Yes, about the contact!! The little girl I nanny has that watch for kids with cell service. She can only call me her parents, grandparents and brother. I feel so much better sending her out to play or over a friends house knowing she can contact me whenever and I know her location.
i totally agree that children should have a phone or some type of device to contact you if they go anywhere without you, regardless of age... I remember when I was really young (probably 7 ish) I would get babysat by this family and they were horrible to me. I wanted to call my mom so bad to come get me but I had no way to contact her. I just imagine my child (i dont have one yet, but hypothetically speaking) being in a situation like that and I just feel so much better about them having their own way to contact their parents
Babies aren’t that expensive. Diapers are wipes are a huge cost as well as formula. But HOLY CRAP have you looked into childcare? We pay over 8,000 a year and that’s for one baby at the most affordable and safe local place! Childcare is outrageous!

Babies are expensive! Infant daycare in northern CA (full time) cost us $1500 a month. Since the pandemic we keep the baby at home with a nanny 3 days per week. That costs is $2000 a month plus we pay the payroll taxes. Also for many women pumping at work is allowed but you don’t get paid for the time. That loss in hourly pay can easily add up to higher cost than formula depending on how much you make. Not to mention putting money away every month for college, added life insurance for parents and healthcare for baby. The health care can be several hundred dollars a month. Oh and the lack of federal maternity leave! Taking even 6 short weeks off from work can be a huge financial hit. You’re right about swaddle blankets and towels but that’s not even close to where the cost is.

No because she still has dairy in other foods sometimes, she eats mac n cheese, grilled cheese, ice cream, etc
