When I cook I often make double or triple portions of some of the meal elements and save them in the fridge, so I can use them in the next coming days. Also if I'm firing up the oven and there is space left, I will add whatever veggies I have lying around that roughly fit the temperature and cooking time, to use them in later meals. An example could be making roasted potatoes and adding some carrots with some oil and thyme on the side.
Something I can personally find time-consuming is measuring out spices. When I get the opportunity to, I like to measure out all of the spices required for the meals I plan to cook the coming week in one go and store them in small jars until they're required. Often I'll be using a similar assortment of spices across the different meals, so measuring out all of the spices at once saves getting the jar out multiple times during the week. There were some fantastic ideas in this video and I can't wait to try them once our baby arrives-the food safety guidelines in my country (Australia) advise pregnant women to avoid salad greens, tahini, sesame seeds, and leftovers older than 24-48 hours old, which sadly rules a lot of the options out at the moment.
This is what I do. I ingredient prep. Make a pot of potatoes, chop up veggies, cook mushrooms, cook a grain like rice, cook any beans or lentils, make sauces. Then when it's time to cook most of my ingredients are ready to toss into a bowl. I'll slice up some cooked potatoes and throw them in the air fryer for 5 minutes, fill a bowl with greens and veggies, maybe heat up a grain like rice or barley. Drizzle with a tasty sauce and done!
you re seriously one of the BEST vegan food content creators out here. the amount of thought you put in your recipes is just incredible, like this meal prep is so realistic and adaptable based on where one lives, the rest of the grocery shopping like lavash, noodles are all so doable
Absolutely agree with all this but the biggest reason Nisha is the GOAT is because every. Single. Dish. Actually tastes good. I have a 14 month old and a picky eater spouse and they both inhale every meal I make from RPL.
To anyone reading this comment: take this as your sign to try this!! I have done all the recipes this week and it was incredible. I have been meal prepping for years and I grew so incredibly bored of it.... then I found this plan! The flavours are so beautifull and balanced, I started the week with the "Grain Bowl" and holy sh*t I was mindblowned by how bright it was. I am french and turns out, my mom was right, a good sauce can turn anything into a feast! Thank you for putting this great meal plan out there and to anyone else: DO IT!
Nisha - doctor here and your meals are so wonderful and complete. Your research into not only the culinary prep but also the macro/micronutrient content is so clear and thoughtful. Please keep more videos with this method coming. Love your content always!
More prep videos like this! I love this method. Been doing it for a few years now and it's fantastic. I learned it from basically how chefs prep their kitchen for dinner service. I prep the parts and then pull together quick meals throughout the week. ... I also add frozen parts that can be defrosted overnight for more ready to go items at the end of the week since most fresh ingredients only last 3-4 days.
Get out of my head, Nisha!🤣I have at least 30 years of cooking professionally and, frankly, this is what I do (as far as meal prep) with ,maybe, one more elaborate component(casserole or stew) which I freeze in small portions so I can pull them out every 3 weeks or so. You are so ahead of the game (teaching people to eat vegan) ,so talented. Honestly, I feel a little jelous of your parents... I hope they know how precious and amazing you are. And your part of making this a better planet. Much Love and Peace from Upstate NY
Love this! And it’s helpful for me in that I’m a lone vegan that has 2 carnivores in same house. I only cook for myself, thankfully, as I’m smiling at 70. Thank you for organizing this in a way that works for me, and in smaller amounts.
The meal prep took me a bit more than an hour but it was time well spent. Each meal has incredible flavor and they are all different from each other so it doesn't feel like you are eating the same thing all week. This was the best! More please!
These videos are so helpful. One suggestion can you possibly add a list of ingredients needed at the store to the PDF? This will save me so much time in the future and help with grocery shopping. Thank you. Great videos. I love them.
I’m sure I’m speaking for a lot of us when I say THANK YOU for the link to the pdf recipe document. We appreciate the fact that you do these videos and also hook us up with the actual recipe. ❤
I can’t tell you how much I adore this quick prep concept. Batch cooking a week’s worth of meals and then eating leftovers all week is not my cup of tea, so this is PERFECT! Looking forward to more quick prep ideas. Thanks so much!!
I am so doing this today! Having a newborn at home means you never know how long her nap is gonna be so I love the idea of splitting up the prepping and cooking into shorter time intervals ❤️
I like this style of meal prep way better because like you said - fresher and cuts down time and versatility. Can't stand eating the same thing on the 3rd day. Please share more of this style of meal prep!
Who wants to eat the same food more than twice in the same week? I always wondered why would TH-camrs want to advocate that silly habit? I am glad you have realised that.
When I was a student I used to meal prep a lot more (now my bf does the cooking). There is clearly an advantage in that you don't have to think about what to eat. But indeed it's sometimes very boring and things go bad sometimes. Then I switched to big batches of food twice a week and more fun stuff on the week end, that's a more sustainable way even when you eat a lot of chickpeas (those go bad so quickly)
My friend has a coworker that for like 3 years, 5 days a week has a tuna sandwich for lunch. Exactly made the same way! Some people are build differently. Even if I were made to eat my favorite dish everyday I would be suicidal by week two. 😂 first world problems, really! Food is food! But we are spoiled. I always buy my lunch and always buy from different places. It is my luxury in life. I don’t smoke, drink or really wear expensive clothing, so i don’t feel that bad! 😊
The seed mixture is so good - A couple of tablespoons of crunch on my salad makes it so special. I use anything I have in the fridge, hemp seeds, sunflower, pepitas, sesame, it all tastes great,
Absolutely love this!! This is the kind of meal prep content that’s actually helpful. Especially on a budget. I hate when a recipe says “use half an onion” or something and then I’m left trying to figure out what to do with the extra half for a meal. It seems like all the stuff here gets used, and any additional things like seasonings or a sauce to add are staples that won’t go quickly. I would honestly love a months worth of this type of meal prep content. Especially if it hopped around between different kinds of cuisines, so it stays feeling fresh. Anyways! Great video
this meal prep video is so practical. for us the people who have watched TONS of meal prep videos but never really get into it because of some (to me) are common sense and I have no idea how people rely on meal preps. this video is the answer
Yes please more of these videos! My best tip is to chop salad for 3-4 days but only mix the dressing in the portion you're about to eat. Total game changer for me.
I'm loving these meal preps! They're getting me excited about eating vegan again! For me personally, I think I'll start doing a combination of fully-prepared meals that I freeze, along with these awesome meal preps that are fresher. I think this will give me lots of variety!
Thank you so much, Nisha! I’m planning this meal prep tomorrow. New subscriber❤ I’ve been a vegetarian for 35 yrs and now transitioning to vegan. I appreciate all the great recipes and inspiration! 🍃🌸💕
Every single tip, advice, and recipe I picked up from you has been 10/10. The only creator to whose recipes I stick without adapting, because I know your version is thought through and just the best.
Love this! This is the exact kind of meal prep I like to do and there is so little content about it online, and only a fraction of the content there is out there is vegan. I would LOVE to see more of this style of meal prep video in the future because I'm always looking for ideas.
This is just exacty the kind of meal prep that works for me! Even though meal prep has so many advantages, i alwayd give up quickly because i get overwhelmed with preparation, planning, and I CAN'T predict what my future self wil want to eat. This method is just so so great cause it gives me a just enough help during the week and l don't get overwhelmed.
This is a game changer! I am so bored of eating the same meal daily and you're absolutely right, by day 3 it does not taste good 😝 You are an angel sent from heaven, thank you! 👼😍
Nisha, your recipes have become the staple meals of our home. I love the way you combine culinary artistry with practicality. You’ve taught me how to fall in love with cooking again, and it’s always exciting to see what dish you will teach us about next. The amount of thought and practice you put into each step, ingredient, and dish never ceases to teach me something new. Your recipes are to be treasured. As far as I’m concerned you are the Ina Garten of my life. Thank you. Will be trying everything of course, I definitely need these crispy beans in my life. ❤
Please take this off TH-cam and SELL IT! This is too good to be free! 👏😍 Nisha, you're simply the best - there's nothing else I can say... Oh, and I hope you got the cookbook I sent you! 😊
This is so great! The biggest reasons I don't meal prep i are 1. Lack of variety, 2. I like eating my food freshly cooked when it's hot most of the time. This solves both problems and will still save me time.
This video was delightful ❤ I make a weekly hummus- I switch it up weekly so I alternate between beet hummus, pea hummus, sweet potato hummus etc always something different. I roast up some seasonal veg twice a week, make a homemade dukkah and a simple dressing. I’m definitely going to try your green sauce it looks like a great way to make use of herbs on hand.
i'm a full on carnivore but i love you and having recently started getting curious about healthier eating, your videos are seriously inspiring, i wish i knew abt ur videos sooner! i def wanna try all of ur recipes and may i say you are also just a lovely human being and i wish i had a friend like you!! the way you jump and clap after eating your completed food is so innocent and pure but also mirrors exactly how i feel about amazing food 💯
Thank you for your videos i am 41 years old from vienna and this is my first comment ever because your recepies are great and easy. Please more videos like this. I already tried some things...everthing was perfect. Thank you soooooo much and greetings from vienna
Your technique of preparing and storing components separately, rather than mixing them together to get five of the same meal, has made a huge difference in how I eat as a student! I don’t have time to cook every night but have been able to eat super well with lots of variety. Excited to get more elaborate with meal prep once I graduate :)
I'm doing this meal plan this week and loving it so far! I've been eating such rubbish recently without any motivation to cook but I've always hated the thought of eating the same meal a billion times in a week. I felt so smug assembling my lavash wrap this evening! Please make more of these !!!!
I made this all almost exactly for this week and I am obsessed with the wrap! This was so great and I so appreciate the work you put into it! It saved me loads of time and it is flipping delicious!
I just wanted to say that I made your creamy herb sauce with hemp seeds instead of cashews due to my husband's allergies and it was AMAZING! I've been putting it on everything. So YUM! Thank you so much for the recipe.
Its interesting to me how similar this meal prep is to what I do with my job at a small meal kit company. Doing some of the steps again of time streamlines the cooking process and makes it easier to actually make the meal when your motivation is low and you are feeling hangry. Love this.
We just finished making all of the meals in the pdf (and I made the wrap for three consecutive lunches, switching up between tofu and crispy beans because it was INSANELY delicious!). Everything was so good!!! Thank you for coming up with this style of meal planning - it’s exactly what I was looking for! My husband and I are hooked and are sooo glad you’re offering the meal planning service now - I just subscribed! We are not strictly vegan, but we love to eat plant based when we can and are so excited to have three nights (and some days) of plant based deliciousness without needing to think too much! Thank you, Nisha!!
Did the meal prep for this the other day and finished the rest this morning. This meant that I got to have the lavash wrap for lunch. It’s heavenly! Thank you, Nisha! I’m so excited to try another meal this evening.
On Sundays I make a pot of rice and bake tofu on a sheet pan while roasting an assortment of veggies in a baking dish. Then I combine them with various sauces/condiments throughout the week. Saves a ton of time and thought, and only takes about an hour out of my weekends.
I loooove these type of videos, please do more. I consider this more food prep than meal prep, and quite honestly this type of prep is harder to find content on, esp for vegans! Thank you for the ideas :)
Thank you very much for this step-by-step! It's just in time for me as I'm trying to reconfigure some daily planning with the younger kid starting high school next week and the older one having moved out over the summer. It's like a whole new household. Having new ideas like this one here will hopefully inspire easier dinner/lunchbox times throughout the week.
Thank you so much for this video! Meal prep videos like this are incredibly helpful for someone who is new to cooking and plant based meal prepping! I love all your content and would love if you were able to do a weekly meal prep series as it’s difficult to find plant based meal prep videos.
I used so many of your meal preps and recipes and my improved health is all the results I need, not to mention so much flavor, texture, and nutrition! Thank you!
I viewed your quinoa video and it CHANGED my life. I eat toasted quinoa with different seasonings and add ons - chopped up herbs. Raw or roasted veggies, fish, yougurt, or just a handful in beteeen meals, and it is so satisfiying and tasty. Thanks for these tips - I am on a quest to improve my guy health and your recipes are easy and delicious to this end.
Thank you! Meal prep- tried it and promptly stopped for the very reason you stated- I woul get bored of the same meals and ended up wasting food because I would throw out the prepped food towards the end of the week. All of these dishes you've presented look delicious, I love the spicy ingredients! I am impressed by how versatile the components are, and the potential for a variety of meals has me sold. You are great to offer the PDF- SO helpful!!
Thank you for sharing your recipe guide. I'm not vegan but I love vegetables and am not adverse to incorporating more plant-based meals in my rotation.
This is exactly what I’m looking for, thank you! A big fan of condiments and additions, but hard to add extra work often, this is the perfect way to do so effectively. And same feelings about the same meal every day, I think I’d lose my passion for cooking if I did that. You are awesome and appreciate your genuine and fun attitude. THANK YOU!
I haven’t made any of these delicious looking meals yet, but I’m very excited to do so on my next day off. Your tips on meal prepping and make ahead ingredients are going to be an invaluable time saver. I’m transitioning into eating healthy so your videos are actually helping to make this all so simple and easy. Thank you so much.
I tried the pickled onions and peppers recipe and it was amazing...Mild but spicy, and adds amazing flavor to sauteed cabbage....it's a keeper! I forgot to add, I bought fermentation weights to keep the veggies submerged. I'm hoping it lasts longer.
This is so helpful! I have surgery in a couple of weeks and won't feel like cooking for a while. Now I can do some prep and have everything ready to assemble. Thanks so much!
Nisha you made it looks so simple but yet it is so delicious, just love it, anyone can be a vegetarian without missing the meat and it is so much healthier, tastier and delicious.
Seriously, thank you. My husband thanks you. This plan is a life saver. The recipes are delicious. I love the flavors, I love the simplicity. So good. I would be thrilled to see more of these abbreviated meal prep plans!
This is something I do sometimes and I love the ideas you shared in this video, sometimes prepping individual ingredients and mixing and matching is superior to regular meal prepping. ❤
YES!! When I was working full-time and had NO time, eating the same lunch and/or dinner all week was a necessity, but now, I need some variety. I already steam a big batch of Yukon Gold potatoes each week, and I'm going to add your ideas as well. Thank you! Cheers
Amazing timing once again! I will be playing in the Superbowl of Volleyball tournament from Sept 5 to 10, and will be living out of my camper for that week. As a vegan I will have to be making all my own meals (the campground caters to carnivores only) but I will be playing volleyball all afternoon, so spending an hour or more preparing meals isn’t a viable option. I was really stressing about what to do for food, but after watching this amazing video I see I can do much of the prep the night before I leave, and then quickly assemble my meals each evening after volleyball is finished. Your suggested menu looks scrumptious and I will probably make all those dishes as shown, and I also plan to pre-prepare your lentil ‘bolognese’ pasta sauce for a super-easy pasta meal the night I arrive, and I think your “Creamy coconut rice with 5-spice tofu” will work well with the tofu pre-prepared as shown in this video, and I’ll also make a batch of your vegan chili ahead of time for something I can just reheat when I’m too tired to do anything more. Your recipes are a mainstay of my cooking, and your uncanny timing with videos showing recipes and techniques just when I need them is amazing. Thank you for all your excellent content!
Always nice to hear from you! I’m honored that my recipes are a staple in your cooking. I think the bolognese sauce is such a great one to make ahead! Good luck with your volleyball tournament!
I like what you’re doing, the meal prep idea makes a lot of sense. The idea of preparing food before eating so it stays fresh is also nice. I just generally have issues with these unstructured random bowls of food. Unlike traditional recipes, these bowls don’t have any flavor or real texture cohesion. Don’t get me wrong, I also make them because I’m busy, but they don’t taste as good as a well thought-out recipe, it just gets the job done.
This semi meal prep is perfect! I gave up on meal prep, but this is genius. Plus I learned a couple things along the way, including a better way to do tofu. ❤
I love your recipes! I think with meal prep, it comes down to "choose your hard." For example, I don't want to think about food during the week, and I certainly don't want to cook during the week. I don't want to deal with the dishes (I don't have a dishwasher) and I don't want to take the extra time or brainpower for midweek cooking (since I live alone and don't need anything fancy for just myself). Would I *rather* eat something different every day? Sure. But given the choice between "variety but requires daily cooking" and "boring sameness but only cook once a week" I'll usually choose the latter. Other people will obviously make different choices, and that's totally valid.
I used to do this when I was working and going to school full time. Shopping on weekends, prep ingredients same day, then use prepped ingredients during the week for 15 minute meals.
I made the first three recipes this week. My husband was skeptical when I told him they'd be vegan, but we both loved all of the meals. I spread out the meal prep over both Saturday and Sunday since the to-do list looked kind of overwhelming at first glance, but it really wasn't too bad, and made my weeknights SO much easier! Those crispy baked beans were divine.
I was pretty sceptical about meal prepping before but after watching your video I guess im gonna give it a try!!! Plus tahini is actually pretty widely used in Chinese cuisine tooo!!! The combination with soy sauce and black vinegar is like one of my favourite condiments ever. Thanks for sharing your wonderful recipes and ideas. Love
This is great for at home meals. But i usually meal prep for work lunches and i don't have time day of to cook anything and even if i leave it for night before it doesn't happen bc im tired after work and leave early in the morning for my 12hr shift. So can you please also make meal prep video for fully prepared meals for 3 days. Using mostly same ingredients (so you dont waste a lot of time meal prepping) but different meals each day (for variety). Thank you!
I’m not a vegetarian, nor do I ever want to live that way, but you seriously have some of the best food content on YT. Thank you for sharing. Plus, you make it fun.
This is great. Meal prepping is always a struggle because I find it difficult to plan meals with common ingredients. If you published an extended version of the free PDF I would buy it in a heartbeat.
@Rainbowplantlife I think you should do it. A lot of us don’t have the first clue on how to create a meal plan and provide proper nutrition, so meal plans definitely helps
You should do this, I made my own menus with shopping lists and recipes and it has changed my life and I don't know why there aren't more paid products like this. We don't need hello fresh or microwave meals, we need prepared shopping lists and instructions!
Just finished your Perfect Pasta with herbs! All three of my carnivorous asked for more. Beautiful recipe! I just want to mention that I've done the meal prep and it made a difference. The crispy beans are so good, I'm impressed! And if you don't have cherry tomatoes just cut a normal one. Big hug from us!
Hi friends, what is your best meal prep tip?
When I cook I often make double or triple portions of some of the meal elements and save them in the fridge, so I can use them in the next coming days. Also if I'm firing up the oven and there is space left, I will add whatever veggies I have lying around that roughly fit the temperature and cooking time, to use them in later meals. Make extra rice the night before. Cook too much. Let the extra cool off then refrigerate. Now you have the makings of a good fried rice the next day
Storing veg and herbs the right way in the fridge, much less food waste and more inviting produce to inspire ideas 💡
Watching you! x
This is what I do. I ingredient prep. Make a pot of potatoes, chop up veggies, cook mushrooms, cook a grain like rice, cook any beans or lentils, make sauces. ❤
what a sweet comment! Thank you for making my day. I’m so honored my content has helped you love cooking. The Ina Garten line had me 🥹🥹🥹
Your meal prep videos are my FAVORITE! Please more 🤍
Noted 😉
Please take this off TH-cam and SELL IT! This is too good to be free! 👏😍 Nisha, you're simply the best - there's nothing else I can say... Oh, and I hope you got the cookbook I sent you! 😊
This is so great! The biggest reasons I don't meal prep i are 1. Lack of variety, 2. I like eating my food freshly cooked when it's hot most of the time.
This solves both problems and will still save me time.
starting my new year of school and work next monday, i can not wait to start meal prepping with these tips & recipes 💖💖
This is how I meal prep too! It's so much better than 5 day old meals!!
i'm a full on carnivore but i love you and having recently started getting curious about healthier eating, your videos are seriously inspiring, i wish i knew abt ur videos sooner! i def wanna try all of ur recipes and may i say you are also just a lovely human being and i wish i had a friend like you!! the way you jump and clap after eating your completed food is so innocent and pure but also mirrors exactly how i feel about amazing food 💯
This is what is called a perfect meal prep!!! Saves Time ✅ fresh meals ✅ tasty ✅ not boring ✅ healthy ✅ colorful ♥️
What i hated about mealprep was having stale food at the end of the week (which i do not consider healthy) . Your tips are so helpful😍 thank you
Thank you for your videos i am 41 years old from vienna and this is my first comment ever because your recepies are great and easy. Please more videos like this. I already tried some things...everthing was perfect. Thank you soooooo much and greetings from vienna
This meal prep to make different dishes throughout the week was a grand slam! Thank you!
This is amazing! Unfortunately, I go into the office and need meals prepped and ready to go.
You are not just amazing at what you do, you are also funny and witty. Thanks ❤
this is grade A+ cooking channel right here. your amazing!
I made this and you're not exaggerating about the huge flavors! What a treat. Thank you for the deliciousness
It's 2024 and I'm working to get back on track. This separate meal component method is exciting to me. Great approach 👍
Thank you!
Now that's a common sense meal prep. I love it. Everything looked sooooo delicious. Thanks much.
I viewed your quinoa video and it CHANGED my life. I eat toasted quinoa with different seasonings and add ons - chopped up
herbs.
Please do this exact topic again with new things to prep and make! Loved this so much
Seriously, thank you. My husband thanks you. This plan is a life saver. The recipes are delicious. I love the flavors, I love the simplicity. So good. I would be thrilled to see more of these abbreviated meal prep plans!
This is my kind of meal prep! Would love to see one w/ more wintery meals (like some soups/stew/curry action). ❤
This is something I do sometimes and I love the ideas you shared in this video, sometimes prepping individual ingredients and mixing and matching is superior to regular meal prepping. ❤
Love this! It would be amazing as a series!
Brilliant! I have never meal prepped, but I think this will help just to eat healthier for the whole family. Thank you
YES!! When I was working full-time and had NO time, eating the same lunch and/or dinner all week was a necessity, but now, I need some variety. I already steam a big batch of Yukon Gold potatoes each week, and I'm going to add your ideas as well. Thank you! Cheers
Honestly, you’re recipes and ideas are legendary. LOVEEEE your content.
Your my new favorite chef!! It’s actually a relief finding your channel
I am following the recipes and I did the meal prep portion yesterday. I just made the herby pasta salad with baked beans today. It tastes really good!
Thank you thank you! This is really helping me revamp my thinking about meal prep (which I suck at). I would love more meal prep meal plans!
Amazing! Finally, a healthy meal prep that was exactly what I have been looking for.
Thank you SO MUCH!!!!
Sure. And you can even vary that, like cooking two meals and switch or freezing some meals for later to mix up the prepped meals for that week.
Totally! We all have different priorities, schedules, hurdles. If it works for you, that’s the most important part.
You’re a genius and full of fun ! Thank you for all you do
I used to do this when I was working and going to school full time. Shopping on weekends, prep ingredients same day, then use prepped ingredients during the week for 15 minute meals.
You can also reuse the brine from store bought pickles to quick pickle-just heat the brine on the stove before you pour it over veggies.
please make more of these, they are a game changer!
You are a real blessing for every vegan. Thank you!
This is great. Meal prepping is always a struggle because I find it difficult to plan meals with common ingredients. If you published an extended version of the free PDF I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I would pay good money for meal prep plans from you! So practical, healthy, and delicious!
🤔🤔🤔
Anyone else out there feel the same way? 👀
Yes, please!!! A meal planner from you is the dream!!! Thank you Nisha for this video & meal plan!
