i loved Christopher Eccleston, who had his very own wonderful doctor character. he was brilliant, quirky, and more human and emotional. his emotions had deep potential - there was more than he was showing. he also had that wonderful self humor. i miss him. David Tennant was absolutely brilliant!!these scenes are just wonderful. his doctor had an incredible, completely out there, super intelligent, whimsical personality. basically he was a lot of fun, but could be heavily serious - a very versatile, changeable, fluid actor.
Thats mostly because the new doctress can't make herself silly and ridicoulus. Which is mostly why the serious and tragic moments work so great in the series. The next doctor will most likely have the same problem.
I think Tennant had arguably the strongest first episode of any Doctor. Obviously I knew his popularity by the time I finally watched, but he seriously came out of the gate swinging and every punch landed.
For me it's a tie between Matt Smith and David Tennant both bring so much and intersting perspectives to the role and by far my favorite episode is day of the doctor because it's a crossover between them.

i truly believe the bigger part of the fandom will never let go of loving david tennant as the doctor. they could recast him in a hundred more times and i'd be sitting ready to watch every single scene with him. it's been over a decade and a lot of great casting followed him, but i don't think anyone's more beloved than him in his era. i think it's a combination of his version of the doctor AND the great writing he had for his seasons. the doctors following him all had amazing takes at the roles but imo all of them were failed by the writing more than they were elevated.

Why I liked when he TRIED TWICE to kill or protect Rose to fail, hence why I like the first chance he gave was the LAST chance for the being to tried to back stab him, hence why I FEEL he started the "rules" of himself all over in order to keep to his code WHILE being more guarded, only to lose connection with his closest friends and seeing Smith Doctor, he wanted also to ensure not to get too attached as he knows he would need to let them go earlier than he'd want why he felt after losing Amelia AND Rory, decided to go down a harder path ONLY to lose River AND Missy so instead thought to gain the power over his emotions to become 13 Jodie doctor, to learn to become more disconnect from companions why I can see why so many didn't like her, simply because he(she) tried harder to go against the norm to protect his/herself leading to accept the hits and decide to look forward more after experiences, only to result to back to Tennant as she missed something, why I think Tennant return is a moment of "BEFORE you go forward, don't forget this" much like Capaldi which I feel was moody teen Doctor hiding it behind a face of someone who LITERALLY was one the bravest for his family. Why I'm excited to see what 15 Ncuti will be (likely post college mature but excited doctor).
He is such a talented actor and seems like a truly lovely human being. But also, how the heck does he look so different now but is still the same level of handsome? 🥰
