i loved Christopher Eccleston, who had his very own wonderful doctor character. he was brilliant, quirky, and more human and emotional. his emotions had deep potential - there was more than he was showing. he also had that wonderful self humor. i miss him. David Tennant was absolutely brilliant!!these scenes are just wonderful. his doctor had an incredible, completely out there, super intelligent, whimsical personality. basically he was a lot of fun, but could be heavily serious - a very versatile, changeable, fluid actor.

For me it's a tie between Matt Smith and David Tennant both bring so much and intersting perspectives to the role and by far my favorite episode is day of the doctor because it's a crossover between them.
I think Tennant had arguably the strongest first episode of any Doctor. Obviously I knew his popularity by the time I finally watched, but he seriously came out of the gate swinging and every punch landed.
Smith had the best lines ("A forest in a bottle on a spaceship in a maze... Have I impressed you yet?"), but Tennant had some of the most incredible scenes, the most dramatic, and the most impressive.
