  • Chicken Liver (Nando's style)
    INGREDIENTS
    500g chicken liver
    300ml Nando's peri peri sauce (i am using hot, you can use whichever you prefer)
    1/2 tsp garlic paste
    1/2 tsp crushed black pepper
    1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
    1/3 cup olive oil
    METHOD
    - wash and pat dry the chicken liver
    - in a bowl, add in the chicken liver, garlic paste, crushed black pepper and lemon juice and mix it all well and put it aside for 10 minutes
    - add the olive oil to a pan and heat up on a high flame
    - add in the chicken liver mixture to the pan of heated oil and allow to cook until it lets out its own water
    - continue cooking on a high flame until the water the mixture has let out is dried up and the oil has began to separate
    - once oil is separated add in the Nando's peri peri sauce and continue to cook on a high flame
    - cover and cook for as this will prevent any splatters, making sure you stir occasionally.
    - once the sauce and chicken liver is mixed well together the oil will separate and at this point you will need to cover and allow to simmer for 2 minutes on a very low flame
    - after 2 minutes your chicken liver is now ready to be served. Serve with bread rolls, enjoy!

    Tried this recipe and it was amazing. The method of cooking (maybe the lemon juice marinade) makes the livers so juicy and tender, just like the nandos version if not better. Thanks!

    I'm from the US, and have actually been to one of the original Nando's Restaurants in Johannesburg South Africa, as well as locations in Toronto and Chicago. I've always loved chicken livers anyway, but when I had Nando's Peri Peri Chicken livers, it was LOVE AT FIRST BITE!
    Over the weekend, I found some chicken livers in the freezer that I had forgotten about. I didn't want to make them in my usual smothered with onions recipe so I Googled to see if I could find a receipt for Nando's style especially since I found some two bottles of Nando's sauce (extra-hot and garlic flavor that I mixed together) in my cabinet as well.
    I just made this for lunch and served them over Red Rice. OMG!!! it was so good, I ate it slower than normal just to savor the flavors. Thank you so much for this recipe.

    I’ve made this recipe several times with some tweaks. It is delicious! Thank you for sharing it with us.
    ALSO, you have an incredibly graceful manner of responding to all these unnecessarily mean comments on your video thread. I wanted to say thank you for that too - you keep shining your light just the way you are. The ones who appreciate your work, we will always out number the importance of those who simply want to be mean! Constructive feedback is one thing, but being rude is never ok.

    • @mycooking98

      You can use any other type of spicy sauce instead, however to get the proper nandos style taste it needs to be nandos peri peri sauce.

    One question - at what point of the cooking do you salt the chicken liver?
    Thank you.

    • @mycooking98
      @mycooking98  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the feedback. You do not need to add salt to this recipe as the nandos sauce has salt in it so there is no need to add more.

    • @mycooking98
      @mycooking98  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you overcooked it after adding in the nandos sauce, as the sauce is what keeps it creamy. Also you can try and break the liver pieces into smaller chunks whilst cooking them as this will bring out a better taste.

      The length of the cooking process is to eliminate any smell from the liver, the end result is not to be missed. Do try it out and see for yourself. Please subscribe to my channel and share with family and friends. Thank You 😊

    Cooked your liver far to long dear its rubbery like that liver should be buttery

    • @mycooking98
      @mycooking98  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the feedback, sorry to hear your liver turned out rubbery, the cooking process taken is to eliminate any excess water to reduce the smell. I have tried this on many occasions but have never experienced it to turn out rubbery so not sure what has gone wrong with your recipe.

    Way too much oil and your not supposed to boil olive oil on high heat. Do your research.

    • @mycooking98
      @mycooking98  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for your feedback, regarding too much oil, you should always adjust according to your own preference just like you would with the salt and spice. However going on to the point of not boiling olive oil than i can assure you that aslong as it does not exceed 350°F it is safe and it most definitely has not exceeded that limit at any point during the cooking process for this recipe as you need to take into consideration the steps which bring down the heating point eg the water let out from the liver, the adding of the sauce and than the reducing of the heat towards the end. I hope this clears up your concerns and if you are still not satisfied with using olive oil than there is no issue with replacing it with any oil of your choice.
