Noooooooooooo! They've removed the swivel wheel but left some in cohesive button / spin wheels like the volume control knob. I personally love the swivel wheel in my B9 A5 while driving, makes it far easier to control while on the move. Guess I'll just have to hold onto it for a while longer...
Yep, those are some of the most intuitive infotainment controls you can get. Unfortunately i don't think Audi is going to switch back anytime soon :(
God I wish they kept the MMI controller and just added the touchscreen alongside it.

I don't think I've ever seen a screen that's been integrated so poorly.
Doesn't it disappear like the old version? And basically all new Mercedes cars with their 5 feet long screen dash is even worse.

The A5-ish headlights look way better to me. The gap is only on the S-Line and S4

@@Matt_Curlew He doesn't mean the urquattro slots on the S-Line model but the general gap between hood and front bumper which looks hideous
Why did they want the A4 to look like an A1??
I like the headlights and I like the stupid gap on the hood which is not stupid.
People just can't deal with changes and I bet that those who said that they don't like the car they will like it in the future
Lost all the sharpness at the front end that worked so well, and the old indicators were more elegant. Also why not retain the mmi controller alongside a touchscreen? Some functions and situations are more suited to one or the other, so let the driver choose. This seems like a step back.
The facelifted A4 looks even more generic than the predecessor. Audi are slowly losing it in the design department, they're all over the place, lost in the woods. There's no idea, no vision, just "let's get the job done and go home". The touchscreen upgrade is a disgrace, to be honest, the screen is too far away to be used as a touchscreen, they should have redesigned the panels and moved the screen closer to the driver, like in the Q3 and other new cars. Audi, this was very, very lazy.
The overhaul of all Audi products will start after 2020/21.
Even I felt the same.....the previous generation Audi looked better
As fan of Audi design I see it similar way, Audi seems like have been hibernated for couple of years, not mentioning that all range are like smaller or bigger siblings.
Might as well make the entire windshield a touch screen...
This is so good! Remember this is just a facelift and it certainly fixes some minor flaws of outgoing models.

Quo vadis Audi? Going with a Diesel engine for the current S model range is a massive fail. Fake exhaust tips are not necessary, especially on the lower end engine models it’s a real slap on your face. The A4 Facelift looks like a cheap Chinese car, worse than the predecessor.
In the last 10-15 years Audi made some good progress to become a competitive market player when it comes to sporty design and also sporty daily drivers. Engine wise and by the looks.
Now they throw it all away. Sorry Audi, although I was a big fan and was owning and driving several of your cars, my next one won’t be an Audi.

I don't like the new vw/Audi design language, too many lines too many angles...
Not necessarily too many angles are the main factor responsible for that. For example, new A8 has only horizontal lines, but looks even worse. Like a boring Passat. Not even elegant. Those cars look just bland.

What happens with the virtual cockpit display when it starts loosing it's light strength? Does VAG have a replacement plan for screens when they start fading on the end of it's expected lifespan?

As an Audi fan, I'm totally disappointed with the S4 and A4-sline exterior styling, they made the sline looks exactly like the S model! Plus fake intakes, fake exhaust on S model! And since when we get a honeycomb grille on S and sline! Honeycomb is only for RS models! They messed up the entire lineup including the upcoming RS4 coz I won't be surprised that the rs4 will have the same exact grille plus fake intakes..
They have been doing this for a while already. Just look at the post facelift TT
I am more pissed by the fact that now both the S-line and true S model get the same "S" badge steering wheel and brake caliper. No more specific S4 badge
I wouldn't mind the honeycomb grille on an S though, they need something to differentiate it from the more mundane A model, like what BMW is doing with their M340i

As an owner of A4, A7, RS6, new gen A8 & S5 I'm talking about the fact of how they are using a bad strategy on differentiating between SLine, S model, and RS6. Honeycomb grille is always an RS signature, SLine used to have a lower trims than S model not the same! There were no Japanese-like fake intakes on sport models!
@@ewroinc I agree, but the SLine was always different than the mundane A model, it had its own trim but it was never like an S model except the exhaust system!
in the end it's the same car just with a bigger engine and small exterior tweaks (A4, S4, RS4)... the A vs S price differences imo justifies the grill difference while S vs RS isn't that big of a jump.
The "honeycomb is for RS models" is something Audi decided and they're changing it now.
The A4 is one of my favourite cars but I’m not a big fan of touchscreens. The swivel wheel works so well, I prefer it, also the new screen looks less cohesive than the pre facelift. The updated lights and front fascia look alright though. Any update for the engines ?

Not liking the facelift at all. The new turn signals look like they belong on a construction road sign, the Tablet sticks out like a sore thumb... Meh. Time for me to move over to BMW.

There are always people hating on Audi, yet the brand has increased in popularity over the years far more than BMW or Mercedes and especially their sales is going good. That A4 Avant it's my favorite. It looks stunning in those interior/exterior colors. Those red calipers remind me of the RS4 Avant so beloved among enthusiasts the first time it came to 🇲🇽.
looking forward to the new BMW 3 Series Touring... I do not like the facelift and interior changes.
Good review as always. I owned the first B9 until I changed it recently to the A7. I like some of the facelifted elements in here. I will be interested to see what Marc Lichte will do with his own A4 creation though. Loving that man’s design language.

The new look somehow looks more like a Hyundai but I think that is simply due to Hyundai having one of Audi's previous designers.

Not sure what to think, I have always thaught the current a4 is really good looking especially the the rear lights. And I can see a lot of A1 in the front similar front lights and the three "vents" over the grille
Audi designs far exceed anything in the aggressive yet elegant segment
i like the old front and tail lights much more, now it looks too similar to a6s, good thing audi still makes the best looking avants.
When the facelift for A5? next year?
Estulticiafuca I don’t have much hope based on this but the A5 looked better imo anyway so maybe it won’t look so bad. I don’t mind the tablet look screen but this one is too big with annoys me.

Why on earth do you need that enormous middle screen if the virtual cockpit can handle the navi itself.
I really feel, both audi and bmw losing momentum, especially compared to mercedes.

The front nose looks like Huyndai, but oviously Huyndai has borrowed some designs from Audi.

I'm more worried about all the weight it carries in the front; 3 litre diesel and electric motor..Makes me understeer just thinking about it..

I really like the style and the size of the screen, but I would prefer a screen that can be tucked away like the A3/S3. However, It really looks out of place in the car in terms of placement, and seems to affect the visibility.
Great job as always, but I recommend turning on the showroom lights next time. Easier to see the cars, IMO.
Totally agree, we always push for even and bright lighting, but its not our decision when the manufacturer puts up a studio

Hyundais are very well designed these days. Audi should try very hard to equal them, or at least get a bit closer, but I'm not sure they have the necessary talent. And the Genesis G70 is in an altogether different league.

Turbo blue looks lighter than Ara blue. Actually appears in this video to be similar to Porsche Miami Blue.

I just think fixed head restraint with the chairs are more suited to 2-seat cars.
Very minor improvement in looks. New headlamp is a step up from previous car and liking new blistered fender flares.
Dashboard is alright but also showing it's age. Good feature there Thomas.

I remember passat and superb (mqb)came in 2014 and audi a4(mlb) came in 2015 but now they all came in same year even tho platforms are different, great review waiting for passat facelift video, ( i have passat b8 highline which is almost same price as premium a4 b9 pricing is interesting too)

Hope that they have removed cheap plastic around door handles and dash too, which was worst the part in B9
I don't like the big frontal overhang of the A4 at all.
In comparison with the proportional perfectly designed predecassor B8 ( built until 2015 ), the front end of the car grew already by 6cm without any need for it.
By doing so the new A4 ( B9 ) looked less elegant and dynamic and more like an ant eater from the side.
I was hoping that would be corrected with the big facelift now but got disappointed unfortunately. On the contrary, the frontal overhang grew again by 2 cm, which led to a gain of 8 cm ! compared to the A4 ( B8 ) from 4 years ago.
8 cm have a huge impact on the proportions of a car.
Even though the wheel base basically remained the same, the length grew from 4,68 meters to 4,76 meters now.
The front end has certainly improvement in character a bit now by the new grill but has gotten way to long in general, as one can perfectly see at 5:03 ...
I'm not a huge fan of estates, but the A4 Avant exterior appearance is great. Someone mentioned the poor integration of the infotainment screen, yeah... I do agree.
perfect for me. DOnt like the new a7 and so on since the screen position is awkward and the reduction in buttons was too much. very good
The Ara blue is a completely different color. It's a much more deep blue metallic. Check it out the RS3.
