I’m sitting here in Australia having lived F1 for so long, I’m 64. Tom is such a wonderful & knowledgeable communicator & I have always wanted to see a subdued interview with BE. This had me from the outset. What an excellent blog. Thank you Tom & Ernie. What a collection, rarely a gathering of such legendary kit is in existence let alone accessed like this. Magnificent.
This is probably the best interview ever with BE and the insight into experience, history and some of those relationships along with the collection is truly outstanding. Thanks for doing this video.
totally agree. This is epic beyond words. Not only the (love or hate) Ecclestone, but those cars - just amazing. The Brabham collection, the Ferrari collection, but also the older myths like the Mercedes, the Shark nose, Maserati .... just totally spectacular. Am not a thoroughbred F1 / Race car expert, but would buy the book in a split second.
Interview of the decade. Sensitively and respectfully handled, Tom. This chat and the sale will go down in history as the last audience with a true legend. 🤝🏻
Love the way you handled this interview Tom, massively respectful of the man, the cars and the history. Brilliant. Well done. Give me first dibs on one of those Brabhams please
Thank you, Tom. You've done a wonderful job with this interview. Bernie may be controversial to some but his contribution to Formula One can never be overstated. His car collection is simply amazing. I hope some of these masterpieces will be shown to the public in the years to come. Please document each of the pieces and share the photos so those of us that aren't able to own one can at least admire them.
Love how he uses the interview to push value and interest. Niki car, someone wanted to offer unlimited amount. He does not want to sell. Such a smart guy
Referring to Bernie's early motorcycle days reminded me of my great friend Rod Coleman from New Zealand. Raced and won the Isle of Man junior TT in the early '50's, then came back to N.Z. to inaugurate the Suzuki national dealership (all bikes, cars, marine etc). At 93 he was still full of knowledge about those halcyon days. Often started with bikes...
Ive been following F1 and motorsport for nearly 50 years, this is one of the best interviews with Bernie and one the best insights into the man who created what we know as F1. Also living close to Biggin Hill ive heard the rumours of this collection, seen some of the cars at Goodwood and Silverstone, but seeing it on these interviews is a mind blower. The most important collection of GP cars out there (?). Thanks Tom HJ, epic doesn't come close...
Tom, thanks for a brilliant interview which is both amazing and very sad. In some ways, elements remind me of my late dad, how even the most strong and fiercely determined men soften towards the latter years. Bernie, the F1 supremo is a remarkable man with a magnificent collection. The fact he is handling this despite not wanting to shows how passionate he is about his pride and joys and care for his family. This video will become an icon for many years to come. Good luck with the sale and I wish Bernie many more happy and healthy years to come.
What a Video Bernie had such a Story to tell what a Life he had, Tom from controversies all through F1, the Ferrari Files with McLaren, Drivers Passing away what and the effort involved Bernie Story is remarkable and F1 was and is now …… Thanks for this Tom
This came up on my feed and I dithered - do I spend 37 mins watching…..? What a truly tremendous video with Tom handling the conversation so well! A great and inspiring start to my weekend. Thanks Bernie and Tom.
You only ever see these types of cars in photos or video games, to know they’re alive, well looked after and will go into good hands with people who’ll care for them is special
What a fabulous interview. A really interesting character. I was glued to the screen for all 37 minutes. Cant wait to see what these cars go for. Keep up the good work 🚗👍
A very emotional interview maximum respect and patience from Tom talking to a man who is living history going through a process that is obviously a recognition of his own mortality
It’s uploads like this that make your channel one of my favourites; the quality of cars, their history and stories that go with them are fascinating. Thank you for sharing this with enthusiasts.
If I was able, I would buy the whole collection to keep it together in Bernie's honour. This mans achievement defies apt description. Thank you for your work Bernie. You have given me a lifetime of the most exciting and special sport imaginable.
Bernie is the legend of F1. It is testament to Tom that Bernie trusts him to sell his amazing collection of F1 cars. Brilliant interview Tom. So looking forward to the progress of this amazing story.
Excellent interview, very enjoyable and informative. I never tire of hearing stories such as these and from such a wily old chap like Bernie. He really does embody F1’s history. Big respect to Bernie. We all know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I bloody love him. Well done to you too Tom, great interview style. Hope to see the walk round next to hear more of the history of these cars.
Depending on how you think of best. A broad F1 collection would likely have a Tyrrell P34 six wheeler if any survived, and a Lotus 25 (first monocoque mid engine). But I know what you mean, it's outstanding to see.
Damn this is probably one of the most iconic videos on TH-cam ever But just how Ernie reacts to everything is so freaking amazing you can just notice like his deep regret when talking about Jochen Rindt but at the same time he seems to absolutely not care about how big Formula 1 is nowadays and what a role he played in it like just „yeah things happen whatever“
What a legend. Like him or loathe him it is unlikely we will see people of Bernie's like again. Legendary indeed. Beautifully and expertly shot by the team, exceptional production. Now to find the Reddies for the Brabham BT44 (8 in Martini livery) which for me is iconic simply for looking soo archetypal of a 70s F1 car. The Reuttemann and Lauda Ferrari's are something to behold, just don't sell them to Charles Leclerc they may end up backwards in a wall at the Rascasse in Monaco (if you know you know!)!
Watching this for the second time now. Fantastic! What a collection and what an honour it must be to be in charge of selling these beautiful pieces of Formula 1 history! Hats off to you, Tom!
These two must have known each other for years...great to see Bernie so relaxed as hes being interviewed hes obviously got a lot of time for Tom and respects him..great video.
Fascinating, everyone has an opinion on Bernie, he is utterly unmoved and just his own man. This is him being very open, clearly a lot of trust in you. Good luck with the collection.
Congratulations Tom , There’s a reason why you’ve got Mr E’s Trust and well deserved it is too . Like or loathe Bernie, if you’re a fan of F1 , Bernie made the sport the commercial success it is today . Liberty Media likewise have grown the sport again. Like history repeating, Fans didn’t always agree with Bernie and they don’t always agree with Liberty either. Fantastic video update and I’ll follow closely even without the funds to dream .
This is a great interview and I learnt so much on the walkaround on the Ferraris. I met Bernie once, was only a handshake. I wish I could’ve had more of a chat to be honest.
Another fantastic video and interview Mr Hartley, very respectful and knowledgeable Bernie is such an interesting character and good to see him in this environment oh and what a stunning collection of cars.
Great interview, Tom. Great conversation to draw out so many memories from this great man. I’ll remember this for a long time to come as a F1 fan since the 1970s. Thank you so much and wishing you every success in this “deal of the century.” (An overused term but in this case it really is )
This man IS formula ONE!! I’m surprised it’s still going! Keep this man safe he’s a national treasure and a hero of mine! I just wish he’d of save one of those cars for me!! Long live Bernie!!! 🇬🇧 Rule Britannia
He is a absolute masterclass in being a business man. He has everyone dancing to his tune. Plus he's great fun. Loves a good joke. His xmass cards are legendary.
Bernie is a genius with a big heart he created the most incredible motor sport event through his love of F1 racing and everything that went with it nothing good can be achieved without passion and he always included a group of people like Ken Tyrell Frank Williams and Colin Chapman good luck to you Bernie wish you could live forever kind regards from Adelaide Australia
Respect Bernie, not flash just calm and always a master of never actually explaining how he landed up with his wealth. The right has the job to sell his collection well done Tom 👏
there is something serene to listen to very old but successful people. you can feel it with every fibre how much they have lived their life and experienced so much.
Fantastic video Tom, many thanks for sharing this testimonial - I hope to age that well as Sir Ecclestone and wish Him a lot of healthy prosperous years to come!
Hands down the best automotive TH-cam video of 2024 👏👏👏 Bernie, what a legend, beyond modest, literally hanging off every word he spoke So sad that he doesn’t want to sell his cars, but knows now is the right time 😞 Cannot wait to see the story unfold, hoping we will see a full walk around of each and every car One question, Tom how did you cross paths with Bernie?
I don't think the whole Andretti thing would've happened how it did with Bernie, I think he would have told the teams let Andretti in or else and they would've shut up and let Andretti in.
Let's hope he didn't say anything that is going to cost controversy. Edit: This was a great interview. He was just simple and honest. His line "Million of people get the opportunity that I had but I grabbed at the right time" Feels so right! because no one before him thought they could make this sport a multi billion dollar sport from running it as a show.
An amazing person in many ways, if there is someone you would like to spend time talking with he is definately on the top 10 list. Missing the FW14B but apart from that these cars should end up in a museum and in Europe which is where F1 was born and belongs.
I can't think of anyone who's reached 94 and still had a brain as sharp and witty as his. Incredible man.
Love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him. He made F1 the sport it is today. He is an amazing character.
Absolutely
1000%
I was just thinking the same
Yep. Just about sums him up!
Love pure love, and a lot respect!!!❤
A living legend. Represents the golden era of F1. Like others have mentioned, he IS Formula 1! Great job on making this interview happen, Tom!
I’m sitting here in Australia having lived F1 for so long, I’m 64. Tom is such a wonderful & knowledgeable communicator & I have always wanted to see a subdued interview with BE. Thanks!
This is probably the best interview ever with BE and the insight into experience, history and some of those relationships along with the collection is truly outstanding. Thanks for doing this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This, is just one of the best videos TH-cam has ever seen.
We appreciate this!
totally agree. This is epic beyond words. Not only the (love or hate) Ecclestone, but those cars - just amazing. So true!
Interview of the decade. Sensitively and respectfully handled, Tom. This chat and the sale will go down in history as the last audience with a true legend. 🤝🏻
Bernie is rare in the media. His words are worth listening to. All ears open.
Love the way you handled this interview Tom, massively respectful of the man, the cars and the history. Brilliant. Well done. Give me first dibs on one of those Brabhams please
I love the way you are so respectful to Bernie
Thank you for the interview with Bernie. He is rarely in public lately.
Sharp as a tack at 94 !
Not just making history, but documenting it - for that, thank you.
Wish I had half his memories what a life this man has lived
Thank you, Tom. You've done a wonderful job with this interview. Bernie may be controversial to some but his contribution to Formula One can never be overstated. His car collection is simply amazing. Seeing this pop on my feed just made my day!!! The level of excellence in that room is truly awe inspiring. THJ is the only man for the job!
❤️
@@TomHartleyJnrLtdDo more of this. Early F1 Legends need to tell their stories. It's important to document these guys on film/tape.
Thank you.
Tom, what you are doing for the 'Car world' is remarkable - Thanks for all this truly fantastic content 👏👏👏
Many thanks!
What an honour and a privilege to represent Bernie’s collection.
Fantastic interview. Well done Tom!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Loved the end of the interview. Bernie not wanting to accept accolades and also Tom wanting to become a race car driver. Love it.

Wow! We need more of people like Bernie in today’s world!

I love Bernard, what an absolute character,i can't believe how good he looks at 94!

Glad you enjoy it!
For me a long term F1 fan that was amazing thank you 🎉
You gotta do more of these talks with such motorsport historians. This was amazing. Waiting to see a detail video on every car in this collection.
If I was able, I would buy the whole collection to keep it together in Bernie's honour. This mans achievement defies apt description. Thank you for your work Bernie. You have given me a lifetime of the most exciting and special sport imaginable.
Tom, this is one the greatest interviews you have ever done. Interviewing one of the greatest men in motor racing. ❤
Bernie is the legend of F1.
It is testament to Tom that Bernie trusts him to sell his amazing collection of F1 cars. Brilliant interview Tom. So looking forward to the progress of this amazing story.

Been waiting for this😁 absolutely incredible collection, probably the best collection of f1 cars in the world.

OK, thats really breathtaking! Thank you so much for posting
From the bottom of my heart thank you for this warm interview. I am an 70s kid and a brabham BMW ❤
What a legend. Like him or loathe him it is unlikely we will see people of Bernie's like again. Legendary indeed. Beautifully and expertly shot by the team, exceptional production. They should be used on track!
This is the most important/significant interview ever for us fans of cars, Motorsport or F1... Goldern post
Watching this for the second time now. Fantastic! What a collection and what an honour it must be to be in charge of selling these beautiful pieces of Formula 1 history! Hats off to you, Tom!
Spellbinding interview - loved the way THJ interviewed Bernie with such respect and love.
These two must have known each other for years...great to see Bernie so relaxed as hes being interviewed hes obviously got a lot of time for Tom and respects him..great video.
Incredible interview, Tom. The media had always portrayed Bernie as some sort of megalomaniac monster but he’s quite the opposite!
Fascinating, everyone has an opinion on Bernie, he is utterly unmoved and just his own man.
This is him being very open, clearly a lot of trust in you.
Good luck with the collection.
Amazing interview and cannot wait for more! Thank You for allowing us to share this experience with you ❤
As someone born in the late 90’s this was such a wonderful education on Bernie’s influence and construction of Formula 1, thank you
The man and what a man, what a life the little fella has led and still as bright as a button!
Congratulations Tom , There’s a reason why you’ve got Mr E’s Trust and well deserved it is too . Bernie is a shrewd geezer ! Thanks for the mammories..
I hope people understand how exceptional this is video is and what a incredible person!
This is a great interview and I learnt so much on the walkaround on the Ferraris. I met Bernie once, was only a handshake. I wish I could’ve had more of a chat to be honest.
Excellent interview Tom, such a shame the collection has to be broken up but hoping the best stays in the UK 🇬🇧
Some of those cars had been raced rather successfully many years ago before Bernie owned them, hoping that at least some of them make a return...
Another fantastic video and interview Mr Hartley, very respectful and knowledgeable Bernie is such an interesting character and good to see him in this environment oh and what a stunning collection of cars.
Incredible sale and interview Tom. Just historic.
I could actually watch a whole series of this.
Great interview, Tom. Great conversation to draw out so many memories from this great man. I’ll remember this for a long time to come as a F1 fan since the 1970s. Thank you so much and wishing you every success in this “deal of the century.” (An overused term but in this case it really is )

Congrats Tom ! What a pleasure and interesting it must be to work with such an exceptional man.
Respect Bernie, not flash just calm and always a master of never actually explaining how he landed up with his wealth. The right has the job to sell his collection well done Tom 👏
Thank you Mr Ecclestone. You've helped imprint some of my most treasured memories ever.❤
there is something serene to listen to very old but successful people. you can feel it with every fibre how much they have lived their life and experienced so much.
What a beautiful and sincere interview. So many fantastic stories, please do a part 2 if possible.
No one did ever replace Bernie… and no one else better to conduct this interview Tom..well done
I have never seen a good interview with Bernie. This is incredible on that feat alone, you did a brilliant job here.
Great interview looking forward to seeing the collection
That was class. Great interview Tom. Bernie was very humble
Love this, every time bernie talks we listen
I've never been a fan but I think Bernie came across this beautifully on this video.
HOPEFULLY.... you can get an interview with Eddie Jordan sometime.. ✌🇮🇪
Two incredible legends of motoring, Bernie has definitely mellowed with age. Wonderful video.
Fabulous - really enjoyed that. Quality through and through from every angle.
This is the first time I have seen an interview with Bernie , I thought he was a jerk all this yrs . How wrong I was . He is a humble man
Will always have a soft spot for Bernie for the way he looked after Sir Frank and his team.
Well said.
The delboy of F1 , great man for f1❤🏁🏁
Truly brilliant interview with THE most influential person in Formula 1 ever! Great work Tom Hartley Jr!!
Fantastic video Tom, many thanks for sharing this testimonial - I hope to age that well as Sir Ecclestone and wish Him a lot of healthy prosperous years to come!
Hands down the best automotive TH-cam video of 2024 👏👏👏
Bernie, what a legend, beyond modest, literally hanging off every word he spoke
So sad that he doesn’t want to sell his cars, but knows now is the right time 😞
Cannot wait to see the story unfold, hoping we will see a full walk around of each and every car
One question, Tom how did you cross paths with Bernie?
Always liked Bernie - comes across as a genuine guy. Sid Watkins books gives a good insight
What ever people's take on Bernie Eccelstone,he has to be admired.
fantastic insightful interview.....good luck with the sale!
Right now F1 could do with Bernie back part time.. it’s such a mess today..❤ a lovely video Tom…
I don't think the whole Andretti thing would've happened how it did with Bernie, I think he would have told the teams let Andretti in or else and they would've shut up and let Andretti in.
A Legend of a man Bernie is he's done it all his way, you have to admire him.
Great interview , great questions , you listened well , he clearly respects you and congrats on this opportunity 👏
Fantastic and Unique Insight into the politics, friendship and rivalry of the Sport from a brilliant Interviewer, thank you so much!
the old man is a living legend. Respect from Brasil.
Been waiting for this!!!! ❤❤❤
Absolutely stunning collection. Well done THJ.
Thank you kindly
Let's hope he didn't say anything that is going to cost controversy.
Edit: This was a great interview. He was just simple and honest. His line "Million of people get the opportunity that I had but I grabbed at the right time" Feels so right! because no one before him thought they could make this sport a multi billion dollar sport from running it as a show.
You've outdone yourself this time Tom☺⚡🥰🙏fantastic interview with THE formula One Guru❤
Well done Tom for putting this together. Wishing you & family merry Christmas & all the best with the new development The Firs. 👍🇬🇧🏆
Many thanks!
This is a wonderful interview ……thank you. The cars take me back to my childhood.
An amazing person in many ways, if there is someone you would like to spend time talking with he is definately on the top 10 list.
Missing the FW14B but apart from that these cars should end up in a museum and in Europe which is where F1 was born and belongs.
I've always got the feeling Bernie is a really really great fella. Very interesting to hear his thoughts on a few topics.
Thank you.
