Most fandoms do not create pornography at the rate that the furry fandom does. Most fandoms do not spam said pornography all over the internet. They act out on purpose or for attention. If you speak to a normal person in this manner they will probably think you are strange and not want to speak to you. Furries publicly announce the fact that they are furries and proud of it. "I never thought that *I* would be the one cringing." This is basically how a "normie" feels when they see furries. It's not a hate, it's confusion. People dialing up to 11 and really getting into something you don't personally get. To use an example from my personal life about something else, when I see a kid go balls to the wall about something they love in a huge attention grabbing way, it makes me cringe really hard. I think it will take some time before it's considered a normal thing to do, just like how cosplay went through a lot of growing pains.

Way back when, I was a fursuiter/fursuit maker for years. It's one of those things that you love or hate and we were used to that dynamic. We would make appearances at the local zoo and children loved us. It was the perfect stress reliever; we could go out in public and act like total goofs without revealing our identity. On addressing the "dark side", we were very strict on conduct. We even had a training course on how to hug and pose for pictures with strangers. All in all, it was a very memorable time.

Omg I did not expect this video to change my perspective on furries. I used to avoid furries at comic convention and think of them as weird people spending too much money on being an animal, but as a cosplayer I noticed that we are not that different. Here’s the thing: lots of people who aren’t furries have a crush on Simba or Beast from beauty and the beast. They may not wear fur suits, but anyone who says stuff like “god, Simba was so hot,” don’t have the right to pick on people in costumes. Plus, it’s a costume. Costumes can’t hurt you. I wish I had the money to dress up like a knight. If I had money, I would be a knight or a pirate. But I don’t.
I'm not gonna lie, I've also fallen into the trend of hating furries for no apparent reason. It always seemed like it was on the basis that furries were "weird" and "cringey" and should be shamed because they are different, and the basis didn't really seem rational at all. None of what the furry community does is harmful to anyone, aside from the 1% of people that exist in every community that ruin everything for everyone. During the time I randomly hated furries, I find that my conceptualization of the furry community was that 1%, and after seeing this video, I realize that I was being really irrational and showing hatred for completely baseless means. The whole jumping on the hate bandwagon thing isn't just present here, though. I've been a fairly liberal person for pretty much my entire life, and my conception of conservatives was a group that consisted entirely of stupid, racist, bigoted people who do nothing but hinder progress. It was only after listening to my conservative friends and decided to start watching more conservative media to see the rationality behind conservative beliefs, and as a result, several of my opinions have changed, and I see that my view of the party was only of the 1 worst percent. I've learned a lot more as a result, and I find stupid people on both sides, and I also see on both sides in media, the other side is portrayed as entirely the 1 worst percent, and it's been very damaging and polarizing on everyone.

It’s just weird. Most people just find it kinda messed up to be sexually attracted to animals. Wether or not they’re anthropomorphic seems to be a big selling point for your community… when it doesn’t change almost anything for the average person.

This is basically how a "normie" feels when they see furries. It's not a hate, it's confusion. People dialing up to 11 and really getting into something you don't personally get. To use an example from my personal life about something else, when I see a kid go balls to the wall about something they love in a huge attention grabbing way, it makes me cringe really hard.

Way back when, I was a fursuiter/fursuit maker for years. It's one of those things that you love or hate and we were used to that dynamic. We would make appearances at the local zoo and children loved us. It was the perfect stress reliever; we could go out in public and act like total goofs without revealing our identity. On addressing the "dark side", we were very strict on conduct. We even had a training course on how to hug and pose for pictures with strangers. All in all, it was a very memorable time.

I'm not gonna lie, I've also fallen into the trend of hating furries for no apparent reason. It always seemed like it was on the basis that furries were "weird" and "cringey" and should be shamed because they are different, and the basis didn't really seem rational at all. None of what the furry community does is harmful to anyone, aside from the 1% of people that exist in every community that ruin everything for everyone. During the time I randomly hated furries, I find that my conceptualization of the furry community was that 1%, and after seeing this video, I realize that I was being really irrational and showing hatred for completely baseless means. The whole jumping on the hate bandwagon thing isn't just present here, though. I've been a fairly liberal person for pretty much my entire life, and my conception of conservatives was a group that consisted entirely of stupid, racist, bigoted people who do nothing but hinder progress. It was only after listening to my conservative friends and decided to start watching more conservative media to see the rationality behind conservative beliefs, and as a result, several of my opinions have changed, and I see that my view of the party was only of the 1 worst percent. I've learned a lot more as a result, and I find stupid people on both sides, and I also see on both sides in media, the other side is portrayed as entirely the 1 worst percent, and it's been very damaging and polarizing on everyone.
