Growing up with Mario Party 6 I is why I enjoy Gamecube Mario Party so much. Even though I got Mario Party 4, 5, and 7 in just a few years ago, I enjoyed them as well, almost as much as 6. But what exactly made them so GOOD? Well, lets talk about it (Like what I did there). Enjoy.

Hey! So I just found this channel through this video and oh my gosh this was fantastic! Great job on this seriously. Your writing is phenomenal and you’re just really easy to listen to!
Grew up on 5 and 8 so they’ll always be my favourites but it was so cool to actually see what 6 and 7 brought to the table! Never knew they had a microphone you used to play until watching this.
This is SO unlikely given it’s Nintendo and they don’t like older characters but man I’d love to see Koopa Kid in Mario Kart or something. They’re like THE scrunkly, y’know?
Subbed. Again, fantastic video. Can’t wait to see what you have in store next!

    Nice video dude!
I first got into classic Mario Party with Mario Party 8 on Wii, and Mario Party DS like everyone else that was born around 2003-ish. I loved the games as a little kid, and when I played Mario Party 9, I knew even then that it wasn't the same.
Years passed, I finally got internet around 2015, and learned much more about the first 7 games. Since I already had a Wii, I immediately realized I could play Gamecube games as long as I had a Gamecube controller and a memory card. Lo and behold, I found both of them at a retro game store one day. I then found Mario Party 5 and Mario Party 6 on two fateful days a little while later at two separate retro game stores in my area.
I loved both games to bits. Especially MP6 with the day/night cycle. Unfortunately, I never got to experience Mario Party 4 or Mario Party 7 as I was never lucky enough to find those two games.Even more years passed, and I eventually grew tired of waiting to play these classics. So just this past Christmas, I E-mailed my aunt out of desperation specifically asking her to buy MP4 and MP7 off ebay, and she said yes! Now, 7 years after I first experienced MP5 and MP6, I can safely say that i've experienced/own the rest of the Gamecube games. My favorite will always be MP6 though. I'm 19 years old now BTW.
To close this off, i'm still waiting for Mario Party 3 to come to the Switch Online Expansion Pack, as I bought it just for the Mario Party games alone. MP3 is now the only classic Mario Party I haven't played.
My ranking of the Gamecube games overall: (Opinions clouded by nostalgia)
    #1: MP6
    #2: MP5
    #3: MP4
#4: MP7 (Because chance time was removed and Windmillville sucks)
P.S. Now if only I had friends to play these with... Hell, I wish you were one of them 😖

I played 6 for most my life. Haven't played the other 3 nearly as much but I'm getting there! And I get wanting to play these with other people that appreciate it. I can't play Mario Party at all with my friends because I win without even trying. Like, unless I completely don't care I still win, I'm too good at these games.

Mario party 2 was my first game. I played it on a n64 emulator on my pc and it is still one of my favourites to date. Thats why I really liked playing mario party superstars with my friend, they never tried mario party 2 and they could now play a more polished version of the past. Although I wish they added more maps to the superstars one, only having 5 kinda sucks so we branched off to mario party 6 now. Pummel party is a good fun time on the pc though if you wanna experience something new

9:16 Catch You Letter, Circuit Maximus, Lift Leapers, Note to Self, Snow Brawl are all great.
Granite Getaway, Odd Card Out, Same is Lame, Snow Whirled, Dust 'til Dawn are all minigames I'm more iffy on.

I feel MP5 is the most slept on when it comes to the GameCube. Honestly it would have been the best MP game for me if they didn't take out the item shop, they should have just kept the item shop while also still having the capsules. Aside from the items shop it has everything else that I want from a MP game. A pretty nice roster, solid boards, The best selection of minigames in the series (Imo), and a plethora of overall content as well.

  • @vyseskies
    @vyseskies ปีที่แล้ว +4

I prefer 5 over 6 for two reasons:
5's stages are better imo, i really dislike mp6 chain chomp map and fair square. The tree one is also boring.
The other reason is that capsules on MP6 are limited to stage, some capsules never appear on some stages, and you can throw only up to 5 spaces. On the other hand MP5 has every capsule on evey stage, and it can be thrown up to 10 spaces. That makes for the randomess

You do realize mario party superstars was suppose to be a best of compliation a focus on the n64 games that was the entire point of the game a celebration of past mario party. Seems like people keep forgetting that and critique the game for it. Also you act like nintendo has done nothing good during the switch there are good and even great games on it. The mario + rabbids games, mario odyssey, zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom, luigis manson 3, mario maker 2, kirby and the forgotton land, metriod dread, smash ulimate, fire emblem 3 houses, warioware get it together, etc. If you dont like modern nintendo then thats fine and yes there are bad games on the switch but dont ingore the fact that there are also good games anyway great video.

Superstars was supposed to be a best of compilation for the N64 games and a celebration of Mario Party as a whole it succeeds in the minigames I would give you that
but Nintendo couldn't even get their greedy asses to add another board from Mario Party 3 so we are left with this weird 2 MP1 boards 2 MP2 boards and 1 MP3 board because Nintendo wanted to be a greedy ass and not want to give the game a little bit more time to add a 6th board
and yes 6 boards in my opinion SHOULD be the standard in ALL MP games having less then that just greatly lowers your replayablity

I grew up with the Nintendo 64 Mario Parties. The first one ain't all that great, 2 and 3 are far better, and I'm one that prefers 3 over 2.
But as I've gotten older (I'm an old fart at 30, lol) I've grown to prefer the GameCube Mario Parties. I especially love 5, 6, and 7, with either 5, or 7 being my favorite of the four. It's hard to pick which one I like more since I love so much about what both games do.
I do find 4 to be the weakest and least memorable, at least when it comes to the boards. The mini-games though are really good, presentation wise, it could be better. I also love how 5, 6, and 7 handled the single player campaigns, and felt they were handled so much better in these entries compared to the Nintendo 64 games. I loved how 5 referenced Paper Mario with the Star Spirits. It also has some of my favorite mini-games in the series, Coney Island, Ground Pound Down, Pushy Penguins, Leaf Leap, Rumble Fumble, Hotel Goomba, Heat Stroke, Defuse or Lose, etc. I have a soft spot for Card Party. And I love the story mode in 5 and the boss fight against Bowser was really fun. 6 handles the solo player content the best, though I wish it did end with a Bowser fight, and the Day and Night cycle is quite innovative. Not a fan of how the story of the game is tied to getting pages for a book. It also has a pretty solid selection of mini-games aside from Strawberry Shortfuse.
I prefer the Capsules/Orbs over the items. I love the more random/chaotic nature of the orbs, how landing on a space could be either very good, or bad for the player. I also think Bowser in these games is far more cruel and I do enjoy the events as long as I'm not on the receiving end of his wrath. lol
You really need to go back to 7 because I feel like people don't give it that much of a chance. I love the boards, with Neon Heights and Pagoda Peak being my favorites, and while I am saddened this was Koopa Kid's final appearance, the Koopa Kid spaces are a welcome new addition to the game. It also has Toadsworth for a host and Dry Bones as a playable character, so I can't really complain. The Mini-Game Cruise mode is pretty fun, with Pearl Hunt being a favorite of mine.
I do see 7 as being the last great Mario Party game. I wasn't a fan of 8's heavy motion control focus, the less said about every game made by NdCube except for Superstars, the better.

I prefer the N64 Mario Parties, especially 2 and 3. But Mario Party 6 is so freaking good! When I decided to introduce myself to the GameCube Mario Parties, by playing these on an emulator, Mario Party 6 was the first game I chose to play. And it was the right first pick! Snowflake Lake is still one of my favorite boards of all time in Mario Party history! When I decided to play the other Mario Parties, I liked Mario Party 5 okay. And Mario Party 4 and 7 were underwhelming to me. If I ever get a chance to invest a lot of money, Mario Party 5 and 6 are definitely the ones I want to buy first, because I want to collect all of the Mario Party games on actual hardware. And so far I only own Mario Party 1 and 2 on N64, and Mario Party DS. Mario Party 3 is the next one I'm gonna get.

I think all of the GameCube mario party except 5 are really good especially 6, even though mario party 4 most of the boards have infinites. @@BronzeBrawnIsCool it’s not that, it’s because the item system in Mario party 5 is not well done, it had potencial but it wasn’t well made, the proof is that Mario party 6 took that item system and made it very well done, and also you can get attacked by your own traps and you will gain nothing from the traps you put it if someone lands on it, for example you will not win coins if someone is in your space trap, they will just lose it and you will not gain it.

While Mario Party Superstars is my favorite game in the series (I just think that game is the most well-rounded Mario Party experience), Mario Party 6 absolutely deserves the amount of praise it gets nowadays. The day-night cycle and the item system just bring a chaotic yet fun and hilarious experience like no other.
I'm not a fan of the other GameCube Mario Party games though. Mario Party 4's mini pipes and board events only being accessible with a Mini Mushroom is stupid, Mario Party 5's item system is just horrendous, and Mario Party 7 having character-specific items is stupid (Mario Party should not have a tier list).
Speaking of tier lists, here's my ranking from best to worst:
    - Mario Party 6
    - Mario Party 7
    - Mario Party 4
    - Mario Party 5
Also, as a Donkey Kong enjoyer, as well as a Koopa Kid hater, I respectfully disagree with you on Mario Party 5 and 6 having a better character roster than Mario Party 4.

4 is good. At the time of release 5 wasn't worth the money to upgrade and neither was 6 or 7. But now that time has passed all are available for free if you don't wanna pay, the best way is to pick the one that has all the features you want. 4 is best for playing with friends because the gameplay is simple and requires no explaining to move around the board correctly and the minigames are the focus.
All of the other ones focus too much on single player.

@@BronzeBrawnIsCool understand this, I grew up playing 7, 8 and DS and not 4, 5 and 6. Everyone told me that 6 was the best so I had to obtain the game to try it.
Starting from 7 first, 6 feels like a downgrade to me in certain aspects. My main issue is the minigames. Mario Party 7 has very few terrible minigames in my opinion especially if we don’t count the mic minigames/8 player. Mario Party 7 has like 2-4 minigames that I would say are quite subpar: which would include: cointagious, and then debatably these: Wingin’ it, air farce (a little too hard for newbies), flashfright/royal rumpus since they are broken (although I actually like to play these). That’s only like 5 in the game, and I got used to that standard.
Then I play 6 and it has an abundance of minigames that I think are really poorly made. Ray of Fright, Gondola Glide, Banana Shake and Pitifall are all without question some of the worst minigames I’ve ever seen.
And then Crate and Peril, Mass Meteor, Body Builder, Cash Flow, Wrasslin’ Rapids (can go waayy too long), Treasure Trawlers, Pop Star and Cashapult are all pretty sucky as well imo. I got used to a standard of minimal sucky minigames and I didn’t adjust well to the change.
And as for the boards, I think it’s a huge myth that the boards in 6 are better than the boards in 7, but I’ll get to that after you respond to my minigame thoughts first.

@@BronzeBrawnIsCool I try ahaha! I just have to recognize that I'm on the outside and you all feel differently. I just feel like I'm missing something or that I'm the one who's wrong, but I genuinely think that 5 and 6 have a lot of duds in the minigame lineup. Maybe I'm just not biased towards 6 since I didn't start with it?
And side note, I do agree about the mic spaces in 7 being implemented poorly as you discuss in your other video. That's totally a valid point.
I think that 7 has better boards than 6 as well. Faire Square is a really well done board, I don't always love playing a game where I could get 1 star or 10 depending on how much they cost, but that's part of the fun of Mario Party too. After that I think that 7s boards certainly take the cake.
Towering Treetop and E Gadd's Garage are both fine, nothing amazing. I don't really like Clockwork Castle that much, it's just too random and not structured enough to me. WhenI get hit by Bowser 3 turns in a row I really question why I'm doing that board.
Snowflake Lake and Castaway Bay are both almost really good, but not quite. Snowflake Lake is great at night, but in the day there just isn't enough going on. I feel like going around to chain chomps while only rolling 1 dice doesn't give players enough power to make it as fun. Castaway Bay is solid, but i think it would be better if there were 2 DK boat's and 1 Bowser boat at the end instead of 1 of each. With 1 of each, players are on average losing more than gaining more by getting to the end. Since DK won't give you coins I don't think for getting there, but Bowser will take coins away.
For 7 Windmillville is okay, it's not the best since it's too hard to get around but it's still not bad (also inspired Koopa's Tycoon Town), and I also think that Pyramid Park is solid. I would say that Pyramid Park is probably better than Snowflake Lake, since you can't do much in the day on Snowflake Lake. Although Bowser Time taking your coins right before the big chain chomp at the top is a major buzzkill.
Beyond that I think the boards in 7 are just better. I would say that Pyramid Park is better than Snowflake Lake and that it might be better than Castaway Bay too...although the more I think about it I kind of do think Castaway Bay is pretty fun/perhaps better than Grand Canal and Pyramid Park, but I lean that Grand Canal and Pyramid Park are better right now.
At this point, I would say that Grand Canal, Pagoda Peak, Neon Heights and Bowser's Enchanted Inferno are all better than any board in 6 apart from Faire Square. But I could be convince otherwise I suppose. Bowser's Enchanted Inferno is actually a really well done board, and I just love Pagoda Peak.
Care to discuss these topics with me?

I had played 6 and 7 nearly seven years ago whilst listening to Markiplier’s Random Horror Reaction videos and of the two games, I think that 7 was the worse one I played simply because of the addition of Bowser Time and the single player minigames halting the progress whenever it feels like it. 6 was the one that I felt Hudson Soft worked their balls off to make fantastic and it certainly shows.
