Arguably, I think because there's one guy who is called "The Genius Scientist of Bodybuilding" (to be fair he idolized and followed the training regimen of the Uncrowned Mr. Olympia Mike Mentzer) , the Shadow and the 1st Mass Monster, Dorian Yates.
I had the great honor of being trained by Mike at Gold's Venice about 1994-95. I was at a New Year's Eve party he invited me to at his house and watched the original tape of him scoring the incredible 300. I knew there was something deeper going on inside him, but that was not my place to pry. It is MIKE who changed bodybuilding as no other. It was MIKE who had probably one of the three most perfect physiques in history, and it is MIKE'S legacy that will grow over time. Everyone has issues....so what. It is Mike who I was privileged to be trained by, and I am lucky to have been a part of the great era of bodybuilding that resulted in who I am today being in the best shape of my life based on his fundamentals initially. I was changed by him, and I will be forever grateful.
@brother, I am currently using his method and definitely it works, I don’t get much soreness but the gains are surely coming. It’s kinda hard to get used to not go to the gym in less than 96 hours, but it’s worth. Every workout I either lift more weights or get more reps, and surely more muscle.
I would not agree. I definetly get best results when not going to failure. Failure stress your body and can cause injury. Works well if you are on gear because recovery is faster.
@@burttheman3697 And still look at the impact he has had after over two decades. If he was still alive, it would be astounding to see how far he would have taken the fitness industry. I’ve been watching and listening to alot of Mentzers teachings as of lately. Leo Longevity did an interview with Jerry Brainum recently, and discussed Mike and his brother. His last few years were depressingly sad. I even stumbled across another video of Mike behind the scenes of a coaching video, where he was smoking so many cigarettes between scenes that the cameraman was getting annoyed. It really hurt to see him that way because he was so intelligent and intense years earlier.
