Great vlog mate, yeah u could of just swapped coils around like most of us would of but great presentation of scope and technique great explanation and to some people just getting into scope diag invaluable...Nice job.

I always enjoy ignition waveforms diagnostics. I know you have many work to do and videos are not priority , but it would be great to include current ramp of the coil. I'm one of the little mechanics who still use "ohms checking" . Since they're 2 wire coils i would love to see ohms checking the coils - the bad vs the rest 3 vs the specs in the manual. Also the number 1 ignition waveform seems to have problems with the burn line. I'm sure the large gap killed the coil#3. The coil keeps higher and higher KV as the plug gap gets larger, and the coil gets hotter and finally fails. I've heard of primary coil strings insulation inside the coil could get so hot it would melt and then the coils short with each other and drops the resistance. From this the computer burns because of the higher amps from the transistor since this is a two wire coil. But who cares, always enjoying your videos.👍🔧

Thanks for the video, Pico familiarization is always, good even if I don't personally own one.
Do you own a GTC 505 ignition analyzer? I usually use it as a first easy step.
(Please ignore any negative comments, they are made by insecure people, your videos are always excellent).

I use to have the GTC, but I didn't use it as much and sold it. And thank you for the positive words, thank you for watching!

DAMN I just wrote a long both positive and negative comment but you hit on most of the negative. I want scope patterns so no complaing from me there, the complaint that I will publish is the fact that too many YT guys dont know the name or year of the vehicle in front of them when all that info is right there for the grabbing or on the scanner if you just get setup a little for the video. If you really dont know, then dont say it, just post it as the title of the video and dont hurt your rep bro. I commented on the Land Rover about double swapping coils and plugs, mix up the holes please, sometimes the owner is looking over our shoulder like we are here with you, it does not look good to move parts around twice, cheers.

I guess in 4 cyl engines its best to do the swap test first just to save some time. And the balance test can also be done easily?

      Yes that's correct

You need to pick up a white lab coat and wear it for your next video. Get it embroidered ‘Dr. DTech’ on the front. 👍🏼

Im having rough idle and I just changed the spark plugs but not the coils, no check engine light but rough idle and engine surges at idle and sometimes while driving, could that still be a coil issue?

I would venture to say that most likely not, I would check oil level and condition and see, the multiaire engines are very sensitive to oiling issues.

@@DTEAuto oil does need to be changed soon , it’s a little over min on the stick . Would that cause the car to surge in rpms every few mins? Feels like a misfire but doesn’t throw engine light or code . It did have a misfire in cyl 2 before I changed the spark plugs and battery and alternator . Now no code
