You may not realize it now but You are Living the Dream!!!
Totally what I was thinking!
Very impressive! Lived in Laughlin/BHC area for 12 years and found have 2 pro tips to help you with heat cold transfer with the windows. 1. Install exterior sun screens on the windows. or 2. Install reflective window film on the interior windows.( cheaper option). Keep up the good work.
Your doing AMAZING, I am so impressed at everything you have done just by your self. Congratulations
Thank you so much!
Have you considered making the land a food forest? It cuts down on the heat and dust storms plus it's your personal rainforest and provides food without a whole lot of work once it's all set up.
You are a trooper. Not many people would attempt to buy a fixer upper car, but you did that and a fixer upper house. You go girl. With TH-cam and other internet resources you can accomplish so much. You just need to be brave enoughto jump in. A happy dance is definitely in order.😊
Absolutely! Thank you. ☺️
You making me feel intimidated with everything you've accomplished, great job and keep inspiring the rest of us.
Haha. Thanks!
Wow you've come a long way in 1 year. You are very organized and detail oriented. I absolutely love the ending of this video. You made my husband and I lol.
Girl power! Well done on your accomplishment….greetings from down under Australia…stay safe!

What a wonderful task making this homestead you home! It is an incredible amount of work and it can be discouraging but you absolutely have to celebrate ANY little wins!! Celebrate, throw little parties even if they are only in your head but the beauty is that for every task you do, you are one step closer to your ultimate dream!!!!
Thank you!
@@MyWayofEverything expectation is hard on reality. But it is all part of the journey and you are kicking it!!!!
I have only just chimed in but from what you have shown me in this montage of success...you have done amazingly. I am 12 years onto my home and 2 kids in and I feel like you describe...no small victories, no end to projects. Your right to celebrate everything completed, no matter how small. Best wishes for 2024...progress is progress no matter how little.

You can reuse shelves you remove and beams for firewood in winter
A girl that is good with her hands❤
You have done a great job. Looking good!
Thank you! 🥰
AMAZING effort !!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS FOR YOU!!
I live in Arizona where it is crazy dry. looks like you live here too if not somewhere similar.
1.) I encourage you to looking into continuing native bio diversity and developing a good healthy substrate. Wood chips and home made mulch will help a ton with trapping some humidity as well as cooler temps in the summer compared to dirt and rocks.
2.) since that was an old pot farm that fence may have served two purposes. 1 hiding that it was a pot farm haha, and 2 aiding with the deflection of wind. Wind can be a killer on your yard and home out here in the desert. So with bio diversity I would recommend more native trees and bushes to help with a wind break while also not ruining your view.
Keep your chin up you are doing so well and you have come so far! cant wait to see what you do next!
You should check out my previous video where I grabbed a bunch of plants from our native plant society. Already working on it lol!
oh heck yeah! ill scope it out. Thanks for letting me know :) @@MyWayofEverything
Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video and that dance at the end was entertaining. 8)
Kudos to you 👏👏👏! You’ve accomplished a lot. Do you know you can run circles around most men 😂! Where do you get the energy to do all of this? Wishing you all the best ! Yes celebrate everything because you are amazing!
Most Homesteads are off the grid, and show how the homestead pays for it self. And home improvements
I know it's hard work but you are doing a great job !!!!!
Thank you!
Gosh, just found your channel....u are so ambitious.
Oh thank you!

Amazing!!!!
Thanks!!
🎉🎉🎉🎉you did an amazing 👏 job.😊
Thank you!!
Thank you I enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad I stumbled upon your channel. I want to find a piece of land and homestead like this. I love all of this homestead and off grid stuff LOL... I'm in northern new england and would rather go somewhere warmer to homestead ( I'm just tired of the long cold winters here LOL ). Curious, if you don't mind. How and where did you find your property and rough approximation is your property? Thanks
Just found your channel. Subscribed
FYI. When you burned all of the fence you also burned the chemicals that keeps the wood from rotting. Thanks !!!!! by the way your compost will absorb chemicals as well because you made your compost box out of chemically treated wood
None of the wood I’ve burned has been treated. Only treated wood out here was the 4x4s
I would build a see through fence of some sort.
You need to trim them trees around your house. Great job.
There's no reason to remodel your bathroom unless there's a need to. It looks fine and I love a window in the shower, having one isn't common. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Have you gotten heat yet besides the wood stove? We lived in our cabin for 5 years with only a wood stove for heat until we finally installed baseboard heaters. I think our cabin might be a little smaller than yours, it’s like 520 sq ft, but it cost around $2000 to have someone come install three baseboard heaters and we probably would have done it sooner if we had realized the cost was lower compared to installing other types of heat that we looked into
Ok just double checked w my hub and we were here for four years before we installed the heaters not five. We have had them for a year and they are probably my favorite improvement so far that we have done to this place. Our stove leaked smoke really bad though so it might not be as big of a deal if your stove doesn’t leak smoke
So far I'm holding out for a minisplit which would solve both heating and cooling problems. But the wood stove works pretty well for now. Thanks for the thought though :)
@@MyWayofEverything Oh ok that makes sense if you are able to keep using your wood stove and wait. We looked into a mini split and it was around $8k cash to have one installed but if we wanted to finance it, it would have been $14k with all the added interest so we decided not to go that route!
Yup. That’s about the same prices I was quoted. 😖
Like a boss
😎
Nice video, do you have a video on how you found your property.
Between my first video and second in their series and my most recent Q&A I think you’d get a pretty good idea.
I think you'll likely regret taking down that privacy fence instead of fixing it up.
Fence was beyond fixing and in the wrong place. Don’t worry. I’m saving the materials to make a new fence where I want it later.
Cool
Old fence, new shed?
HAPPY DANCE!
💃🏼
Doggy watching u dance 😂 crazy lady 😂
First of your videos I’ve seen… impressed by your honesty, style and application👍👌👏 keep on it… cheers from AUS 🦘
Thank you!
muito legal,lugar lindo!
thats a lot of french vanilla syrup!
👍
رائع وجميل 👍😊
Thank you
Is this in Arizona?
get cats and bring the pot plants back fam $$$
gosh, Ms, your heroic, but...didn't you talk to anyone about how hard all that work in such an inhospitable environment was going to be?? would have made a BIG difference, on many levels! may I ask...what were you trying to achieve, or prove to yourself? Seems you had the $$$ to do anything you like (those tools & materials, and everything) weren't free, right Buddy, you sure did it the HARD way, which doesn't really prove anything to any viewer, except...what NOT to do. Hopefully! Sigh....buona fortuna, Ms. Your young, so next time....please do all that in a supportive Community. I'm an old (73) ECOhome Designer/Builder who's helped lots of back-to-the-landers do as you. Just....easier :-) YOU deserve it that way, too!! And...you've been very very Lucky to have not hurt yourself. sigh....sempre avanti....
So what did you end up doing with fence?
Check out my year 2 update video!
That's a ton of money going out...how does it come in?
Wheres the cemetery?,.
Are you going to practice permaculture landscaping.?
Get a cargo container for storage
definitely thought about it
@@MyWayofEverything get two put them apart then enclosed the roof make carport storage and shade
Snow in the desert, looks like Utah, but then you show So. Calif. Bishop area ? Interesting...............I would like to do the same thing. Nice production.
I talk about location in my latest Q&A video if you’re curious.
I’ll still never understand why people grow weed out there 😂 can’t imagine the waterbill for a small acre of land.
I’m curious why your fencing is only partially wood planks and partially open?
You should be so proud of yourself! When embarking on a project such as this with as much 'de-construction' as you've had to do, it might be hard to see the improvements but you have got to have a good foundation for the future years to come. While it might be difficult to always see the upsides, you should definitely celebrate the wins, celebrate harder the more challenging it was to accomplish it! You deserve it. You are a badass. Cannot wait to see what else you do going forward.
This is SO true. Been doing a lot of tearing down and throwing out. The mesquite tree I planted just came back to life and felt so good since it’s one of the only things I’ve added so far and it’s ALIVE! 🥰
@@MyWayofEverythingYour awesome .
Amazing work ❤
Thanks 😄
Home ownership is a never ending job. You are doing great. 🥳
This is the first video I've seen of yours and I am incredibly proud and impressed by what you've done there. Thanks to your dad for all his help. This will be so worth it in the end. You will look back and be so happy.
Yup. Idk how he dug for a whole day straight like that but it was definitely appreciated.
You've accomplished more in one year than I have in twenty years and I mean that sincerely. Please celebrate your victories. You are a bad ass and it's been a joy to follow you. Can't wait to see all of your projects as they come to fruition in the future. xo
Thank you 🥹
Congratulations on a very successful year! I am so impressed with what you've accomplished. I bought a 5 acre property in Central Georgia 2 years ago and although I don't take a lot of pictures or videos, I have documented through notes, goals and To Do Lists what I've gotten done. It is amazing what we can accomplish when we set out to love the home around us. I'll be watching for your progress over the next year and I'll be celebrating for both of us. Love the happy dances!!
You did a lot in 1 year especially all by yourself. This is the first video I've seen of yours, but I've been watching people turn the desert into a homestead and it isn't easy, so well done! You might want to get a cat because ground squirrels can destroy your house and your food supply. We had a hug infestation of rodents until I moved in and let my cats outside. Now I can only hear them under the house once in a great while compared to every day multiple times a day. My cats ate almost all the rodents in this entire area.
Really impressive all the work you got done on your own in one year!
❤❤ I love this. Congratulations on soo many wins. Its truly impressive to see what you have accomplished!
Thank you
I think you may not realize you may want the fence, it’s going to cut down all the dessert ending up in the house or beside the house. What may be a good idea would be going to one of those salvage yards that have a lot of great home improvement stuff at a discount price.
"Passage of the small tract act has opened vast areas of land, not for profit or exploitation, but for folks who like to build with their own hands, and who are thrilled by the challenge of creating a home of their own... These homesteads are for people who delight in watching the moon rise over purpled hills, for those who would call the stars by name, and who love the peace that is found only in remote places." -Desert Magazine 1954.
Doing the same thing in NM, I can never find relatable content. Everyone runs to the forest, there's not very many of us desert dwellers. I love the desert, and I love your settlement.
Very true! Not as many desert rats out here! They don’t know what they’re missing out on.
Your video popped out in my feed just now, and I am pretty fascinated about someone wanting to live in the hot desert 😉. Compliments on the hard work you‘ve accomplished. Regarding your septic system: did you look into having the system where you have your own cleaning pond and use the water afterwards to irrigate your plants.
Greetings from green and cool Switzerland!
I know what is like to work in a different environment. I also live in the desert with Joshua trees in a 10 acre ranch. I love Southern California. I build my own fence and chicken coop. Is not easy living in the desert but i learned a lot about nature and how to build stuff around my property and just be creative. Don't give up at the end it will be all worth it.
I shared your channel with both of my daughters in the UK. You really are a role model. Take it from an older lady that you really are winning even when it doesnt seem that way. Its either a lesson or a blessing and as long as your moving forward, you have already achieved your goal.
I’ve spent my life building and making things my advice to people is don’t concentrate on what’s ahead concentrate on what you’ve done and accomplished. It works!
Well done. Remote places resonate with some of us.
absolutely. Thank you!
The end had me laughing out loud.
