650i BMW SOS MALFUNCTION (FIX)! TCU, amplifier, Fiber optic loop, No audio. Link in description

- SOS malfunction shut down one of the components in my 07 BMW 650i. I ordered a fiber optic loop off of amazon and bypassed the component in the trunk of my car and the radio is now working. The loop is a “female” loop. It fit my TCU perfectly but I had to do some modifications on it to make it fit the component in the trunk. I hope this video helps someone.

Tried the second half of your video on my ‘07 650i convertible and it worked perfectly . Bluetooth , chimes , radio and even navigation still works . Only satellite radio doesn’t (which I don’t use). Perfect thank you.

My GUY! I watched you're video I'm like what the heck, $13 Amazon loop delivered in two days. The mechanic shop knew all the while ,telling me they couldn't be sure without extensive testing, and possible component exchange. BLAH BLAH BLAH.... I'm back in business, I may pick-up a TCU on eBay or something one day. HOWEVER, this video worked for me first try..... ThAnK YoU again...

Hey! Just got my loop from Amazon. ($10) Went straight to the Satellite component in the trunk and skipped over the TCU and it worked!!! Took maybe 15 minutes from start to finish. So stoked! Thanks again for the video

I call the dealer ship and told them I was having problems with my system and was wondering how much it would cost to repair. He told me it probably would be around $1400.00 not including labor. So I decided to TH-cam my situation. Great move! Ordered the fiber optic loop hook it to the satellite plug and MUSIC. $10 bucks. Mind you bypassing the satellite you have no gps. Hey but you have a cell phone!

Hi I'm having the same exact issue. Just so I understand you correctly...So you are saying that you tried your new "loop" on the TCU behind the seat and that didnt fix anything until you tried your loop on that piece of equipment in the trunk? Just so I understand you correctly.

Jon Fillmore Yes. The TCU is normally the first to go but in my case it was one of the other components in the trunk. It’s a really simple fix and it saved me a ton of money
Also if your tcu Bluetooth unit light is not staying on it’s bad! Check your wiring first 12 volts you have 2 hots 1 live all the time and 1 goes on when you turn the key.

A I have an SOS in a 2010 650i, but the radio works. Why not just grab a used Sirius off of eBay motors for $89?
I have a 2013 650i and my front speakers are going in and out when they want. Sometimes off for a whole ride, I hit a bump and maybe 1 comes on for a second. I was thinking wiring i no longer think it’s the amp i got in the trunk and messed around and moved it around to see if that was the problem but it’s not. Does this help with that also

Imma give this another go-no joy .so fa. left front wheel came off of the car as I was driving away from the shop that had just installed new rims and tires. Stereo no longer functions,, body damaged, stripped rotors, installed incorrect rims and broke my back in two places six months after a six and a half hour back surgery where vertebra were fused, as well as having rods, posts and screws put in.. Also developed a valve cover gadget leak. Along with my sacrum broken in two places, I had abdominal pain, which I thought was radiating from my back. Nope. Umbilical hernia. On top of that, it flared up my hips, which needed to be replaced because of necrosis in my femurs. Because of the pain I only slept 14 hours a week for five months. Perhaps the cherry on top was dislocating the hip three weeks after surgery. Hernia to be repaired-finally after 10 months, next Tuesday, 19 July 2022. Hell of a year. The insurance company offered $5000, which would leave me $10000 in dept and the car still not functioning as it did prior to the negligence.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or recommendations???

I have a 08 650i I lost my audio, no chime either. I'm also getting SOS malfunction when I start my car. I was thinking my logic 7 amp went out? Or should I purchase this loop and would that fix my issue? Please reply

Ryan de la cruz Check ur wires? Do u have Bluetooth on your idrive? If so delete your phone and see if that works

Tony Stokes it comes on b.u.t certain things aren’t available, basically the radio, bluetooth, and sos system is not working, the cd player works tho. Sorry for the late response i wasnt notified.
Tony Stokes it seems like theres a problem connection to any networks
ThatShitIsHotSunlive Mine was doing basically the same thing. Depending on which component of yours is going bad, this fix may disable your Bluetooth but you will be able to listen to your radio without any issues.

Mechelle Durgan Trim it. I had to do some trim work on mine as well and I wrapped it with. Electrical tape to secure it.

Hey whats up bro i need your help,
I have a 2006 bmw 330i 6speed.
Radio has worked since i bought this car, and out of no where today i was driving with my music on and it just cut off and speakers were making a popping noise even when i turned the car off. My car has no navigation, no sos light, radio is on but i hear no sounds! I went to my trunk and found a puddle of water in the left rear trunk where the amp is. I cleaned it , unplugged the amps cables, unplugged battery, and put everything back together and still no sound. Then i lifted up the trunk mat and i notice i dont have a satelite there , i only have the module thats on the right side. I ordered the loop and im waiting for it to come in the Mail .. help me please bro

Nah but when i disconnect the little plug cable behind it , it has a red light on the socket

the same component you plugged yours into, i have a 2008 bmw 353i
lolphantomer Did you have to shave the loop to get it to fit? Yours could possibly be one of the other components
Tony Stokes yes i had to clip the outside parts but i feel like i might’ve boughten the wrong part because the loop would “slip” out
lolphantomer I did put some tape around mine to keep it from slipping out. Give one of the other components a try. This worked on the 650
