  • Hey ya!
Welcome back to another episode of building this Porsche 911 Turbo 993 kit. As promised, I have been making progress and reliving some childhood memories and using the skills I have developed to push on and get this kit built.
I hope you enjoy the process and do like if you enjoy this and comment and subscribe if you haven't yet. So we can keep on making and finish these projects.
Just as an added note for you scale model car makers out there, if you need some paint for your own build I have a lot of the Arena red left from this batch I have had mixed up. So if you are in the UK or in Europe, I'd be happy to bottle some up and send over for your own builds. Drop me a line or DM me on my Instagram page @iamjustamodelmaker. Here to share the knowledge and the love to get the projects done :)
Thank you for watching and your support so far.

Me too! I thought this was going to be a quick build but I couldn't let it go and went into greater detail. I hope it's enjoyable for you to watch as I progress.

I thought the colour you picked wont look good but after shooting clear coat I have to say its pretty cool and different. Waiting for the next vid.

Yeah the base coat dries matt once sprayed and dried, especially on metallic and pearl colours and needs that clear coat to make it pop into life. I'm always looking for colours period to the project and sometimes a bit unusual, kinda like me ;) Hopefully I'll get the next part of the build ready and decide between interior or chassis work. Thanks for watching and the support.

Did the same kit with almost same colour, before 2000. What a deja vu.
Nice video, nice built. Keep it up.
    Subscribed already!
And I also have the b6 alpina you mentioned in the previous video, but with damaged body. Unfortunately it's un repairable. 😥

Thank you for watching and subscribing. I've taken a short summer break but will continue when I get back.
The 993 seems a nice shape and proportion. The only hesitation I have is the small wheels included, the interior is taken from another kit. So learning another 3d program to try and make it more realistic. I was going to build out of the box, but couldn't let it go, forever tinkering ;)
B6 amazing! I can imagine the body damage might be the A pillars? Older cars got away with less safety.
So many kits in the stack, but just need to carry on and keep up the momentum in building them. I'll ban myself from buying kits for the moment.
I'll post progress and thoughts when I return back to the workbench.

@@Iamjustamodelmaker you are right. 993 even made out of the box is an amazing shape. If you modify it, it will be superb.
B6 a lot of damage. One of them the pillars.
We are waiting for the progress on 993 and more kits.

Will there be a Part Two?

Hey ya! I'd like to move on with this and share some methods so I possibly mess up, so you don't have to ;) my favourite part is polishing the top coat.... Yikes that's the big deal, nice smooth paint, then the little OCD details I like ;) what do you say??

@@Iamjustamodelmaker headlamps, try to do all finishes of polishing and with foam pads to see what works, I was just curious about the printed interior and rims, considering we know the stock rims suck. However can you scan your sticker sheet? I have the Italeri mold and the revell decals has no engine label, pretty please??

I'd say the paint finish is always the show stopper for me. The little details too, but finding that balance is key. With resin 3D printing nowadays, even the clear pieces can be redrawn too.. it is a labour of love ;) time is the only thing I struggle on.

@@Iamjustamodelmaker i got the headlights from a Tamiya 993 gt2 kit, the steering wheel from a Porsche boxster 996 kit, the only thing I gave up on was the dashboard and the door handles like you mentioned, best of luck!!

@@emanuelrivera8048 hey ya, I think you're going the right direction. That 993 period was the last air-cooled and a few items rolled into the following 996. The item I've been thinking long and hard about is the rear arches with the vent, for the turbo S for my next build. The process of this has become very technical and I'm happy to make little steps to get specific vehicles made, especially in the 90s. That was a good time;)
