Ich bin schon mal vor vielen Jahren auf einem Panzer mitgefahren (M113), aber ein Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer ist dann schon eine andere Hausnummer.
Das Fahrzeug ist wunderschön restauriert und ich hatte die Erlaubnis, mir alles aus der Nähe anzusehen.
Ich hoffe euch gefällt mein Bericht über den Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer!

Many years ago i drove around in a tank (M113), but a Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer is an entirely different affair.
The vehicle is very nicely restored and i had the permission to have a closer look.

The Jagdpanzer 38 (Sd.Kfz. 138/2), later known as Hetzer ("pursuer/hunter"), was a German light tank destroyer of the Second World War based on a modified Czechoslovakian Panzer 38(t) chassis. The project was inspired by the Romanian "Mareşal" tank destroyer.
The Jagdpanzer 38 was intended to be more cost-effective than the much more ambitious Jagdpanther and Jagdtiger designs of the same period. Using a proven chassis, it avoided the mechanical problems of the larger armoured vehicles.

This is one of the most interesting and informative videos you have posted, Michael. I have really been rethinking my own weathering processes and this video is invaluable. O like the close ups of the suspension showing the accumulated mud and dirt by the drive sprocket and on top of the suspension components. And the rust on the exhaust! Very nice. It doesn't look like it is about to crumble into pieces. Also interesting were the scuff marks on the rear where the crew climb on. I was surprised somewhat by the lack of rust on the exposed metal areas of the fenders and such.

thank you brett, i´m glad you find this useful :) normally you see such tanks only in museum condition without any dirt, but this one is actually quite beaten up and dirty. it was awesome to see that up close.

Thanks - I really enjoyed that. What a great day out! I'm not particularly claustrophobic, but the cramped conditions and tight hatches must have made that an oppressive environment to fight from. I've never understood why the 'bump caps' the crews wore in the early war years fell out of use. Surely banging your head in such an enclosed space - crammed with multiple hard edges - is unavoidable. Respect to the crews.

it is very easy to injure yourself there, everything is sharp and very hard!

Als ich anfing, gab es einen Bausatz von Italeri, aber der ist wohl etwas veraltet - wenn der überhaupt noch zu haben ist. Wenn Du einen annehmbaren Bausatz findest, gib mir doch bitte Bescheid. :)

Ja, da drüben sieht man das nicht so eng :) In diesem Fall ist es noch etwas spezieller, weil es keine geschlossene Ortschaft war.
just about 200 miles west is where we are. the army arsenal has a display you might like, and then along I80 are several things that might interest you but alas, you have returned to Germany, still nice to see your videos. chuck maki

Hamilkar, have you been to the tank museum in Bovington? Very easy to spend the day there, even if they do not have a special event going on. I suggest to anyone who goes, bring a charger for your camera, or a spare battery. I was only halfway through my day when the battery started to get low, I was taking so many pictures.
i have not yet visited bovington, but at least i´ve been to Munster and Saumur already :) Without a doubt the collection in Bovington is amazing and i have the firm intention to go there one day.
Munster and Saumur would be next on my list to visit, but it is a little expensive and long traveling from Canada. As you say.....one day. When I went to Bovington, I took the train from London, at the Bovington station I walked over to the taxi stand. A gentleman in a taxi saw me approach and said "seven pounds" I said seven pounds for what? He said a taxi to the tank museum. How did you know I was going to the museum? You have a camera bag, you are not with your wife, you got off the London train and you have a smile on your face.

Hallo, danke fürs vorstellen vom Jagtpanzer 38t. Und ich muss direkt ein Lob loswerden. Ich war immer der Überzeugung dass beim Jagdpanzer 38t komplett auf die Komponenten vom Panzer 38t zurück gegriffen wurde, also Antrieb, Ketten, Scheibenräder, etz und dass nur die Wanne um 30cm verbreitert wurde.Aber dem ist scheinbar nicht so, wie ich dem Anfang des Videos entnehmen kann? Denn dies ist das erste mal, dass auf die kleinen aber feinen Unterschiede zum LtPzkpfw 38t. eingegangen wird. Hast Du vielleicht konkrete Informationen wieviel die Ketten breiter und die Scheibenräder größer waren? War die Wanne auch länger? Oder gabs die größeren Scheibenräder und breiteren Ketten nur am Panzrerjäger G13 der Schweiz? Würde mich freuen wenn Du auf die Fragen kurz eingehen könntest, vielen Dank im Vorraus! Es geht mir dabei um ein Modellbauprojekt, aber leider werden entweder die Standard Modellkomponenten vom Panzer 38t angeboten, oder viel zu überdimensionierte Teile so dass der Jagtpanzer 38t deutlich zu groß wird.
Dankesehr für dein großes Lob und ich freue mich, dass mein Video dir zumindest angedeutet hat, dass es teils erhebliche Unterschiede zum 38(t) gibt. Da ich auch Modellbauer bin, weiß ich dein Interesse nochmal mehr zu schätzen!
Ich kann dir zwar nicht zu allen Teilen Maße geben, aber zumindest für die Ketten habe ich die Infos parat: Es gibt für den Jagdpanzer 38 zwei Kettentypen, die beide nicht mit den früheren 38(t) Ketten kompatibel sind. Die 38(t) Ketten haben folgende Maße: 29x12x14cm, die beiden Jagdpanzer 38 Kettentypen 35x13x14cm. Erkennbarer Hauptunterschied sind die beiden "Ohren" neben den Löchern für die Zähne des Triebrades. Typ 1 hat im Zentrum außen die gleiche Zugleiste wie die Ketten des 38(t), Typ 2 verfügt über zwei Zugleisten.
Für die Scheibenräder habe ich keine Maße zur Hand, aber die des Jagdpanzers haben einen größeren Durchmesser. Das fällt leider nicht immer sofort auf, ist aber so.
Die Maße der Wanne müssten eigentlich komplett anders sein, bzw. nicht notwendigerweise dem 38(t) gleichen, da die Form und die Konstruktionsweise eine völlig andere ist. Es gibt keine vertikalen Wände an der Unterwanne, die ist sozusagen V-Förmig, auch der Bug ist steiler. Vielleicht ist der Winkel der Heckplatte gleich geblieben, mehr aber eigentlich nicht.

Hab viele Videos vom 38t und dem Jagtpanzer verglichen und war mir zuletzt fast sicher dass die Ketten und Scheibenräder identisch sind. Dem ist also doch nicht so. Das Triebrad vom Jagtpanzer 38t erschien mir optisch immer etwas anders, bzw größer als das vom 38t, aber da kann ich mich auch täuschen. Ob sich die 6cm Unterschied in der Kettenbreite am Modell darstellen lassen, da muss ich mal schauen. :) Danke jedenfalls für die Auskünfte.

Ich würde gerne diesen Motor im Maßstab 1:3 nachbauen, um ihn dann in einem Modell des Jagdpanzer 38t im gleichen Maßstab einzusetzen.
Das klingt nach einem sehr interessanten Projekt! Solche Zeichnungen gibt es bestimmt, nur habe ich die nicht zur Hand, müsste also selbst erst danach suchen.

Mein Vater hat einen gefahren. Er wollte nichts anderes haben...
Wenn man sein Kampfgerät kennt und weiß wozu es fähig ist bin ich mir sicher, dass die Soldaten damals großes Vertrauen in diesen Jagdpanzer hatten. Interessant ist im Kontrast dazu, was manche Leute wie "Lindybeige" hier auf TH-cam über den Hetzer sagen. Ich würde mich da eher deinem Vater anschließen :)
@@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling Mein Vater hatte nur reklamiert, dass er bei der Kupplung 75kg durchtreten mußte. Aber sonst war er ganz zufrieden.
