Finally! A Jagdpanzer 38 with the proper engine! Fantastic restoration work and I love the inclusion of black "sniper bait" rectangles.
Outstanding video and presentation. Great rare footage of the interior, close up exterior detail and start up and running of the Hetzer engine.

Back in the 80s I knew a guy who owned a G-13. At first he kept it at a local museum. Later he found permanent housing for it and only brought it out for reenactments. BTW this one is beautifully restored.
These videos highlighting individual vehicles are so good.

I think Hetzers were produced by Skoda Works in Pilsen some 90 km away from Prague.
"Fully operational" "This can still penetrate a T-34" .... I asume almost fully operational. Would be bad ass night at the museum if the collection was fully operational! :D

@@pezpengy9308 Ukraine has a fake Panzer, Tiger?, from a shooting range. It was used for people to drive about for fun. It is being used as a decoy to draw Russian attention from real tanks at roadblock.

Great video guys and those German soldiers must of gone deaf with the noise from that engine.
Probably they all had headsets with ear protection, otherwise it would also be almost impossible to communicate with each other while in battle...
Probably were not to worried about future hearing damage

I like the inside overview of the tank. Always wondered on the amount of room noise and overall crew “comfort”. Now I have an idea on this model. Keep up the good work
The danger was tanky and the crew suffered a little, but it was a rolling terror, its cannon was very advantageous, a very dangerous "small", that engine at the beginning of the video, by God!!, It's all that's right, I wish that That symphony will be left to us for a few more minutes 🖤🙌,And the restoration work is more than impressive! It is sublime!

Was lucky enough to get a ride in this at Tankfest a couple years ago. It wasn’t coping well with the heat and was doing limited runs. We held onto our tickets for half the day and right when we were considering trading them for something else, i heard it start up. Luckily i was standing about 2m away from Rob at the time and managed to get on the next run. Highlight of the weekend, as it’s one of the few tanks you rode in, rather than on top of.
@tileux it was tight, hot and loud, and you really wouldn’t want it to tip over on its roof.
Impressive looking beast!
Definitely helped having this example in Swiss service to keep it well maintained until it was retired and restored.

one of these simulation channels showed that the 6cm frontarmor is slightly better than the tigers 1's due to its angle
Love the hetzer watched the history of this on Bruce Crompton they sure did a good job.Gutted when I was in Australia your museum didn't exist sadly won't be able to get to OZ now.

During the presentation I was thinking it would help to have a small driver to manage the pedals, but those vision blocks would suit a taller driver.
It's lucky the Hetzer was an ambush vehicle. Driving it in an engagement battle would have been hell.
What a beautiful machine. By no means is it infamous like the tiger, but for some reason, the Hetzer captivates me. Wish I could explain it
The Hetzer is a very practical td. Very good punch for the price Imo.
7:07 "Während der Fahrt Fuß vom Kupplungspedal" (what means "While driving, foot off the clutch pedal") should be written above the instruments, but unfortunately there seems to have been a spelling mistake in the first word.
If I read it correctly, it says: "WÄHRED" but it should be "WÄHREND", apparently the "N" is missing.

I had a ride in this a few years ago on one of your Field Days. It was awesome to say the least.
I could imagine being in that vehicle during the hot humid summer time during battle, a couple of men cramped into a small compartment with little air circulation, everybody hot and uncomfortable trying to do their job , the inside filled with smoke from the gun firing and the vibration and excessive noise from the motor so loud you would have to yell to be heard, it would take a very well trained crew to make that vehicle perform in battle effectively

back when Paul Allen had his museum in Everett Washington he would bring his G-13 Swede out to some events and we would get to play recon jeep hunting for the Hetzer. Great fun. Love the Czech made armor.

Damn... that thing is just... absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Say what you will about the Krauts and their tank destroyers, they were powerful. Maybe not an M18 Hellcat or M36 Jackson powerful, but very powerful indeed

I see Praga have just announced their latest car, the Bohema, but they've outsourced the engine to Nissan. I guess they were looking for a bit more performance than the Hetzer.

Considering prewar Germany was roughly the size of the state of Montana... a war of attrition vs Detroit was unwinnable.
The Hetzer was a great, cheap way to get an excellent gun out onto the battlefield while also giving its crew "some" protection.
If a Hetzer crew had to use that much ammo in one engagement, they were facing bigger issues than just loading. Otherwise they'd swap the extra rounds to the left once it the fighting was over.
this was the first vehicle i got a ride in at the first ausarmourfest way back in 2016

Was always under the assumption that it was Driver - gunner - commander as the human centipede on the left, with the loader on the right side of the tank.

Very nice tank. But there's a typing error visible at 2:20. The correct German word is "WÄHREND". There's a "N" missing.
Correct. That is also a very odd font, never seen that before.
@@flitsertheo it is probably because they used a stencil to spray the letters, so all letters with hollow sections like A, B, D, O, P, Q need support for the center section so they need to be divided. Just like the sprayed letters on wooden crates...

Small mistake in that text in front of the driver : it should say ' Wahrend' so the n is missing. (It means dont keep your foot on the clutch while driving). And two dots on top of the letter a but I can't type that on my phone )) great video !!
Not sure what type phone you have, but typically you can type the German umlaut by pressing and holding the vowel until a pop-up menu appears. Then slide over to the umlaut.

great to see the insides as well as detail on the outside - it does save us bashing our heads etc, something you get very used to working with military equipment, howz ya head Kurt, or was it an arm or something? - you do end up with many bruises to tell the tale

I believe that the MG34's wood buttstock would not have been attached when mounted on top in its remove mounting. It will just be in the way. The Swiss G13 had the commander and loader positions switched postwar. That round button with the German word for "FIRE." is used to fire the gun should the vehicle battery (12-volt) is dead. The ammunition (KWK40) is electrically primed, and normally fired using an electric trigger/switch. Those red lights will be lit when the electric circuit is ready to fire. If the battery was dead you can disconnect the normal power in and hook up the emergency firing circuit It is basically a small electric spark generator, enough to cook off the ammo's primer. Any questions? Ask the founder of the US WWII Historical Re-enactment Society. I have twenty years experience on Hetzers, both mine and the Patton Museum's G13.
Was the dial on the far right of the drivers panel the speedometer? As it went up to 100 - which is either very optimistic, or very scary (depending on where you were sitting....) 🤣
ROunds on the right side are not "ready rounds" thay are stored ready to replenish the ready round bin.
I never knew how bad the crew's outside field of vision was in tanks until I saw the driver's view port.
As far as visibility out of the vehicle, it's not a tank, more of a mobile artillery piece so the commander would have is head out, or more, much more often. If you are getting shot directly you are doing it wrong. The armor is more for the "to whom it may concern" shots.

Don't you think they would have outfitted these tanks with mufflers and resonators so they would operate silent. Like I have to imagine a quite tank may have come in handy more than once during the war. And im sure gm had tons of resonators and mufflers laying arround from the cadillacs so they would have just had to make it fit the manifold then use the same machine when they ran out of already built ones.
What is the purpose of the larger pipe surrounding the main exhaust pipe?
It seems as though the allies would do all they can to fire ammo and grenades upon the viewing lenses. I am sure they are very strong, but if lenses are damaged badly, the tank is far less effective.
I remember the Jagdpanther or Tiger had replacement lenses, I'm pretty sure the Hetzer also had some replacement lenses.
I noticed that your museum is a stones throw to the Royal Australian Armored Corps, (RAAC), do the soldiers of the RAAC, hold any classes at your museum? I would think that by studying history you can learn and keep from making some mistakes of the past?
May I be so bold as to suggest that the camo scheme should go from top to bottom and not sort of break above the wheel line? In other words it should include the wheels having two colours.
Tanks arrived at the field workshops in a basic dark yellow livery, and the workshops applied additional camouflage. Sometimes they didn't bother to paint the wheels also.
After some time in the field the dirt, dust, mud and debris would create buildup line above wheels, which would cause blending effect anyway, the "break" of camo pattern would not be visible. This was taken into account and was desired effect.

Wow, you guys seem to have an awesome collection, I hope Nicholas Moran, aka the Chieftain, does some in depth revues of you vehicles.
A lot of armchair posters out there saying the Hetzer was one heck of a TD, until closer analysis indicated cramp fighting compartment and poor visibility made it one good looking AFV with mediocre impact.
