    This was a really good review. I have one of these and I’ve used it a lot around the house for metal and masonry with a diamond blade. It’s a great tool and is going strong after nearly six years.
    But, more importantly, you taught people one of the most critical safety items, and that’s flipping the arbor nut for cutting discs. It is such a simple thing, but you’d be amazed at how many people forget or don’t know to do it.
    Well done.

    Appears most users do not read the manual. This grinder is meant for grinding and sanding, not cutting. Therefore, it uses Type 27 depressed center discs (like the one it came with), not the Type 1 flat discs. The guard is not made to handle the Type 1 discs.

    • @wastedcentury1805
      @wastedcentury1805 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct. But there are Type 1 guards from other grinders that can be swapped into the Ryobi. That's what I did. I believe it was a Craftsman. Perfect fit.

    Yup, I am also guilty of not reading the manual prior to using. I cut 5 days of stones, metal & blocks with TYPE 1 blades.
    To my defense, it would be nice if Ryobi could write on the box " USE ONLY TYPE 27 DISCs"
    I returned it for one which allows BOTH types (for warrantee concerns only)

    Helpppp 😂 I bought a 4” diamond blade which is much thinner and I definitely installed it all wrong. The blade like fell off while I was using it. I’m cutting tile. Now I have 3 pieces. The two black pieces and then a little gold ring? I can’t find my manual and can’t seem to figure this out 🤷🏼‍♀️☹️

    Back the cut off disc with a thick washer so the nut that comes with the angle grinder can center the disc

    I did it the opposite and ruined my blade. Thanks for sharing! BTW--I love this thing. It sounds crazy, but I had a metal plate that wouldn't unscrew from the bottom of my drain basket in my kitchen sink. I spent two days with trying to get that thing off, it wouldn't budge. I cut right through it in less than two minutes with this thing!

      Very heavy too ... but which indicates it's build to last (?). I eventually got the on/off power switch to turn on lol - awkward AF on the corded unit I bought which appears similar as this model. Can't make everything working perfect ... as per usual.

    What's really confusing is the manual says do not use type 1 disks, but there are also type 27 cut disks. Now, does that mean I cannot use a 1/8" thick type 27 cutting disk, just because "this product is for grinding and sanding only"??? That's disappointing.

    Wait- the manual clearly states no flat (type 1) blades, only Type 27 (depressed center). Pasted below...
    'DANGER: Use ONLY Type 27 depressed center wheels (such as the one provided with this product). NEVER attach a Type 1 straight or cut-off wheel to this angle grinder. This product is only designed for grinding and sanding. Use for any other purpose is not recommended and creates a hazard, which will result in serious injury.

    DANGER...Do not use this grinder with this wheel cover, and a cut off blade. The cut off blade you purchased is not designed for this grinder. The instructions tell you not to use this grinder for cutting (cut offs). An exploding wheel will not stop with that type of wheel guard.
