" viewers again! Sacha!!
First Appearance of the Master in this season and you get the Current Master on Behind the Sofa. Oh Master My Master
Can't say I like Dhawan's portrayal at all. He annoys the hell out of me (Then again so does the entire Chibnall era to the point I've stopped considering it canon.). I can't take him seriously and not even in a campy but reasonably enjoyable Ainley way. More of a "who the heck is this joker calling himself the Master?" way. Delgado on the other hand. Now THAT is the real Master. Intimidating, suave, scary as hell, and even quite witty. Missy and Jacobi are the only Masters to have come close to matching him but Dhawan's Dastardly and Mutley impression doesn't do him any favours. (Dastardly and Mutley is an old cartoon).
That said I don't mind Dhawan himself so I don't think his part of the commentary will be too much of a problem (he was excellent in an adventure in time and space). This collection looks brilliant though! I can't wait for it to come out.
"The twins have formed an electric hip hop band..."
i love the world building. Lol
We need the Joe Grant adventures
Agree
Katy Manning is an absolute gem!
Jon: (thoughtfully strokes chin, then breaks into a broad smile) "Mm . . yes. That's Katy alright! - well done . . bun vendor"
REST IN PEACE STEWART BEVAN
I love the picture of Jo with Three in the background. :)
Please, I need more of Jo Grant. It’d be amazing to see more of her character, Katy Manning is an amazing actress.
Imagine being her neighbor and seeing stuff like that out the window
Jo Grant definitely was a great companion to Pertwee’s Doctor. It’s nice that she’s still involved in the DW universe. I remember when she came back in The Sarah Jane Adventures... it definitely was a dream for the Whovians. I definitely would be up for Jo returning to Doctor Who in a special episode... maybe the 60th..?
Guess it’s up to RTD whether he wants to bring Jo back in an ep or not because I’m assuming Chibnall won’t
"Can't we ever have a normal weekend?" No, Cliff. No, you cannot. Rest in Peace, Stewart Bevan.

looking forward to it, especially the movie length Daemons :)
Three all-time great stories here - The Daemons, Terror of the Autons and the Mind of Evil. The other two stories are pretty good. It's a belter of a season.
Neil McCarthy is brilliant, in THE MIND OF EVIL. THE DÆMONS is my second favourite Classic Who story.
The Pertwee era in general was an amazingly solid run, with hardly any genuinely bad stories.
@@rassilontdavros3004 Agree with you, like the Troughton era, the standard is exceptionally high and consistent. I think the Time Monster is a dud though and I've never been keen on the two Peladon stories. But many of my all-time favourite stories are from the Pertwee period.
@@rassilontdavros3004 3 questionable stories out of 24, not bad at all!
