Honestly, I think the game would be better if the character specific orbs were rare items, kinda like in Mario Party 3, and would rarely appear in the shop for anyone to use.
7 isn’t the best Mario Party. There are a few games that have less flaws and do what it does better. However, with me being reasonable out of the way, 7 is by far my favorite entry in the series! From the world theming of the boards to the great minigames to the orb system to the amount of stuff to do, it never fails to entertain me even w/ the problems it has
ok i did NOT expect the "people grow up" speech at the end 😭😭 going from hosting the nintendo parties to playing by yourself online is one of the hardest things of growing up w video games
man, even seeing this vid pop up in my rec page made me smile like a fool, This game means so much to me n to watch a retrospective on it with so much passion and love clearly on display feels truly special. even in the mario party circles i feel like i never see ANYTHING discussed about 7, good or bad. And finally seeing someone else sing Pagoda peak n Decathalon Castle's prases is just great! 7 for me also exists in this weird sort of bittersweet nostalga bubble, as it (and paper mario ttyd) were like... the last games i ever really played with friends before they sorta moved on from those games. 7 is still so quality even on its own however that i still find myself playing a game or two solo frequently, something i cant personally say i do for other mario parties other than maybe DS. Sorry for the huge wall of text lmao, this was genuinely a great retrospective. keep up the great work! cant believe your channel isnt bigger with this level of quality!
FINALLY SOME MP7 LOVE! My first ever properly owned Mario Party. Only thing I'd change is get nothing for duels and toggle on/off for Bowser Time. (Have not seen video yet)

Honestly, no matter how people often talk about Mario Party, i think it’s still an underrated series. And I love how people seem to give much more love and appreciation for this series, it was honestly ahead of it’s time!! It’s a remarkable and incredible, I just love it so much okay, im sorry 😅
I think the minigame Pokey Pummel has a pretty long intro. In Mario Party The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars you can simply skip the intro but in Mario Party 7 you always have to let the intro play out. So it must have taken much longer to play Pokey Pummel again and again in Mario Party 7 to set up a new record. Also Mario Party 7 is my most favorite Mario Party too! Mostly because of the 8-Player Mode which I played alone most of the time though. And also Bowser Time!, the GameCube Mic, Koopa Kid Orbs and Character Orbs making the game more diverse and exciting. And Mario Party 6 is my second most favorite title.
I would have been happier with this game if the Bowser Time gimmick was an option that could be turned on and off along with the usual settings and in it's place of being a regular game of Mario Party, the day and night cycle was in its place working like it did in Mario Party 6.
I personally feel without the x option, no character orbs fixed bonus stars and Bowser time not targetting a specific player mp7 would be the best mp game
I believe there was a bowser time event every 5 turns in bowserland in marioparty 2, as well. I could be wrong, though, as it's been a few years since I've played bowserland and I could just be imagining that the bowsertime mechanic activates every 5 turns.
I think 7 is good but is held back like Mario party 5. Bowser time really kills the game for me. That and the duels. You can get punished so hard for just playing the game
Dude amazing content! I am a Mario Party 6 guy but got to play this one on a week long summer vacation to the UP of Michigan. Glad to know it actually holds up, and not just me remembering it fondly because I was young. Picking it up next chance I get.

You can't just scoff at and so minimize clearly unbalanced mechanics as "nothing burgers". Unbalanced mechanics are bad no matter what game they're in, no matter how little or much they're brought up.
im definitely biased and blinded by nostalgia but i LOVE and will defend mario party 7 until i die. it may not be a perfect game, but the moments and memories i've had playing this game wouldnt be possible in other mario party. 8-player mode is goated
Its my favorite as well, mostly because of the minigames. Fun Run and Catchy Tunes are GOATS. I love most boards too, the souvenirs, the solo mode cool too and plenty more.

Well, I think 4:23 is the best time you can get, because you are not from the Ukraine. It is proven, by the Mario Party gods themselves, that Ukrainian fingers (meaning the fingers of those born in the Ukraine) are special. Why? I have a friend named Talia, who was born in Odessa, Ukraine back in 1967. Talia and I played MP7's Neon Heights together on 21 October 2012 while visiting some friends up in Churchill, Manitoba. During this 50 turn game with me as Waluigi, Talia as Toadette, and the other two friends as Mario and Wario respectively, Pokey Pummel came up, and 4:02 was the record time. Talia got 4:02 on Pokey Pummel, she did it entirely barehanded, nothing was between the pad of her right hand index finger and the A button, and this 45 year old Ukrainian mom bested us 20 to 24 year olds really well. When I asked her how the heck she did it, her answer was, "You have to have Ukrainian fingers to do it." Now I'm blind, (BTW I use a screen-reader for those who will inevitably ask how I use computers), so I didn't know what Talia's fingers look like. So, I took hold of Talia's right hand and felt her index finger. I even compared her right hand index finger to 4 others I know that were also born in 1967 (so would have been the same age as Talia), and apart from maybe texture due to occupation, no remarkable difference were present. That is why I bet you that the reason you can't hit Talia's score, is because you, a non-Ukrainian-born dude aren't blessed with Ukrainian fingers and whatever Bowser magic they possess. What do you think? Do you know anybody born outside Ukraine that can beat Talia's record without anything between the pad of their finger and the A button? Or do you have to have Ukrainian fingers to do it, like Talia? Good luck hitting 4:02 without the cloth.
4:56 is that your own tier list? The placements are perfect. Toad/toadette are virtually guaranteed the running star and the best odds of winning the shopping star as they have more opportunities to visit shops with the triple shroom orb (which seems to be a lot more common an orb than you’d think, at least in my experience).

7 is top 5 for me but it has clear flaws which is something i cannot say about 6
All i hate about 7 are the duels and the single player bowser and dk minigames.
While this isn’t my fav I still think it’s a super good one and easily in my top 5
