The Five Doctors was my first Doctor Who story back in 1983. 40 years later, I'm still here.
It's just a shame that it was more like the 4 Doctors and a reused clip of Tom Baker. Still great to see them together though.
It's hard to believe they got Peter Davison, Peter Davison, and Peter Davison all in one show. That must have been a fun day on-set.
Jokes aside, this was really well-put together. 10/10 would cast Peter Davison again.

@@sixstanger00 😂😂 No, not at all but NuWho has it a bit more together than Classic, refined and a bit more control in its mind boggling ness. Classic is 🤯.
@@hotdog1214 A bit more control? You must be joking. Most of the plotlines in NuWho are so convoluted and contrived that they often setup threads that go nowhere, or end up breaking their own rules and/or just make no attempt whatsoever to maintain some sliver of continuity, purely for the sake of plot convenience.
Case in point: In _Flesh and Stone,_ it's revealed that the light being emitted from the cracks will swallow up anything it touches and erase it from existence. (RIP Rory Williams).
Literally seconds later, the Doctor reaches into the crack (unscathed) and pulls out a fragment of the TARDIS. Wait....what?

Let's also not forget that in S5's opening episode, _The Eleventh Hour,_ it's stated that the crack is a fissure between our universe and a parallel one -- the parallel universe being where Prisoner Zero escaped from. Yet somehow, this native of another universe knows more about The Doctor's future than he does, enough to drop the cryptic "Silence will fall" yarn. So in a span of just a few episodes, this arc is already a hot mess with absolutely no continuity; Moffat just changed the nature of the cracks to suit the story he was writing at the given moment, because they change YET AGAIN in the finale, and then YET AGAIN during Eleven's finale episode, where for some bizarre reason, the Time Lords are now on the other side of the crack.

@@sixstanger00 Hmm ok, I don't think you've quite got the gist of what I was saying. Not that NuWho is controlled, that it is "more control in its mind boggling ness" i.e. its wacky but in a more deliberate way not in a super crazy weird wacky way like Classic Who. I appreciate your analysis (it was an interesting read) but not quite on the topic. I'm on about weirdness levels, you seem to be talking about continuity (or lack of it). That's not bonkers, its just poor follow-up by the writers.
You asked if I thought NUWho wasn't bonkers. In short, yes it is, but Classic is on a different level - as evidenced in this video. Hope that helps clarify.
Season 20 was my first experience of the 5th Doctor and holds a very special place in my heart ♥♥️

To bad they went and ruined it hadn’t watched it with the lady doctor.
Season 1 was my first dr who experience, i was hooked after that. Two episodes that stand out from that era were the introduction of the cybermen, they were accompanied by these bug like creatures that could electrocute you, and the episode when the first dr who was shrunk down and had to survive against evil insects, i distinctly remember seeing mens legs with dark trousers with polished black shoes for ants legs the actors had large maybe fibreglass upper ant bodies to wear. The episodes were so good that one simply forgot the trousers etc.

@@annieg7440 That's amazing! My first was in fact Battlefield (7th Doctor serial) and then from there I watched Hartnells seasons which I was hooked to instantly as well.

I think it’s highly interesting that series 20 and its trailer, which features an anniversary special with multiple Doctors and past companions, is being released during all the hype and clue-dropping about the 60th anniversary special, with its own hints of multiple Doctors and past companions…….🤔
My favourite pair of Doctor and villain, Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado as The Master. Delgado was superb. One moment, he was an urbane gentleman-around-town, but the moment you ceased to be useful to him, he would discard you without a second thought.
With all the more unhinged Masters in recent years, I’d like to see a more calculating and strategically ruthless one back on the screen. I suppose Missy was a return to form in some ways…
But The Master as seen in this trailer is Anthony Ainley as The Master, not Delgado. Though it is to the Third Doctor's Credit that he quickly recognizes him as a regeneration of his old frenemy in The Five Doctors.
I remember all of the episodes shown in this trailer. For a moment, it felt like I was the young man I once was, seeing old friends once more, for a few moments. I also remember how my friends and I, were the only ones in our class, during middle school up to the high school to even know who Dr. Who was, and the rest of the class thought we were weird for liking such an obscure show.
Funny how times have changed since then. No pun intended. ;)

I started with Time Flight from the series before so this was the first full series of Doctor Who that I watched and it cemented me being a fan for the past 40 years, looking forward to getting this on blu ray.

This was a great season, very dear to my heart. It tackled some big ideas, fleshed out a ton of Time Lord lore, established continuity for Omega, the White and Black Guardians, and the Mara, and celebrated the show's 20th anniversary, not to mention a lovely Two-Brigadiers story, resolving the fake-out departure of Tegan, seeing Nyssa off properly, and even having room for multiple interferences by Anthony Ainley's wonderfully moustache-twirling incarnation of The Master. This is what a show that is confident in its legacy can do.
They gotta get Davison to do the subscribe bit

My first memory of Dr Who was Tom Bakers last season. I was only 5 years old watched all of Davidson on TV and the rest my first real Doctor was Davidson all the way through. I've now obviously watched all of WHO apart from the list episodes
Must be around the same age as me. I too have vague memories of watching Baker's last season, before going into the Davison era, which I remember more strongly. I'm pretty sure Baker's last season was repeated before Davison took over properly.........or maybe I just imagined it. 🤔

A lot of emphasis on The Five Doctors, but it wasn't even the best story in this classic season- between Arc of Infinity, Snakedance and the Black Guardian trilogy (Enlightenment in particular is one of the finest serials in Classic Who) there's a magnificent cornucopia of Doctor Who to enjoy in this season (even if The King's Demons was a bit naff, albeit brief at only 2 episodes).
Beautiful! This is a season I've been waiting for! Especially because of the 5 Doctors in HD. Hopefully one day it'll get a 3D conversion, too. 🎉
Absolutely a joy to see it in HD - but the "3D conversions" are not properly 3D at all - they just impose some vague 3D shapes over the original 2D. I find it deeply unsatisfying and a bit disrespectful to the source material :/

Have they changed the vortex thing that snatched them up in the 5 doctors - makes me think if it been revamped it will be used in 60th and maybe death zone - last time doctor who channel clips in lead up to special linked into who and what happen in power of doctor

It shocked me since the trailer has indicated new updates to “The Five Doctors” special effects, since the effects hadn’t been updated since 1995. This should be interesting.
Loved the music and enjoyed the trailer, especially the surprise of “The Five Doctors” Remixed and Restored.
The original announcement trailer and the press release both announced a 40th Anniversary Edition of the story with another new edit and updated CGI. I’m really not sure why you’d only be surprised at that months later.

Dam, now we have another version of that five doctors thing that took the characters.
Looking forward to this but I'm still disappointed in the price point.
It's 2023, the age of streaming, and us fans buying physical media for 4 decade old content (that most of us already own in another format) deserve better than being expected to drop £55 on a season.
You can hardly complain when there's almost 12 hours of content.......
There's a lot of extra features and the actors will be getting decent residuals off DVD sales.
