Bought a cheapo 24V switching power supply from ebay. Didn't notice the smell till the fan spun up and holy! What a stink. It was doing that for a few hours until it finally aired out and now it seems fine. Yes, I'm keeping an eye on it just in case, but it's not getting THAT hot. Just barely warm.

Hey AvE, love your videos. A few comments regarding this: In addition to capacity and cold performance, cycle (how many times it's been charged and discharged) are also important. How old is your Genuine battery? It would be interesting to see how capacity changes with cycles - especially if we think that the cells in the knock off are recycled. I realise what I'm proposing is a longitudinal study (I'd be asking you to repeat your study after 300 cycles) so maybe it's not practical to do this - but I think it's worth mentioning to you ^_^
My jewelers scale. Measures in thousandths, I also use it for checking powder weights for handloads. You use the kitchen grade ones for anything over an ounce. People don't exactly measure in "lids" anymore.
