I'm 20 miles NE of Kingman and am growing so much food with the help of 2 high tunnel greenhouses.
Where are the White Mountains?
As a person that lives in the desert (Las Vegas) I would also look into Steel Construction homes or Barndominiums as well. You get a lot of house for very little money. Treated wood will be ok for a little while but that desert heat will win in the end the end. You will definitely need to have insulation for those 110+ degree days and the cold winters out there. On top of that, once you start putting drywall, furniture and furnishings, that space will get very small pretty quick. Also, having a roof that will fit a good number of solar panels will be very beneficial. (Although it wouldn't take much to power that shed)
If you do go this route I would also have them dig a concrete basement with at least 9' ceilings. That way you have a place to escape to in the event of natural disaster, wild fires, or home invasion. That far off grid you are on your own, so safety should be your top priority.
Last, take aerial shots of the property to make sure where you plan to build isn't in a wash/flood zone. If it is, the engineers will have to design a way for the water to run around the property so your house doesn't flood or float away! Last year Tsunamis season destroyed Death Valley roads. So your road in and out will have damage. Get a good offroad vehicle! (Lifted Jeep, Truck, SUV) This is something no one ever thinks about happening in the desert.

IN West Texas we have some cheap land as well. I bought 100 acres with Electric already on it for 79k Already had a full bathroom and 2 livable buildings. Its out there just got to look for it.

This what i prayed a lot for. To have some land and build tiny house. I'm American indigenous and on the reservation where I'm from the tribe lease out 2 acres of land. Like u said i want to make sheds into tiny homes. I have siblings that are houseless. And i want to do this for them a place where they can call home have their meals. With not worrying about get put out Since my mother passed away back in 2006. This how they been doing couch surfing not a good and healthy way to live. I own a 2.5 acre homestead in the beautiful countryside of South Carolina...I was homeless two years ago...now I'm here with chickens, a greenhouse, a pup, a tiny house and a 20 ft container home. So inspiring to find a another black woman interested in off grid living. I’m trying to learn as much as I can about this lifestyle. How is plumbing for off grid? Is rainwater collected or is there a well that one would get water from? Power would come from solar panels and a generator?

I just purchased my second piece of land in Arizona it’s an amazing state. Some counties have a no permit building policy as long as you own a minimum amount of acres ❤ congratulations ❤❤❤❤

I definitely recommend building yourselves a rain catchment at the new property. Perfect for gardening can hook a hand pump or generated pump to it or just use the gravity fed method for gardening. Also once your home is placed treat the whole perimiter of you foundation for termites. Here in Az we have subterranean termites not the one that fly in and build a nest. You can upkeep the treatment yourself every 5-10yrs very easily to insure your home stays sound and doesnt get any termite damage. Consider a grey water system for watering fruit trees in the future as well. Wells can be very expensive to have dug especially the farther north you go. We are in central Az at approx 1200 elevation and our well is 500 ft deep. Best of luck and lots of adventures on your journey.

@jtt7386 It's 100% legal to build a rain catchment her in Az. In fact, it's encouraged.
I'd say everyone go back to their parents live together save. Help them and yourself to save enough money to get some land and a cabin, you'll save so much more money. Then those rentals will think twice about raising prices Geez, Renting is just as much as a house these days or more.
That's a neat little shed! Still needs drywall, taping, and painting, Framing a bathroom's and kitchen! Be kind to everyone, and help your community's out too! Start Circle gardens! Fruit trees on the outside of the circle then the inner circles are other fruits and veggies, plant a bunch of those!

Also, don’t forget about manufactured homes, you still can find some cheap options for the same price as the higher sheds, depending on the amount of bedrooms you want.

@@theoracle6881 Personally for me the the manufacturer homes. You can get very nice looking ones on the outside. The con is the cheaper priced manufactured homes are sometimes not attractive on the outside. However, it’s built to HUD code and the inside will be completely done. You can always add a deck, porch, or do other stuff on the outside if you don’t like the look.

I used to live in AZ for 10 years and you're right there are so much land for sale. You're giving me a lot of ideas. I'm a Trucker and I see so much land for sale all over the country. I just never knew what to do with the land.

I follow Barron and Elsa who lived in a camper for years and just finished their own home in Colorado. You should check them out. They built a modest home with help from friends who live in the desert not far from them. It's an attainable goal if people really want to pursue it.

We currently live off grid and love it definitely doable. Just make sure you do with mini split AC system and gas dryer . We live just like we have PG&E
