    I’m so glad you included alternatives to bananas! I’m very allergic to bananas and haven’t heard of many good alternatives for in smoothies. I’ve never heard of the cauliflower idea before, and I’m absolutely going to give it a try!

    What a useful and informative video! I thought I knew how to make a good smoothie, but I learned so much today! Love the last tip about washing your blender - definitely will be doing that from now on!

    This is hands down, the best guide I have ever watched on smoothie making. I sometimes make smoothies for breakfast, because I have early starts, and cannot squeeze in a decent breakfast. But they never fill me up! I am literally starving again, an hour later.
    But you have given some really clear and excellent advice, and so well presented. I can't wait to give these a go. Thank you so much Nisha!

    Wow quite the eye opener this video was! Didnt know of all these combinations for smoothies! I love smoothies and always wondered why my blueberry smoothie wasn’t as smooth as what you get outside! Cant wait to try your proportions!

      I’m glad you learned something new! Part of the smoothness of texture probably also depends on the quality of blender - I imagine most smoothie/juice shops have super high-end powerful blenders that can pulverize everything!

    Thank U Nisha, i enjoyed learning about freezing the cauliflower and also adding the chic peas! I make myself a smoothie every morning for breakfast and try to,load it up so I don’t feel hungry. I think I need to add a little more avocado.

    add a spoon of salt together the soap when blend washing the mixer. the gritty texture will help to remove the dirt

    I had a jar of rinsed and drained adzuki beans in my fridge, thinking I could add them (and a bit of sweetness) to my oatmeal. Anyway, I just made a smoothie with 1/2 cup of the beans, 1/2 banana, almond milk, tsp pb, cinnamon and nutmeg. It was quite tasty. But next time, since I don’t own a high powered blender, I’ll smoosh the beans first with a potato masher.

    I like to clean my blender using vinegar and water. Blend it for a good minute or more as needed. Your blender will look new again!

    Coconut oil slows down the blood flow like other oils so I wouldn't add it. Other than that, nice suggestions!

    There's no reason to worry about the sugar in a blended banana. Consuming puréed bananas doesn't induce the high sugar spikes seen when consuming apple juice or even apple purée.
    Note 1: There's no reason to worry about the sugar in any fruit if eaten in its whole INTACT form, including apples.
    Note 2: Adding berries to even sugar water dramatically blunts down the effect of sugar. I'm not saying to start adding berries to everything and just eat carelessly. I'm just highlighting the amazing benefits of eating berries and including them in smoothies.

    Great recipes. I accidentally ordered the book and had no idea that it was only for insta pot recipes. Honestly, when I think of recipe books its for just cooking or preparing meals. I do not own or care to own an instapot. I am not sure what the point of it is. I prefer cooking on a stove. Someone did give me a slow cooker which once or twice I have found to be convenient. I am wondering how I can use the recipes without the instapot directions.

    I'm not judging, but I can't wrap my head around someone who used to practice law, something that can actually help change lives significantly, to "how to build the perfect smoothie" and how to best clean a blender. Too many folks are leaving professions that can actually help society and this planet for vanity careers, especially women, and it's quite disheartening. In any event, still a subber and supporter. ✌🏾

      I understand why you might think that but I completely disagree. As someone who did practice law in two very different environments (one as a corporate lawyer and one as a nonprofit housing lawyer for low income tenants), I saw just how difficult it was to create meaningful change as a lawyer. The law is an extremely conservative, static force that is not easy to utilize for change. In my nonprofit position, I would visit the same scenarios and see the same clients in the same situations over and over again, with their lives not being assisted by the law. And as a corporate lawyer, I saw the reverse - wealthy and big corporate actors getting away with violating the law, judges and regulators looking the other way, slapping on fines instead of meaningful change. I also regularly experienced legal institutions (courts, judges, other lawyers) not upholding their legal duties and not fairly or adequate enforcing the laws on the books. It was disheartening and disillusioning to say the least. By having a platform that encourages people to eat more plants, I am reaching far more people than I could have ever reached as a lawyer (although in a different way) - because the more people who eat less meat and eat more plants, the more we protect our planet.
