Exactly. They exaggerate everything Max does and turn it into something bad even though a lot of drivers did the same and worse. @@Trailhiker1 I’ve shared Hills perspective since 2021. I believe the issue isn’t Max, the problem is the FIA’s lack of definition for track limits and pushing cars off corners vs let them race. There’s an inconsistency.
I think every driver not named Hamilton is probably jealous of Verstappen. This man is going to be a 4x champion with the only driver younger to get that many being Sebastian Vettel who he’s already surpassed in wins and beaten his 9 win race streak. So really the only driver comparable that’s still in a conscious state(pray for Michael🤞) is Lewis Hamilton and I don’t think Lewis could be jealous of anyone even if his records get broken because he has such a big brand. Damon Hill took it personal the way Schumacher would race him and I think he sees the same in Max and he has this Ted Kravitz vibe of we can’t let him get away with this and still be hailed as one of the all time greats. Unfortunately for Hill, Kravitz, that dumb blond guy on the Sky post races, Max is universally now being accepted as one of the all time greats. Brundle, Buxton would certainly say so and plenty other British pundits. Damon is hurt from Schumacher and he sees that same ruthless aggression almost dirtiness in Max.
Thanks to Peter Windsor's post race analysis I have started to focus on the drivers technical and mental fortitude on track i.e. short vs. long corner drivers etc. It is a pity we can't get visuals of the drivers footwork during the race....

@@AdMartens yes, they have clear prejudice. If Sky would only be broadcasting in Britain I would almost say it is expected as every national team favors their drivers. But the way its done is a little more then favorism and creates booing crowds. And as Sky provide their coverage for an international crowd they should uphold higher standards then they are currently doing.
The problem with F1 young drivers is they don't remove the old drivers. The are many drivers that have just filled seats for the last 5 years that should have been replaced by new drivers.
As someone who attended Vegas GP last year, it was a brilliant event (bar drain cover-gate) and actually exceptionally easy to get around compared to purpose built tracks (the traffic for Silverstone for example is a joke). The struggling ticket sales is purely down to one thing - cost. If it were the same price as other GPs, it would be a complete sell out.
Di Resta was sacked because he had very good relations with Max Verstappen, he travels with Max on his private plane etc. And than Max had problems with Ted and Max had information what was said internaly at Sky sports. And one plus one is two so Di resta was fired.
Damon's departure isn't about the Max Verstappen fan in Amsterdam, though. It's about the neutral fan in the USA, or Australia or wherever else he may be found who is sick to death of the biased Sky F1 coverage. Peter said if you don't like it, hopefully there is another opinion coming and any decent director would see to it (and then chuckled knowingly) and I must say that generally, the ladies and Martin try but their opinions are drowned out by the like of Chandok and Kravitz with Lazenby dismissive of opinions that don't sit well in Britain. Hopefully the axe continues to swing if that's what has been done.
The advantage of content on TH-cam is that it is very accessible. I decide who and when I follow someone. Fun and educational to follow you and Peter. There is a lot of speculation on TH-cam; also by you. That's sometimes too much, in my opinion. But your humor and poetic way of talking make up for a lot and a lot of your content is interesting in terms of content.
Peter is right. If you're going to go to the TV audience then the die hard fans that attend the races need to be compensated. Cut the the ticket prices and fill the stands. Otherwise we'll all end up watching it on TV and eventually end up watching sim racing. Without the real fans it'll die on its arse as a spectacle. Give the people what they want. Its entertainment.
I agree everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. But Race Control of FIA hiring countrymen of drivers competing is in itself questionable. If then some of these characters also appear in the media and feel the freedom to vent their own opinion which clearly breaths preference/bias, it becomes untenable. It has become blatantly clear that Race Control favours the runner up and slows down the leader in the championship. Similar as in '21. Remember their existence is tied to the popularity of the sport. I think in Brasil they totally disqualified themselves for the job as they were not even trying to hide it anymore. The VSC in Sprint, the Red Flag in quali. Choosing to penalise Max in the Sprint but just keep it a fine to pay for Lando’s start infringement during the race. All commentary outlets across the world have made remarks and jokes about their calls during that GP (well, apart from the British ones of course). I feel it is time to replace the governing body of this sport.
Everybody can have their opinion, like everybody can have the opinion about your opinion. If you like your opinion to be free from criticism, you shouldn't opine in the first place.
Hill is just Hill. Didn't care much for his opinion but he's allowed to have it. Should have expected the fall out but I don't think that's the reason they sacked him. More likely they want a new fresh face.
Young drivers entering formula one are 100% good prepaired because they run a million miles one the simulator. But after 5 GP`s they are strugeling because they did not practice this track, they have less time to prepair. And than you really can see the real talent. Do they have it or not.
Damon Hill strikes me as a bitter old man and not that of a Formula1 Champion. Max seems to be a trigger to Hill. My question is why is Max such a trigger for Hill. Must bring up ghosts of the past
8:20 I don’t know if I 100% agree with you Cameron. Build it and they will come. World class facility with an amazing track and near enough to Vegas. I’m with Peter I think it could do gang busters and we’ll never know if they never try it.
I SO agree with these two about what we fans want to see and hear after a race. Talking to drivers is usually uninformative about how the race unfolded.. As an example from another sport I watch....rugby union. After an international test watched on DAZN ,one former player tells me what has just happened 15 seconds ago ( I was watching so I know what happened) and the other former player explains why it happened, whether it was a good choice, how they might have done it and what the consequences were etc etc. Much learned. Peter's point that Damon offered an opinion is perfect.......if you disagree, it's a great talking point with your mates.
Peter, I am listening to you say how boring it is when he broadcast is only showing the low hanging fruit and I agree the commentators do not help. Either crafty is always explaining what DRS means and the most basic things that every fan already knows my biggest complaint is exactly what you said. Why don’t they get into the technical stuff what is the car doing 30 laps later now that it has lighter fuel what is the driver doing? How are they tackling different corners? This is one reason why I enjoy listening to you because you’re way more insightful but I do wish commentators were more technical in their commentary
Aha, so a journalist (and ex champ) that gives his honest opinion is not allowed because then he's a biased crybaby. Literally hating on a non existing problem. Who tf cares
Funny, but I have heard Damon praise non British drivers for three decades now…… when they deserve it obviously. WTF are all of you sensitive children whining about ? Max is absolutely brilliant, but he also pushes to the limit of the rules in a highly calculated manner. So did Schumacher, so did Senna, So what !
Damon Hill lost his cotton-picking mind. When he said Max was driving like Dick Dastardly, he seems to have forgotten that Dick Dastardly was Damon's own father. Think I'm making it up? Damon Hill is the one who confirmed it wasn't just Graham Hill's look that the cartoonist copied. "Just look at Dick Dastardly - that is my dad! In the ’50s they lived out of each others’ pockets."
There are three races here in the United States now and all of them are as far south as it gets so for the average person like myself who lives in the northeast I’ll never get to any of them and not due to the cost of getting there alone the ticket prices are ridiculous. It’s sad when it would be cheaper for me to fly halfway around the world and get an f1 ticket in another country. Afterthought here imagine springing that kind of money doing something you’ve dreamed of and you get what we had at spa a few years ago. I still feel bad for every one of those spectators to this day.
I FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING i can dissagree with the GOAT on!! I think Carlos going to Williams, with Albon and Vowles, thats a team ready to Strike. They are absolutely positioned to make some realnheadway and be a midfield contender. On up from there.
Wouldn't need quite as much money if the cars and engine specs weren't changed so often. As for Damon, he's dead right about Verstappen. Whilst I enjoy Peter Windsor's views and insight, those opinions are just that and to be taken along with Sky Sport's views and reviews. It all adds up to a divers oversight of F1. Also, I don't want opinion, I want analysis. And yes, I love books.
We need more people like Damon, whether you agree or disagree. Instead of all this sane washing going on, because people are scared of upsetting people.
Love how many times you bring up watching Peter Windsors 20 minute videos over the race... and how the more you say it... sadly the more I seem to do it, if i am lazy to watch a race 😂😂 Having attempted doing a post racd debrief, its funny how much what Peter said is true. People dont want a play by play analysis, they want a story and an opinion of the what's and why's that happen during the race. Speculative, evaluative, and subjective... since everyone knows the objective truth to a certain degree
Yes Peter, people still read books and if you write one about your time in F1 and mix in some personal stories and some technical insights and the occasional scandal, some of your beautiful photos , then everyone will buy it.
I think listening to the current team/drivers is more or less useless. They are all very much media trained. Good example is Valentino Rossi (and I know it is MotoGP). But in all of is post race interviews he just said "the track is great, the fans are great" and zero other info came out, so getting a more in dept understanding of the sport listening to former drivers and team bosses is a good informative thing. Secondly what all the broadcasters (be it Dutch or English) are doing the same sort of coverage. They report what they see, which is highly irritating because I have eyes myself. Sky just does it slightly better overall, in my opinion.... (people like Bernie Collins, Nico Rosberg, Damon Hill, all give insight on why things are or could be happening). And that makes it more informative imo. So the reason I watch TH-cam channels (or listen to podcasts) firstly is to get a better understanding on why. Plus people like Peter Windsor give a better understanding (and an addition) of a very secretive world.
I think it's time for teams to have 3 cars on the grid with a rookie in the 3rd car. 30 cars on the grid would make it better racing and to make it even better, no blue overtaking flags
Teams seem to take young drivers off the market until they decide if they are good enough,if not they are dumped out of the particular team / program they are in. Those that survive potentially have the correct talent at the correct time…same!
I don't think Peter understands what the word "bias" means. I've seen him do this a number of times. He always denies bias, and here he states that DHill isn't biased, but instead he's...then Peter describes the exact meaning of bias.
Beg your pardon Peter, but, being Dutch, I’ve watched F1 whenever a Dutchman was on the grid. Never saw them during a race! Director always opted for the number 1. Sick of shumi 😂
I had hoped that this wouldn't come up, a reaction about Trump, but I forgot this is an English media station, i really enjoy Pete Windsor, and I always did!! and always will, but I think the conversation should stick to F1, being in England, and the response similar to English political sentiment towards Trump, when England has its own problems, i guess the syndrome is attached to many, I wish they spoke about their own PM in the same tone, so please stick to f1, i wish Peter would start his own program in a larger matter I've told my friends who watch f1 to watch his show if they want a deeper insight into the team the drivers and the races, keep up your wonderful insight, especially when you spoke about how the focus sometimes is only on the first four in the race, also correct about the moment Toto got rid of Valteri, and the focus on the money when picking a driver. Good Show.
Max said something about a steward in 2017 the race in Austin. It hurt Demon Hill and I can understand. Max used the same word in 🇵🇹 practice 2020 when Lance Stroll hit him.
Love Peter - have watched and read him since forever, but he has lost the plot with his 'circuits in the desert' - some of still really do enjoy visiting the real venues. Also, why does Peter have such a consistent downer on Williams? Shame.
At the moment there's a bit too much inbreeding going on, there is little true journalism but a lot of gossiping agony aunts who are also ambassadors of watches, clocks or liquors and have threads and knots to former teams and teammates
When David raced he competed against a driver, Michael Schumacher, who drove in a similar fashion to Max, as both were both extremely talented and ruthless. Max like Michael will instinctively chose the option of taking out his competitor if he believes it will help his championship aspirations. As David was personally the victim of this from Michael, when he sees this same behaviour in Max, he gives his honest assessment. Politically he likely overstepped the mark in his comments, he could have safely made his point without running afoul of Sky Sport’s political sensitivities limit
Windsor’s take on what they should be showing on the broadcast is so insane. Who in their right mind wants to watch Verstappen 25 seconds ahead for 2 hours with literally nothing else happening?
I think its good that they are showing low ranked battles cause in the past they have showed too much of watching just the leaders just extending g the lead . Though it is hard to find the balance to please everyone.
The Bernie business plan was corrupt, and his wealth proves it. The ticket prices are ridiculous. Sport is spectacle. The racing is bad at Monaco, but the yachts line up. Vegas is a spectacle.
It’s not as if F1 doesn’t sell the English/Hills version worldwide so being that Biased towards all things British should be handeled like pro’s and Hill just can’t.
Damon didn't say that after Brazil. He said that after Mexico. He just barged Lando off the road then took both of them off the race track. It's true you can't race like that and it is wacky races tactics. That illegal overtake off the track cost Lando the win
It always good to hear the different perspectives. Sometimes it makes me change my point of view. But to Peters point at 36:30 I believe it is naive…. Come on Peter… it is all about the money/ show 😂🎉
Race strategy used to be the task of the written media , they would report in the magazines (autosport , f1 magazine) at the end of the week (motorsport even much later) and had a lot of time and effort to get it right. "Pundits" have only a matter of minutes and only offer opinions , not facts. Also "took a formula three driver into f1 and made him a world champion and don't know anyone else that done that...." the difference between bias and opinion is. that if max does something is bad. if a British driver does it is is fine. that is when opinions change into bias.
Exactly. They exaggerate everything Max does and turn it into something bad even though a lot of drivers did the same and worse. They also exaggerate british drivers when they do a simple move and act as if it was the greatest move to ever exist in motorsport when it's actually just Bottas slowing down for Lewis (for example) or british drivers overtaking Max because Max had an engine problem and had to retire his car (start of 2022 season).

Hill comes across as very very jealous of max
Watched Hill for years. Literally not once have I ever thought that.
@@heavensent7183Don’t even bother mate anyone that has anything negative to say about max can only be biased or jealous or whatever other word or phrasing they throw around no matter how accurate or warranted the criticism is. Like the criticism over Max’s defending against lando over Austin and Mexico….
@@Trailhiker1 Nope. Damon Hill just raced in an era where driving like Max could cost you or someone else's life.
Keep doing these shows, really good stuff. Cheers guys.
lewis was over when they changed the rules and we got new cars. He can't drive them in his style and he can't adapt. He has one drive style and can't switch.
Cameron is right about Peters commentary. I love it. Dont care for these ‘journalists’ with their stupid questions…
Dick Dastardly is literally making Verstappen a villain. That demonization, not an opinion. An opinion is that Verstappen is trying out stewards when he can't winning a high stakes game..
Its a silly cartoon villain, he should take the meme and run with it. Just like Sid the Sloth was on the RB car for mental health after being depicted as such by RPM.
@@makkert It is a villain. His criticism on lewis and land its featherlight or non existent while Ver is a flaw character. Commentators can be biased, but lewis '8th chs'?
@@AdMartens This was Hill right? Yeah, he is a bit of a tool. We have to call things as they are. Just like Mexico and Brasil represented the worst and best of Max. Max was a bit of villain in Mexico. Not unlike Schumacher in the past. He certainly isn’t a saint. Brasil was everything i love about Max, pure brilliance. But at his worst, he should expect to take an hit just like he is dishing out.
@ max was wrong at Mexico. He needs to be penalised and they must make sure he does regret it. But the issue is that Hill and Kravitz making a story for years that Verstappen is a flaw character and a dangerous driver. Thats not criticism.
Thanks for this Cam. Great discussion, I really like Peter, very old school.

One of the best F1 discussions I have listened to. Thank you gentlemen. Superb
Di Resta was sacked because he had very good relations with Max Verstappen, he travels with Max on his private plane etc. And than Max had problems with Ted and Max had information what was said internaly at Sky sports. And one plus one is two so Di resta was fired.
And there was me thinking he went because Sky subscribers didn’t like him as he had all the personality and charisma of a frying pan.

19:02 this. this. this. 100% agree. you can't say anything negative about max. look at ted kravitz forced to apologize for one statement.
I don't give a rat's *ss about "opinions" especially from the British on F1, but only good analysis.

You’re awesome Cam, you’re awesome Peter, you guys on TH-cam is so great for us fans.
Proper PTSD.
My guess is that Max called a driver a 'mogol' a while ago. Damon has a kid with an mental disability, so he took that personally.
It's a free world, life is not fair. Man up. Max does as well
Yes the goat of podcast is , cemeron & sir petter Windsor , thanks nice highlight

8:20 I don’t know if I 100% agree with you Cameron. Build it and they will come. World class facility with an amazing track and near enough to Vegas. I’m with Peter I think it could do gang busters and we’ll never know if they never try it.
A great TH-cam day, I got to see Peter Windsor and Joe Sayward. Neither of whom care about the hashtags thrown at them. Thanks Cam 👍👍
We value honest covery of the sport and that is why most watch guys like you two or others I guess.. 👍
Peter sporting a maple leaf. I like it! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great philosophical conversation thank you
Opinion my ass, it's called bias and nothing more.
I am glad this crybaby is leaving F1.
Aha, so a journalist (and ex champ) that gives his honest opinion is not allowed because then he's a biased crybaby. Literally hating on a non existing problem. Who tf cares
@@ajw1045of course he’s allowed, but not on Sky anymore
If every crybaby had to leave F1. We would have a pretty empty grid. Max is one of the first out, followed by Lewis, Yuki and Lando
So someone who praises “your guy” has an opinion but someone who criticises him is biased, got it.
Immediate like for the Canada flag sweater!!!😊
Thank you Mr Windsor 🏁
Love how many times you bring up watching Peter Windsors 20 minute videos over the race... and how the more you say it... sadly the more I seem to do it, if i am lazy to watch a race 😂😂
Having attempted doing a post racd debrief, its funny how much what Peter said is true. People dont want a play by play analysis, they want a story and an opinion of the what's and why's that happen during the race. Speculative, evaluative, and subjective... since everyone knows the objective truth to a certain degree
So are you saying you cannot get into the media areas for photography?
The venue owners need to make money. We in America like attending events. And the Sky broadcast always mention attendance numbers.
I never tune in when Monaco is on. Except qualifying
I thought Carlos should have gone to Alpine, and that’s looking correct based on recent performance and the Merc engine deal.
Yes Peter, people still read books and if you write one about your time in F1 and mix in some personal stories and some technical insights and the occasional scandal, some of your beautiful photos , then everyone will buy it.
Damon never got over 2021 they are all the same on sky sports they only have time for Lewis
Yes sky on the way out to politiclely correct i would watch a race withPW doing commentary all day long, I am sick of idiots doing comentary
Also, Americans lover their Cathedral like sporting venues and that can’t be understated.
Many F1 fans love the classic European tracks(cathedrals), including many American fans.
Las Vegas had to reduce prices last year not local friendly timing all aimed at tv...
Palou deserves a program here
I think listening to the current team/drivers is more or less useless.
You indeed have cred Mr Windsor
I don't think Peter understands what the word "bias" means. I've seen him do this a number of times. He always denies bias, and here he states that DHill isn't biased, but instead he's...then Peter describes the exact meaning of bias.
Yess!! The goat podcast has another episode!! Brilliant cam. Lovely opinions
You're a legend Kayla 🙏🏾🍻
Good Show.
25:00 100% how i ingest f1. The extended highlights in the gym after
Max said something about a steward in 2017 the race in Austin.
The fact is that over the years the action on the track gets less and less. People talking about it gets more and more.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out Hill, you won't be missed.
Yes he will
Windsor’s take on what they should be showing on the broadcast is so insane. Who in their right mind wants to watch Verstappen 25 seconds ahead for 2 hours with literally nothing else happening?
That’s like saying I don’t agree with him, but at least he exists 😂
This is my favorite part of the week. The GOATIEST of the GOATS! Keep up the good work Cam!
You're a legend. This means a lot. Thank you 🍻
I think its good that they are showing low ranked battles cause in the past they have showed too much of watching just the leaders just extending g the lead . Though it is hard to find the balance to please everyone.
I went to COTA and it was very expensive for a bleacher seat.
F1 should have gone it alone when they had the chance 8 years ago, and do their own thing.
Smaller cars have no batteries, just light, fast cars.
The Bernie business plan was corrupt, and his wealth proves it. The ticket prices are ridiculous. Sport is spectacle. The racing is bad at Monaco, but the yachts line up. Vegas is a spectacle.
It’s Damon’s opinion!!!.. And that’s what we want to hear!!!!
Also "took a formula three driver into f1 and made him a world champion and don't know anyone else that done that...." Peter Windsor.

Theres no such thing as too much swagger
Even if they sell it, ultimately the fia is the owner of f1, they have the sporting rights, liberty have comercial rights… but it is impossible to have f1 without the fia
