My sentiments exactly. Not to make it a color thing, but it’s so important for our people to get back to this. We cannot survive off commercialized food sources. That’s fact! Thank you guys!

Found your channel a week or so ago. I also have 7 kids. 5 still at home. I love that you're teaching them to grow food and have them involved. I also love your comment of, "if it doesn't work try again. And if that doesn't work, try again." That comment made me smile! Good job. LOVE your garden tour. Now I am off to go find how to build that strawberry wall. (Can't remember what you called it.)

    You are a beautiful family
And you and your wife seemed quite humble and
    Smart. My parents raised
Eight children as they stated out in GUATEMALA
    ON the coast of Livingston.
Our backyard had bread fruit tree, lemon, avocado, cacao
    Coconut, we used bitter
Melon as medicinal. We had oranges, grapefruit tree. Mandarins. I will
    Always cherish that life.
I am retired and live in
    The country side of NY
Starting my summer veggies. I have subscribed
    To your channel continue
To live a natural life. Send
    You my blessings.

I loved the entire tour! Didn't skip a minute. I love the pride you show in your family & your property. It all works together. Some comments: try growing chili tepins, they're perennials. They make a great hedge & come back year after year. They're tiny peppers that are some of the hottest peppers around & are probably the ancestral peppers from which all other peppers descended. Another thing to consider is wild (mustang) grapes. They can't be killed with a blow torch, they're that tough. They're NOT good for table grapes (too acidic) but are excellent for jams, jellies & wines. But they're invasive & destructive, so you'd want to isolate them... think Alcatraz island... confined to an area where they can't spread. Given the chance, they strangle trees & take down fences. If you could build a steel pipe or aluminum conduit cage/fence/trellis you would have grapes for preserving every year because nothing bothers them. Texas Mustang grape rootstock saved the French wine industry in the 19th century because they are so disease resistant. Also: loofah is edible if you pick them at about the size of an okra pod. They're very similar to a zucchini at that size. And sweet potato leaves are edible too.
I wish you & yours all the best for 2020! And may your family & garden thrive!

Ideal! I grew up gardening! There is no better way to raise children. We were never bored as children because there was always so much to do! Then we had acres of grass to cut on foot. Granny used to say to visitors " why would I need a automatic dishwasher drive lawn mower apple pickers egg gatherer etc. when I got all my grands standing here looking at me"! Omg I could hate on her sometimes! 😂 I miss her still!😇 She gifted us with a love for plants seeds and for growing things! Ty for sharing your green thumbs and beautiful family!🍃🌼🌿

Thank you Sooooo very very much for sharing your garden. I am 71 years old, you are doing what I wanted to do when I was your wife's age and my husband was your age. We had three sons and a little princess. I thought it would be the greatest thing to move out of New York and get a home in the country. But he was a city man. Now that I am old I got an acre of land but don't have the money to clear it off living on a fixed income. Two of my son's passed away. My now husband is older than me and not as strong. God bless you all always. You are a wise young MAN!!! I just love you all!❣❣❣❣

Wood makes me think of growing mushrooms. You can buy wood plugs that are already loaded with Mushroom spores. Just drill a hole, then pound in the plug into your new hole and wait. It grows faster if you bury the wood underground a few inches to help the mycelium grow. Then next year when you have forgotten all about them you will find mushrooms growing!

Just now stumbled upon your TH-cam site, I'm the youngest of a family with 8 kids, as well as a single parent of three. Seeing your fantastical garden is so inspiring. Not only loving that you're teaching your youngins to garden and eat off the land, but the fact that you look for a more economical way to stretch your money by buying things at the end of the season when prices are reduced, or that you don't need to buy the higher priced items to get your projects done. Watching several of your videos just now has actually given me some awesome ideas of how and what I need to make raised garden beds a bit cheaper and easier. My biggest problem are the squirrels and rats we have here in Thousand Oaks, California. The netting you talked about is a great product. Will certainly look into finding that. Look forward to watching many of your other videos. Stay well and happy gardening!!

This lady has so beautiful hair!
Beans in the future glasshouse. A farmer here grows runner beans under glass as they don't break down under heavy rain. He sells them to little vegetable shops in town.

We also own a 3 acre retirement property and I can’t wait to build our house pretty soon and have my garden and fruit orchard.

Wow! Love your backyard-farm-garden; first time here and I made it to the end. The banana plant needs a donut-circle of mulch and food away from the stalk in order to strengthen the roots because the roots should not grow downward but outward for strength. Banana roots travel towards the food where ever you place it. If a large banana shoots on the tree, the weight of the fruit will till the plant to the ground if the root structure is weak. Love all the fresh food, YUM!

If your aphids on the apple trees are being managed by the ants then a few inches above the ground wrap the tree trunk circumference in 2 or 3 inches of vaseline spread vertically up the trunk. The ant's can't get past it so then they can't herd and protect the aphids anymore and you can spray them off or leave them to natural aphid predators. Best time to do it is before the ants come back out after the night time. Beautiful garden !! Beautiful family!

May try that will the grease melt off?

@@GrowFamilyNetwork Not sure but you probably will have to reapply it now and then. Your in a warmer climate so I don't know how it will work out there. But maybe some real sticky tape might work instead? Anything to keep the ants from their aphids will work.

your family is beautiful. You do have a lot of kids, lol! but with 3 acres of land and yall are growing in every kind of way, in ground, raised bed, container etc, I dont think you can call your space a garden. Its a little too big for that. I do not know if you can call it a homestead because there are not any animals. But this is definetly more than a garden.

This was great video. I've started with containers. It's exciting, yet I've been nervous. You said if it doesn't work, try again. And if it doesn't work, try again. Those are very wise and comforting words. God bless you and your family.
