- This 3.0Ah knockoff battery has equivalent performance to name brand DeWALT 4.0Ah 20V lithium. But is is good value versus the genuine Dewalt? *No*. ★ Shop Gear Shirts teespring.com/... ★ Rulers/Tap and Drill Chart www.etsy.com/c...
Did you just tell us that it's not worth risking the house burn down over $12? Well la tee da, look at this corporate shill here, no problem suggesting we all waste our money. A penny saved is a penny earned and between China and me we deserve every cent. That's a solid 48 wet willies from Bobbin' Betty, ain't no value like that in any goddamn overcurrent protection lemme tell you. How much did Dewalt pay you to endorse them and deprive us all of life's simple pleasures this time?
Haven't you heard that Trump cut the TH-cam cultural transfer payments?! How am I to enjoy my caviar without the gold encrusted tureen? Glass houses Matt.
RIP in peace Bob.
AvE solid, Bahaha. Salutations from seattle.
part my french but, nah no, no, matt u got this all wrong, we buy DeWalt on our own free will, c'mon it just sounds cool Dee Waltze !!

I watch AvE because I'm guaranteed to be called a gentleman at least once a day.
I think my favorite part of your channel is when you adorable "apprentice " makes an appearance. I just love the way you shift gears.
"I need something to build."
"What do you wanna build?"
"A tower."
We don't need any paternity tests on this one, I feel.
AvE seems like such a lovely Dad, genuinely overjoyed to see his kid every time.
"i need more stuff to hammer" - Truly AvE's daughter. Cute kid!
Great vidjeo!
He's taught her early that if a bigger hammer don't fix it, your problem's electrical.
Made my day when your 2 foot apprentice walked in and you not only gave her your undivided attention but you spoke in French which is just too cute.
You're a good man and clearly a very patient loving father 👍
Love from the colonies 🇬🇧
Not many would dump 3 quarts of used transmission fluid on their workbench for a video
A visit from apprentice Chickadee and a busted bucket made this vijayho priceless.
what was he doing anyways?
Here at head4ters we're working on the exact number, have it for ya in a year or 3.
"Do not expose to the tears of a once proud manufacturing nation" - OUCH!
Wait a second...
This Old Tony warned about some sick psycho murderer that was eating WHOLE APPLES....
Please help to get this comment on top, we have to raise awareness!
is it time to panic yet
this is the first video i've seen of yours. there are countless words and terminology I cannot even comprehend. fascinating
Nathansswell it gets better over time !!
Just keep watching. I say chooch now all the time. Not to mention using the gargler.
And "release the schmoo"!
like any new language , it takes a while to speak like a native .
@@tomthompson7400 which could translate to, "til the langitch chooches it aint scmoo"
Dam I haven't laughed that hard in a long time ...that old nasty black transmission fluid oozing from underneath the bucket was classic uncle Bumblefuck.........Noooo' who could have guessed..
I just didn't understand what he was doing, because I was sure it was going to spin in the bucket and send transmission fluid everywhere. I had to pause the video to laugh at the actual result.
I thought the same thing was going t o happen Rob O'Donnell..i was ready to see it come flinging outta there and then BAM..!!!.. it looked just like the time i threw a rod in my Oldsmobile..all the oil came a gushing out from underneath...
Ha! I think I have you guys beat. The MOMENT I saw the OPEN container of dark fluid, I started the countdown. C'mon, we've all been there. Difference is, I don't think WE will be repeating the behavior...AVE? Probably so.
I'll be honest, didn't expect him to stick a hole in it, I figured he was gonna turn the fuckin' thing over somehow.
that was funny. but I just about fell out of my chair when the "skookum as frig" logo appeared in the TR corner at 9:00 :)
"papa....can i hammer anything???" epicest AvE momment evar!
Freakin lost it when she came in and said that.
The ave genes in that one are strong

One thing not mentioned was the cell chemistries, Li-ION covers a lot of different chemistries.
I did notice on the elcheapo cells ICR, Lithium Cobalt oxide. High capacity but subject to overheating and catching fire if excessive current is drawn. In some circles it is suggested that discharge current be limited to the cell capacity. i.e. for a 2000mAh cell, limit current to 2A. So two 5 cell strings in parallel, 4 amps for the elcheapo pack.
Elsewhere I found an articel by someone who pulled down their own (dead) DeWalt 20V 3Ah battry pack. The cells were marked as LGDAHB41865 which is a LG HB4 INR/NMC cell, Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide. Allegedly good for up to 30A current drain without overheating and a favourite of the vaping world.
What current does the drill draw when stalled?
Always best to keep the old battery case, and swap out the cells with new Japanese made cells. I saw that mess coming at 9:00.
17:20 wait did you just eat the sticker on that apple?
that's where all the nutritional value is hiding
awesomefacepalm I just saw that too! Mmm...extra fiber...
awesomefacepalm haha he did. They're edible, surprisingly! It's a feature, not a bug™
Got there before me lol
paper is good source of fiber. The shits need some stuffing.
So when you had the catastrophic failure of the aged transmission fluid container I sprayed the keyboard with beer, thru my nose!! Love your channel and your attitude.
You remind me of my son: He eats the muffin paper with the muffin.
Michael Steeves so does my Dog.....
kids generally don't get enough fiber anyways
Michael Steeves my dog gets too much.........
In Toronto we eat the cardboard box the pizza comes in and throw away the pizza. We are a hardy bunch here in Canada and we are also full of shit. Nyuk Nuyk.
Some of us also eat the plastic table thing that keeps pizza out of our cardboard.
"That could've been messy!"
*becomes messy
Had a couple three dudes come in from lincoLn the other day for testing and setting some welders. Had a great big load bank on wheels pushing it around and I was geeking out big time.
I can't tell if they decided not to like me when I noticed it was a miller load bank or when they noticed the wet spot on the front of my pants was getting bigger
I bought tires from Northern Tool and you could definitely tell they are made in China. Instead of saying 4-ply rating, it says 4-ply ranting.
Not 4-pry?
Mr.@@mattburchett6921 HaHa! I like ranting, 4-pry? I don't know. Don't choke on yer Brockery Mr. Matt Burchett.
northern tools always has chinesium, bought a set of test leads and broke as soon as i used them
4-ply ranting is what they do on the home shopping network
Ha. I had an engine stand that read engein stand. My toes always felt nice and safe next to it while I was working on things.
08:45 he releases the shmooo big time, even with the appropriate sound effects, too.
Stan Patterson yes, this was definitely a good way of releasing schmoo
The Shmoo hath been Released.
So sayeth the book of AVE 8:45
What, about a quart of shmooo from that one? :)
I really enjoyed this. +AvE -- If you're going to have failures and messes in the shop anyway, I say include them in the vidjeyos!
What the fuck. I started off my day watching German Shepherd training videos and I somehow end up subscribing to a channel that reviews tools.
"C'est pas ta mere", lol.
Anyhow, your daughter is too cute. "I want to build a tower". It seems she's going to follow in your foot steps.
Yeah, but she's doing it with tree carcasses. Are we sure she wasn't switched at the hospital?
Been watching your videos for quite some time. It's adorable listening to your daughter grow up and enjoy helping papa.
I've watched too many videos to know there is in fact a curse on your shop. Tools are scared and shit the bed before operation
Your daughter seems like the most precious person. Really made me happy to hear you two interacting.
AvE you are my hero and my favorite hand model
September 2019. This is still my all-time favorite AvE video. "Where pixies fail, shmoo, excells." Gold.
Please! Don't ever tell ThisOldTony you eat apples the efficient way. He'll think you are a freak.
A serial killer, to be precise.
What's to say that Uncle Bumblefuck isn't?
I didn't have a clue what was going on half this video but haven't stopped laughing yet. Earned a sub 👍😂😂
I didn't even know that metric time was a thing.
garmack12 I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not at first lol.
Your computers are doing it every day under the bonnet.
Just in case you're not being facetious, and for the benefit of everyone else:
The second is the official SI (metric) unit of time.
It's Babylonian, if not Sumerian. We haven't moved on.
gamesbok if it aint broke....you know the rest
That wasn't a battery evaluation, that was a career move. Thanks for sticking at it. I would have just weighed them by hand and said "this one's fuller!"
I must say that I have found your tests to be great " learning moments" along with laughing times so hard that snot bubbles are being produced. (I'm a messy laugher when I'm enjoying the content). I think your home made devices are just short of brilliant. Please keep up the good fight. Thank you for the excellent content.
Thanks for the big effort and meticulously detailed review! BTW... Did you just eat the LABEL on that APPLE? Had so much fun watching this review. Man funny as, especially the 2.5 foot apprentice. The tower project sounds like a good idea.
This is definitely WAY better than anything on TV. Heck, anything else on TH-cam for that matter ! Thank you so much Jean-Guy !
Dude I am laughing my ass off right now! I have been watching your videos for a couple months now and you are by far one of my favorite youtubers to watch. Now that I have learned most of your truly colorful vocabulary and the fact you do not hold back on cussing and you put out some great useful info for guys like me who love to buy tools makes your channel awesome
"Can I hammer anything?" xD
ouioui
"I think i need more things to hammer".
Clearly the lab assistant needed some therapy and knows how to get it. Its in the DNA.
wait till she's old enough to man the air chisel... ahem.. puppy hammer.
When all you know how to use is a hammer; Everything is nails.
Your Chinese battery isn't _rated_ for 3.0ah, it is _stickered_ for 3.0ah!!!
Possibly the greatest channel on youtube
We all been there buddy.
Just one condomless night on St. Cats and you're left haunted by a tower building, drill thief for the next 18 years...
you should eat your Apple axial ,not radial...
I concur.
AvE ...greetings from Arkansas...shitstorms down this way...tornadoes and flooding galore...hope yall are faring better up in Canuckistan😄
NO! The bricks of Tap Water are at critical levels. Gonna be a rough summer for shade-tree machinists!
Only an idiot would machine a shade tree
AvE love hearing you lab assistant in background me and my wife laugh all the time
SCHMOO EVERYWHERE!!! (and yeah, been there, totally saw it coming)
Started using these terms at work. 10/10 would confuse everyone again.
I would like to see the video of you building the "Tower" with Chickadee.
Always a good day when AvE uploads.
MustySWAMPFOX Thankfully he doesn't post his downloads. Canadians are known for their icebergs afterall.
Great video AvE. Really enjoyed watching you fail and falter before solving it and succeeding. Makes me want to start a project of my own.
Use magnets for the brakes on that brake rotor rig. A stationary magnet in the vicinity of the rotor should induce eddy currents into the rotors and create a braking effect.
Dude. The tape on the wedding ring is genius. I have NEVER seen anyone do that, BUT I HAVE seen people weld their ring to the frame/body of a car...
as a homegamer mechanic i DID see the oil spill disaster coming.
Regarding calculating the moment of inertia on semi complex geometries, i normally just draw it up in 3D CAD and use the program to tell me what it is. Both Inventor and solidworks has this functionality, and Inventor you can get on a "student" license for free. Its not laziness, its efficiency! ;-) You still have to take into consideration all the other factors you mentioned, but everything helps.
Not i will just take my clip board and start yelling nonsense into people!
Perfect timing, about to clean the bbq and up pops a new vidjeo! Bbq stays dirty.
Len LaBrie and the lawn keeps growing.
Len LaBrie and the kids keep starving
Jonas Endres chalk another one up to that damned old entropy.
HUBBABUBBA DOOPYDOOP damn, gotta try that!
Len LaBrie why clean it, the crums adds flavor to the next batch,
Okay on the brake rotor, use an electric brake magnet assembly ( or many) from a trailer brake setup.
If you mount the end of it or the anchor point to a electronic strain gauge and that will get you your torque reading in ounces or pounds .
By just adjusting the voltage into the magnet , you can increase the braking power of it to load up your tools heavier.
Sort of like using a pump and restricting the flow to produce pressure and convert to your needed values.
To get your RPM you can use a mechanical tachometer , and inductive trigger or photocell triggered tachometer with reflective strip at one point.
We (in the factory) use various ones for spin balancing large blower wheels for very large HVAC equipment.
Ate the sticker on your apple LOL
remember, if you use a mechanical brake on thet dynamometer you will runn the risk of the friction variating as time goes on because the "shoes" get worn out, you could use a bunch of magnets
QIXIN - pronounced "chee shin".
One translation is "starting salary". Made me laugh at least, haha
Depending on the actual characters, another translation might be "strange luck" -- 奇幸. Fitting. 😂
Best power out review I've ever seen you hit the nail on the head with this review a lot of people get confused by watts and amps per hour it's all about run time and the tool being fit for purpose.
We need a Build With Chickadee series!! 😍
Thanks for leaving in the whole process. Not editing out the ...hypotheses...lends integrity and transparency to the whole thing.
I was waiting for the bullshit meter to go PING! and head straight off into low earth orbit
FISTER87 no shit
Best video yet. Between you releasing the shmoo all over your bench and you're properly raised little one I was thoroughly entertained.
so how tasty was the sticker on the apple
That's so cute and cool!! A very nice Dad!! One hell of a cool guy his daughter comes in and asks to hammer in the middle of the production of the video and he let's her!! One hell of a scookum choocher of a father a cool guy who puts his family first!! It's so nice to know that their are good people out there!! Keep rocking on AvE!! To see that made my day man!!
Fucking rolling over here. Thanks for the laugh man.
Ditto, I loved that chickadee even knew the empire of dirt is so crowded it has to go up. LMFAO
I think you were onto something with the hydraulic pump. if you use the drill to pump fluid from one container to another you can get some nice data. if you know the mass of the fluid that was moved and the height over which it was moved , you can calculate the work.
it would make for a good comparison between batteries because the pump losses would be the same. as long as the two containers have the same cross-sectional area, you can use the distance between Center of volume as the height so you don't have to worry about the varying head pressure.
just opened a beer... great timing AvE!! thank you!!
Can we talk about your LARPiNG outfit, please?
He's trying to get into her hooharr
sadly no LARPing, the then girlfriend and I visited a castle and oh no... they left the education centre dressing up box open! so we donned a few medieval killer threads and acted out our own battle! needless to say I rescued my fair Maiden from our imaginary enemy, got some princess lovin' and now she's my wife!
sadly no real LARPing but lottery win allowing I will have a suit of armour one day!
AvE signing up to be a patron as soon as this vijeo is over! keep up the great work!
AvE I'm now a patron! just working my way through the bespoke torch videos...
thanks again for the great videos!
For the inertial tester you could:
calc the losses by going to full speed and letting it wind down while measuring the RPM and chart it by time, using that and the angular momentum you can get the losses at each speed you tested at.
(flywheel_energy_at_t1) - (flywheel_energy_at_t2) = losses_at_rpm1_to_rpm2
note: bearing temperature might affect things, how much?
You could also hook up a electric motor|generator and adjust the input power to get a stable RPM output on the inertial tester.
Now connect the motor| generator to a identical motor|generator and using the same RPM* get the difference in input power to output power, this is your motor efficiency.
*note: you have to adjust the load on the generator to make the input power the same as used on the inertial tester.
Using this efficiency number at that specific RPM and load you can remove the motor losses from the original inertial device input power to get the actual losses on the inertial device.
Brushless motors?
Worth getting one to re-pack a genuine batteria which has died I guess. Thanks for testing for us
Messy fluid accident=belly shakes! Learn something new every day. Thanks Ave
should use eddie current to test load, make your bullshit o meter out of alum. and use magnets to create eddies, more consistent results than south korea brake pad
AVE see above
David Thompson I was hitting the comments to write the same thing. Variable load for targeted resistance per tool class etc etc. quick, someone upvote this above orig comment.
Using electromagnets I mean. Variable current to create variable resistance against the tool.
There brake disks not pads
Stephen Maley - Did you watch the video?
That shit was so funny I woke my wife up I was laughing so hard. Damn near woke the kids up. This one reminded me of every project I've ever done, it went so smoothly. Thanks for the laugh.
I love the tool BS meter!!
2:31 “OMG, your lame lady”... Classic.
When and why did you start learning to speak Afrikaans (South African language). I'm absolutely loving it. You make my day every time I watch one of your videos. I love your way of thinking and doing. Regards, straight out of South Africa
"Papa, I need more things to hammer." Good to see the child rearing is coming along on schedule.
I have no idea what he's doing ever but I love watching it.
8:45 RELEASE THE SHMOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
I bet your daughter wanting to build something is probably the most fulfilling request for you! I can say the juxtaposition of your daughter vs the normal pace is hilarious. Good on you, UBF!
What would be actually a better video is if you hooked it up to the data logging and showed the curve of the voltage drop from fully charged to drain because that's where you'll see the crappiness of the aftermarket batteries if they're no good you'll see that they have a you know I voltage right away and then they taper off pretty fast you know losing their power wear a good battery like LG or whatever would hold that power voltage high for a longer. Of time and have a slower taper
Corb Lund reference! In the Wild! Wonders never cease. Skills AND taste. Hats off to you sir.
@11:30 We've reached the speed of PLAID!
The hydraulic pump test was brilliant, and I want to thank you for the sudden surg in my stock of shop rag paper towels. A bucket of oil and a drill what can go wrong. :-) Love the video and I can't wait to see the dyno test.
Chickedy is the cutest thing ever, it makes me look forwards to having kids of my own some day :)
I love when your little girl comes in, I had 3 little girls once and they are never that precious for very long.
I also want to build a tower, young child
Good day Sir,
I have recently gotten tired of my old yellow electron holders not holding any electrons. I have two of the 18 volt variety accompanied by a yellow drill and electron loader. I would be pleased to send these to you so that I don't need to throw them in the garbage, but perhaps you could make use of them in a this is what the insides of a 7 year old yellow drill looks like. It still choohes along for as long as the electrons stay in the container.
Being a home jober, I opted for the more cost effective bile green from Home Despot. Been pleased with it so far.
You can DM me on Twitter if you want these, otherwise, in the the bin.
Spanx
Laughed my ass off when that tub bust open!!! lol Thank uncle Bumblefuck!
I did too
There's nothing more exciting when that short cut fails and starts oozing towards the electrical bits on the workbench. I know that paralysis well.
This is by far the best video you've ever made
I think I need more things to hammer, that's a life metaphor right there.
This is my favorite episode! There are so many things about this video that makes it unique.
btw, Dasani is evil water.
just taking a sh** and AvE uploads, that's nice, thanks uncle bumblefuck
Jonathan Knirsch same
Watching it and shitting right now...
how else should one watch AvE?
another way to watch, is to follow AvE directions to the core, beer in hand
at least I'm not the only one who sits for a turd and sticks on an ave vid
In which everyone comes together in harmony at the realisation we all keep a bucket of used transmission fluid around the garage/workshop just in case.
9:04 I saw it coming from the moment it spun away the first time, haha... Oh man, what a clustastrophuck of a mess.
For a test device, I think a fluid clutch type device would be great. Might be able to get one out of an automatic transmission
I just brought 2 of this shits by accident, a world of advice when buying online MAKE SURE YOU BUY OEM otherwise they'll send you god knows what even if the picture looks legit.
I bought that exact battery. Put a nice 5" Hole saw in my drill and once it got hot a wire or solder joint broke. The test circuit said its good. I'm sure I could replace the wire that burned but the whole point was to have a 3.O Ah battery to run some heavy duty stuff.
Live and learn: I've never seen something like a metric watch in my life even though I'm from like the centre of metric europe LOL
BTW how did the apple sticker taste?^^ You're such a funny man. J'aime tes videos.
This had to be one of the funniest and most entertaining AvE videos ever. Exactly what I needed today!
The cells inside that Chinese battery are marked up as 2000mah, that makes no sense when you look at the claimed capacity of the battery which is 3.0ah. The batteries are in a 5s2p configuration therefore the actual capacity should be 4.0ah
W19 ELY they're probably being run below limit to get more longevity out of the batteries. Less chooch over longer usable work life.
Eliseo Jacome That's not the case in this video though, he already proved that there is no voltage cut off because he managed to discharge the cells to below 3 volts each. Therefore the bms inside the pack isn't limiting the amount of discharge.
W19 ELY shhhh stop using that math and science stuff. just trust what the sticker says. its all magic lol
Thank you for testing how long the battery lasts! As you where saying not alot of ppl tests or gives a rough estimate when it comes to batterys. You have earned my subscription :)
Not sure where you got your pricing but the Dewalt is $100 and u can buy that exact fake on eBay for $24.99
yep, the ones I have use Samsung cells too.
