      If he gets to the point in recovery when he can go down to the streets without worry of relapse, I could see him thriving as a front lines treatment outreach worker. They go out in the streets to bring people in to rehab, dodging the constant threat of violence, administering Narcan, arranging detox or temporary shelter (motels, etc), and emotionally supporting clients through the crisis of getting from the streets to a treatment opening. Not everyone is capable of it, but it’s great for adrenaline junkies. I work in recovery systems and have been through them, and they need a guy like this, if he’s interested and ready. Some people do better totally away from the scene, in some other high stakes area…business, emergency first responders…all kinds of things. Just a thought.

    • @myeyeswentdeaf6213
      @myeyeswentdeaf6213 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Even as a heroin addict myself, I think it’s worse. It would take me a week to do the amount of money in dope a gambler could lose in a couple’a minutes. I bet that’s why his gambling started to slow down as his opiate addiction got worse.

    • @myeyeswentdeaf6213
      @myeyeswentdeaf6213 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @Hiden Goseke Yeah, shooting fentanyl is the biggest gamble you could make, but I actually feel like gambling is a worse addiction in the sense that you can blow soo much more money sooo much faster. And I think it’s harder for a real gambleholic to quit gambling than for a heroin addict to quit. There’s no methadone or suboxone for gambling. There’s also triggers everywhere. Like if you quit heroin you stay away from people places and things, but gambling, you have sports games on all the time, everybody’s always talking about sports, even commercials for random things are sports related during the playoffs or around the super bowl, adds for casinos every other mile on the highways, internet adds for that shit popping up all the time, and all of that. Idk, it just seems gambling is harder to get away from. Fentanyl makes opiate addiction more dangerous, but as for the pull of addiction I thing gambling is worse.

It has been 5 days and he is barely speaking to me. He did drugs as a kid but nothing stuck. I have been blowing up his phone and he texted me 2 times to answer. I dumped 2 8 ballls down the toilet while he watched me flush it. I am not answering the phone to anyone who does mefh. And i am going back to narcotics anonymous. I am a son of good parents. Sober parents (who struggled with addiction before i was born but having kids kept them clean). They both loved me growing up. My father was quite involved, but i was given too much freedom. I still became an addict at a very young age. Age 15 to 29. Fetanyl addict. I reached out to get professional help, and was successful. I've been clean over 5 years, and have a beautiful son. My son unfortunately lost his mother to drug addiction... so I will try to raise my son as my father raised me, except I will try to be even more involved so my son don't have the addictions that myself, and his mother did. Education, I believe, is what's going to break the cycle of addiction. Being honest about it to our friends and even our children.

    I found myself smiling at some of Joe’s stories, then I found myself frowning at some others as well. Charisma and energy - too bad he isn’t using it in the “right” way (for him). All said with that heavy, undeniable and very familiar NY accent 🗽

    "Dont trust anyone".. Absolutely.
    In this life, ONLY YOU look after you. We each leave this life alone. We each act upon it alone.
    In the end we only know ourselves 100%; and even then, aren't we constantly trying to convince ourselves of this and that? All life is a manipulation.

      Billy Walters is the MAN!!
      Or at least I believe so, Maybe it’s because he was an entrepreneur even as a kid, Started off dirt poor, From the Deep South, Started off in the car business, Found questionable business practices perfectly acceptable as a young man, etc..
      When describing him to people that know me I say, He’s just like me except he found substantially more success lol
