16:24 AMD does have "Studio drivers" equivalent called "AMD Software: PRO Edition" which are also compatible with their consumer cards such as the 7900XTX (latest version from December 2023) and are supposed to be used by those whose main focus is not gaming with their RADEON card.
How much performance do you think you'd lose in games (and vice versa) if you used their version of 'studio drivers'? I wouldn't have to switch back and forth between the gaming optimized and studio optimized all the time. Just curious.

@@FONVashI might be wrong but I am pretty sure "pro" or "studio" drivers are just drivers that are more stable than game drivers, and they receive less updates than game drivers. So the performance loss in games should be negligible

@FONVash I have an amd card. Used both adrenaline and pro. No difference. Pro was more stable until it wasn't for gaming and there's so few updates for pro if it "breaks" you're stuck for a long time no matter how many bug reports you send. I switched back to adrenaline.
The current adrenaline is pretty good, but I'm switching to nvidia soon anyway. When it comes to productivity, amd just isn't there yet.
For gaming, I'd get the 7900xt or 7900xtx. Wouldn't waste my money on anything else. I see a lot of people now buying the 6900xt and I'm not in favor. Old tech at nearly the same price as newer tech. I'd rather save up another $200 or whatever and get the newer cards with the latest tech. I think 7900xtx is one of the best cards on the market especially for its price. Could it do 3D rendering and a few other things on par with nvidia I'd have bought it no questions asked.
But my issue is if I'm paying $1000 for a gpu I want it to have good to great performance in every single area. With amd that's not the case. I'll be trying nvidia. If the new card doesn't live up to my expectations I'll return it for a 7900xtx
there are three problems, there is no $999 USD equivalent price tag RTX 4080 Super outside of US and even with much higher price tag ($1100-$1500 range) most of the shops there is no inventory... all sold or there wasn't any. And the third issue - which might be only for me - but if the 4090 has 24GB ram why the 4080 super has only 16GB and not 20GB?
They're selling the 4080 super for like $1500-$1600 and are mostly sold out in the U.S.A....There are RTX 4090 cards for $1800. At this price it's either 7900XTX for $1,000 or splurge for a 4090 if you have the money. The 4080 super is a giant nothing burger F**K You from NVIDIA and the market reflects this approach too. The benchmarks show either zero performance gains to "up to 2-3 fps" difference at 4k. The RTX 4080 Super is the biggest flop from Nvidia I have ever seen. They could have at least made it 20GB GDDR6X with a 320 bit bus(MINIMUM) and it would have at least had "some value."

There wasn't much 4080 Super stock at launch, which was confirmed by Moores Law is Dead retailer insiders. Which makes sense as it launched during the Chinese New Year. Production would only ramp up after. There should be a decent amount of stock available in Q2.

But they AREN'T $1000! (Okay, yes a few of them are :) ) The Zotac Extreme is $1200 and the Asus is $1600. The 7900XTX is $950-1050 for the best 3rd party OC'd models; the build quality and cooler on the Sapphire Nitro+ slays Zotac and Asus imho.
Here in austria they cost pretty much the same but the XTX uses more power which is huge in europe right now
Nope i bought the Asus Tuf Gaming RTX 4080 Super for 1119€ and the RX7900XTX is 1065€ So only54€ difference between a rocksolid Nvidia drivers and AMD glitches and poor FSR...no thanks! I am living in the Netherlands. And most of the 4080S are sold out now.

Issue with Amazon in my country is they charge import and shipping fees. So if I got a 4080 super for $999, import fees are about $200 and shipping about $50 ... so we're paying the exact same for a 4080 and 4080 super, which in my country is going at the same rate Americans pay for a 4090.

Studio drivers, but launch day gpu coverage will have game ready drivers, coz no studio driver available. No performance difference, just stability.
Which card would you choose for video editing? I'm using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Topaz Video AI... Also using a Red Giant Plugins which adds a lot of FX rips off the card...

Eh something is wrong with the Power Draw of 7900XTX. Even at default it draws 390W and with +15% on Power Consumption it draws 450W depending on the model, apparently others have it up to 465W. The Hellhound Ive heard that it has 415W maximum as its only 2x 8 Pin

Is the 4080/4080 super good enough for 4K video editing in Resolve, or will it run out of vram when using denoising and vfx?

I edit 3 camera multicam: 4k+ 4k+6K with colourgrade, effects & Broll on top at full resolution and then I got 18GB of VRAM usage, I think you'll be fine with just 4k video editing in Resolve. DaVinci might use as much as you have, but it doesn't mean it will be slow :)

Sadly the power delivery was cut down on the 4080 Super so those slight increases on the AD103 die are almost pointless in some games. Still, the $200 price cut is nice, and that did make some room for a 4080 Ti using a cut down AD102 die. Sadly we'll probably never see a 4080 Ti though due to lower binned AD102 dies being used for the RTX 5000 Ada workstation cards. I ended up going with a Tuf 4090 OC for 4K VR gaming, and I've been incredibly happy with my choice :).

from what I see the 4080 super is sometimes priced higher than the regular 4080 in comparisons listings. BTBH the super is mostly out of stock, which is why I think prices are going to be higher

I got the PNY OC 4080 Super from Bestbuy yesterday for $999.

What's even more crazy is that the OC models are only faster by mere 50 or 60 Mhz lmao And they can't even be better binned since all of the 4080 Supers are using the absolutely maxed out AD103 die all of them are top notch quality silicon. So pretty much anyone spending more on OC models are clowns.

@@BAMTVone Haha, I agree - also, should mention in Blender - need to use HIP-RT - the ray tracing acceleration - if it doesn't work, fine - but, HIP = CUDA (more or less) and Nvidia is using OptiX for Blender - so, that explains why the scores are so much higher with Nvidia. I'm not sure if AMD will catch up much if it is ever fixed/working but that's the issue. I am mostly looking at a gpu for video editing but Blender is interesting, too. Yeah, he needs to re-test the 7900 XTX!!!
Will a better GPU affect thumbnail creation and screen draw times?
As a video hobbiest I cannot justify the $1000 price for these. However, I was able to raise the $850 needed to buy the RTX 4070 TI Super for MSRP plus $50 tax in CT. I'm sporting a 3070 TI now with the paid version of Studio. 😂

Finding a 4080 super anywhere near msrp is impossible here in the states.

I normally don't leave comments but I can't help myself with this MSRP BS in New Zealand. The regular 4080 used to cost around $2000 NZD, cheapest I have see was $1800. The new 4080S is around $2200-2300 NZD (Starting from). HOW ON EARTH is it more expensive when they are suppose to be ($200 USD) cheaper according to the media? This thing should be around $1650 NZD now. WTF is going on? Is it MIB's fault that they jack up the price or is the retail's fault that they just want to make more money on top? This is fking beyond me.

I saw someone doing 3d modelling with their gigabyte vision 3090 with 750watts psu. Since it has only 2x8pin for their power connector it runs no problem.

"The CPU isn't that bad for gaming, and 32GB of RAM should be the default. However, here in the UK, it's the entry level for the 4080, so it shouldn't bottleneck, but that's the minimum you should aim for.

got cl32 32gb 6400m/t ddr5 ram for 70$ soo 16gb just wont cut it...but nice specs for a decent build :) minus the ram
The AMD drivers are fine if you use the right driver. Dont use adrenalin, but pro.
Why aren't you using the latest version of pugetbench or premiere pro?
You have a small mistake in the spcifications: The momoryspeed is 23gb/s instead of 22.4gb/s wich increases the mem bandwith to 736 instead of 716.8 so that is also a small difference. I expect the speed to be 3 to 5% more then the 4080 non super in total with new driver updates. Also the base and boostclock is higher then the FE 4080. We usually compare the AIO cards instead of the FE ones.
Tthe 4080 is currently sits on the $200 cut price in my local area while the super took its (4080) previous place. So I guess in terms of price to performance it's quite the steal for the non super, right?
I was right, considering that there is some $300 gap between the two, all that ~5% performance/spec differences are practically a non-compromise.

I got the ZOTAC AMP because it looks fkin awesome and performance is almost equal in all of those cards tbh. Its more about the looks and the ZOTAC has some nice reflections which would look great in combination with RGB Fans

MSI has been doing a very bad job in the RTX 40 series and RX 7000 series GPUs. Often overpriced and the performance isn't just there either. Thermals are often mediocre and the Ventus especially, utter garbage. I'd personally go for the Zotac, they provide more warranty as well.

I have a question, should I take the 14900k or the 14900kf for the 4080 super?
The difference between those processors is negligible and essentiallythe same except for the existence of an iGPU. If you want an iGPU, which is great when troubleshooting in certain cases or to have as a backof, get the 14900K if it's the same amount or a few dollars premium. But if you can save serious money with the kf model, got for it if you don't mind not having an iGPU.

Get the 14900k. Even if you don't use the iGPU, they have media codecs, and you never know if you have to troubleshoot the GPU
imo they shuld go for something more in between as there is ZERO preformance dif between the 4080 and the 4080s.. (so the super should just be called TI and have 12k shader unites, 400 TMUs, 90 RT Cores and 20 GB Vram! and use about 400W)

What about price to performance value for video editing in Premiere between the 4080 Super and the 4070 TI Super? Bang for your buck? The 4070 TI Super is a low end 4080 card. Is it worth spending $200 more for the 4080 Super? Or save your money....the performance is not worth the extra $200? What are NO reviewers mentioning this? I thought for sure you would bring this up for creators. This is something you normally bring to our attention in your videos.....

This. 4070 ti Super is the only one with a decent upgrade for the actual price. The 4080 Supers are being listed at $1500-1600$ in the U.S. right now and mostly sold out.@@theTechNotice

I have both, the RX 7900XTX and the RTX 4080 súper, both from MSI. My personal experience, I prefer the Nvidia GPU, because it works in everything and is stable. The AMD option has a lot is power for raster, but it is “clumsy” and unstable. Last month I found an excellent price for the RX 4080 super, good price: US$ 1,300 Nvidia vs 1,500 AMD (taxes in latin America, where I live), and I have no doubt to get it.

I decided to go 4070 ti super over 7900xt. I'm just not willing to pay $1000 for a GPU.
Some people switch to AMD for better stability and compatibility. There are issues on both sides for sure.
For me the 16 gigs just dont cut it. Upscalers dont matter for those cards rn cause why would u buy a 4k premium card just do downgrade it to 1440p? Dont be silly...And having the 7900xtx OCed+undervolted it runs at 50C° full load at under 300W draw without any significant performance loss. Unless u work with blender, the 7900xtx is the far superior and better value card long-term, imo.
I can't find one for less than $1,400 so I don't know where all these websites are getting away with lying about how you can get this card for $1,000
The performance boost of a 4080/4080S is more in line with a ti Card and beyond. In theory a 4080 should be about the same speed as a 3090 but it totally blows the 3090 and 3090 ti for that matter away. It's a decent value for $999. I got one on order from Nvidia, can't wait to try it.
I find it funny that these prizes are the new normal but at the end they are still Ridiculously overpriced... '200 Dollar discount', should be 600 dollars Atleast

Good luck finding an rtx 4080 super for the 999.99. I can't the cheapest I found was 1200.00
anyone who bought the 4080 should feel bad about getting totally rheamed, this super variant is really only a $799 card and yet sells for a +$200 premium. Missed an opportunity to add more VRAM, (16GB at 1K price point?!), add DP 2.0, and to fix the absurdly oversized HSF on these cards but chose to cheap out and keep using the 4090s on the 4080, its overkill, fitting these things in cases is a real challenge. The super tis nothing but a reprice on the same card.

So 1000 dolars means 925 euro right , so here in EU you cant find any 4080 not even a 1000 euro the cheapest is over 1100 euro so the zotac is 1,284 euro so whre the money goes !!! i dont even say that the 4080 super should be cheaper than 4080 but at lunch was but now its alredy up by 50-100 euro and you cant find just couple in stock maybe i should go AMD :))

Omfg yeah... I have a 7900 XTX, and I am gettting rid of it now... bought a 4080 Super. The driver timeouts just, they drive me nuts. AMD is outright lying to its consumers and telling people there's no issue, the drivers have not even improved. I can run Cryberpunk MAXED out completely. But darktide will randomly timeout on me?
Selliong the 7900 XTX, I've had 2 RMAs and my RX 7600 has zero issues with timeouts in Darktide or Phantom Brigade or other appplications... meaning it IS the 7900 XTX.

REAL prices start from 1200-1300
They're selling the 4080 super for like $1500-$1600 and are mostly sold out in the U.S.A....There are RTX 4090 cards for $1800. At this price it's either 7900XTX for $1,000 or splurge for a 4090 if you have the money. The 4080 super is a giant nothing burger F**K You from NVIDIA and the market reflects this approach too. The benchmarks show either zero performance gains to "up to 2-3 fps" difference at 4k. The RTX 4080 Super is the biggest flop from Nvidia I have ever seen. They could have at least made it 20GB GDDR6X with a 320 bit bus(MINIMUM) and it would have at least had "some value."

It's not cheaper in Europe. Most of the Super variants replaced the non supers at the same price as the OG non super.
I have seen a few exceptions with €110 price drops but it's on models that do not sell well. Such as Palit base models and Gigabyte Windforce.
Nvidia cards always sell at a premium mark up. 2000$+ for a msrp 1500$ 4090 sound familiar? I'll stick with my 7900xtx all day long. After using Nvidia for so long and dealing with their scummy business practices, shortages, and bulk selling to scalpers i'll never support them again.

well, the other card from AMD in the same price is performing less. so, whats define "best"? is it so long its not nvidia? because thats the sentiment being deliberately built by some known tech youtubers who are hell bent to smear certain company at any given opportunity while their home gaming PC runs on RTX cards, and even their kids playing their games over RTX cards. as for comparison to 4090, forget that card. its not for gamers.

The channel is specifically about productivity. There's likely hundreds of channels that discuss these GPUs in gaming specifically

if all i cared about was gaming i'd go get a AMD card, why pay more? but for 3D and games industry folk like me its Nvidia all the way. until AMD and software developer really start supporting AMD cards this is not going to change soon at all.
