Martin is always so gracious and thoughtful. Never skirts the questions. Always adds detail to what he’s said in order to further clarify the point. Have really come to enjoy his perspective, and it’s just another reason why F1 was right to globalize the coverage including the US. He’s the real thing.
I would never say Martin has British Bias. I don't think he sees nationality, he just sees individual skill. But a lot of his colleagues can't hide their feelings. Anyway, Martins a legend of the sport! Would love to hear the Bernie stories !
Of course he has some British bias, it's effectively impossible not to have it. That said he is by far the most impartial of the Sky Sports F1 team regulars.

maybe a controversial opinion, but why can't commentators have bias opinions, I'd almost rather they openly disagree and discuss things on air. The best commentators are those passionate enough to react naturally.

It is always nice to watch and listen to Martin. He is a legendary commentator of F1 for his skill, his wisdom, his foresight, his impartialness, etc. Hope he stays with F1 for many years to come! Bravo!
@@Sticktothemodels He has a contract for something like 16-18 races, so he's doing the same amount that he did when he was a driver and when he started commentating. It will be devastating when he stops, I can't remember a time when he wasn't a commentator.

I loved to have a pint with Martin I can imagine the stories he would have I've followed F1 since 75 and still get excited when it's race day and martin's grid walks even in free practice Martin walks round the track showing great spots and he see in the cars at that part of the track keep it up Martin the new Murrey walker without the few mistakes that Murrey was famous for
Haven’t missed a race since 1988. Seen Martin drive and commentate. I especially like when Martin is describing what a single car/ driver is doing for a whole lap, and when Martin is standing beside the track. Always have Sky Sports commentary on my F1 TV feed if Martin is at the race. Thanks for everything, Martin!
Martin is the greatest! Seen all the races he has co commentated on. A natural broadcaster, if you asked me. And a Norfolk boy, like me. So he's got to be awesome 😂
Lime Rock 1988 GTP. A really good watch. Martin's only race at Lime Rock. He was driving the TWR Castrol Jaguar XJ-9. He smashed the track record in qualifying.
I remember a question which, I believe, Murray Walker asked Martin. The question was "What are the chances of (cannot recall the rest of the question)" And Martin's answer was "Slim and None.... and Slim's left town"
To me, Martin is one of the most important voices of F1, outside of drivers and team principals of course. His voice, his way of speaking and explaining things easy understandable is second to none. It feels like he is well respected on and off the grid. I enjoy listening to him and I appreciate is opinions. The only other person I can remember from the past was Marc Surer, who was and possibly still is very similar. Nico Rosberg, whom I didn't like very much as a driver, I respect a lot as a commentator. Jenson Button is also someone I have a lot of sympathy with. I hope these people stick around, because they make F1 a lot more approachable and enjoyable!
Yeah the British fans like him I understand. He is only totally not neutral. Ask Vettel, Alonso, Max. And people like Schumacher and Senna could also say how unfair British media was.
As an international viewer, I find Martin’s comments to be extremely unbiased and very well judged. His impulsive calls on race incidents are always spot on. His ability to read a race is unmatched, I find it hilarious that sometimes he needs to wake Crofty up of what’s really happening in the race.
Only on his side of the booth though. MB is still ace. I actually think KC is very good now but it still puts a dampener on the weekend when you see on a Friday that MB isn't there!

Martin was offered a Sauber drive mid 97, but turned it down siting prep time, but think he had found his 2nd calling by then. One of my favourite people in motorsport.
The only thing I disagreed with in this whole podcast was that British drivers don’t get preferential coverage. Ofc they do we only have to look at Brazil just gone , it was all Norris , Norris , Norris. They had to swallow the pill when max won from all the way back. Anyway apart from that .great podcast.

Let me tell you some facts: Sergio “Checo” Pérez plays a critical role within the Red Bull Racing team, offering strategic insights and an in-depth understanding of the team’s future direction. During the Brazil Grand Prix, his strong start contributed to Max Verstappen gaining at least six positions. Despite challenges with his car’s performance, Pérez consistently delivers valuable points for the team, demonstrating resilience and skill in the face of technical limitations. At the end it looks like he manages the team, since he knows better and in advance, thank you what is the future of RedBull’s contracts. That value is noticed by Red Bull and obviously it makes big brands support him.
Imo the SSF1 coverage has been in a decline. Martin is the best part of their coverage and personally i quite like Ted and his notebook but i does seem to me like Sky have gone down a road of “quantity rather than quality” I watch the races but switch off straight afterwards,sometimes on to here to catch the f1tv show and the notebook once uploaded.
You guys need to grow up. Any pundit, any presenter, any PERSON will have bias. - It’s called being a human. Just grow up. Nobody criticises Ferrari or Italian media for being pro Ferrari. It’s the real world.
The interviewer here did okay but he doesn’t know his subject well enough. When Brundle said he’d forgotten why he and MSC fell out after Nurburgring 2001 (when Brundle chastised Michael for hunting his brother Ralf towards the wall at the start) and the duo didn’t speak again until Brazil 2006 (MSC’s final F1 race), the interviewer should have been able to step in and remind MB of that incident because it was well documented at the time. Also it was Spa 89 when Brundle had his first taste alongside Walker as colour commentator, but I’m highly skeptical that Murray ever held his hands up in the commentary box because he didn’t have something to say, I’d imagine it was more likely in frustration at the commercials because Walker was known to get wound-up by those, especially when major events occurred while ITV were off the air (Hungary 97 and Nurburgring 97 immediately spring to mind). Overall though, Brundle comes across well here and I love that he picked Suzuka 99 and his favourite gridwalk when he nabbed Hakkinen, because that was brilliant! Although personally I rate the Nurburgring 1998 gridwalk ahead for those who have seen it. Good job MB, you remain the best colour commentator and a strong pundit in the F1 series even now in 2024.

This is insightful as to where sky goes wrong... Martin thinks that their main audience is actually British but they forget their feed goes international so the majority audience is actually non British.... It's also a pity he doesn't realize their inherent biases towards British drivers. Honesylt a huge number are stuck with sky for lack of alternative broadcasters with their bias presentation
I have a lot of respect for mr Brundle, but lets ask Hill and Kravitz how balanced they are. Its the villainising of Senna(Mansel), Schumacher(dirty), Montoya, Alonso (Ham), Vettel and now Verstappen. Biased is no problem, villainising is. Come on Martin. All non British champions in the recent past say British media are biased and were demonizing them. Fernando, Seb and now Max. You really think this is not the case? If Max sets one foot wrong you guys have complete analysis on the matter and saying he is too aggressive. Martin brundle is as important as Sir Jackie Stewart to F1. His knowledge is unmatched and says it as he sees it without bias.
Martin is my favorite person in F1! In Canada most of the races are obscenely early and I'm always happy to wake up early to catch the grid walk!

Itv cutting to a break so late in the race on the last sector at Imola was shocking. Schumacher and Alonso were having a proper battle out front.
That was so bad, while ITV were showing adverts for dog food and car insurance we were missing a classic.

I have a lot of respect for mr Brundle, but lets ask Hill and Kravitz how balanced they are. Its the villainising of Senna(Mansel), Schumacher(dirty), Montoya, Alonso (Ham), Vettel and now Verstappen. Biased is no problem, villainising is. Imagine a World cup football were every opponent are bad guys.

Come on Martin. All non British champions in the recent past say British media are biased and were demonizing them. Fernando, Seb and now Max. You really think this is not the case? If Max sets one foot wrong you guys have complete analysis on the matter and saying he is too aggressive. When one of the British drivers does something wrong there will be excuses made for what they did or their mistakes are completely ignored and not talked about.
Shame the questions were so obvious and unimaginative. Luckily Martin took the answers to an interesting place despite of the interviewer
