I get how some comedic relief characters can end up being obnoxious and i get how Darcy in particular could just be an annoyance but truthfully her first few jokes are the only times i actually cackled out loud! Like when she asked that dude in the truck what field he works in and he refused to answer her and then he decided to tell her in the end and she’s like “yeah i don’t care” 😂 she was really saying what was on my mind
I really hope that this is what theese shows will be used for. I couldn't care less for wanda or vision, now i do. I can't care less for Falcon, and i really hope do end up caring.
Personally, I don’t know how anybody couldn’t have cared about them after Infinity War. Their relationship was the single biggest emotional crux of the entire movie.
Shout out to Paul Bettany for trolling the entire internet by saying he had "great chemistry with an actor he's always wanted to work with." To be fair he did have great chemistry with himself
Dont forget not only was it “someone” he wanted to work with, he said someone he wanted to work with his entire life 😂😂 well played Mr. Bettany well played
@@glendarjj3991 Even better: it featured one of my nostalgically favorite MCU characters literally outsmarting himself. We need more of these kinds of endings, where the hero talks down to the villain instead of disintegrating them. This harkened so hard back to Age of Ultron’s ending, and I love it.
@@themadtitan7603 IMPOSTER! Also, we got Vision’s little speech to Ultron at the end of Age of Ultron before that, but good example. But still, IMPOSTER!

To get this out of the way, axxl nobody likes these begging bot comments, so just stop. But more importantly, I agree people that are convincing themselves of the most far fetched fan theories are going to obviously get disappointed. This was an original tale of wanda dealing with grief in a very interesting episode structure that turns into an evolving sitcom. I honestly think the show would get way too much if they added in xmen crossover etc. While not perfect, I am really happy with how wandavision turned out.
I feel what they meant by "it was Agnes all along" was in reference to the weird things messing with Wanda's show and keeping the illusion up and just overall pulling strings - seeing her mess up her line and asking to go again, always showing up right with what Wanda needs when she needs it, Pietro not really being something Wanda made, manipulating vision in order to see how far she can push the hex - that sorta stuff. maybe they coulda made it a bit clearer, but that was just what I took away from the phrase.
To be real, the whole Pedro thing and dog thing was the ONLY REAL thing we could attribute to her. I asusmed wanda mads her come ovee as her best pal. Like i love Lucy whenver she xalls her friend over. They clued us in ablut pedro not being her doing. But nothing about agnes. So the reveal felt pushed/rushed or thrown in. Then all of a sudden she was an evil witch. The end.
Well we just had a creative and original show Marvel being marvel, they have to equal it out with a pure action show lacking all creativity and originality. *perfectly balanced as all things should be*
Bro that Ship of Theseus scene was fucking lit, the music and the dialogue gave me goose bumps and then he restored his memories to his real self. You're right, super hero movies don't have be all about physical violence, though I still like seeing brawls, the fact that Fake Vision defeated his foe with logic is exactly how you would expect Vision to win a fight.
My take away from the whole fight scenes was that both were equally matched in combat so Wanda's Vision decided he needed to beat White Vision in a logic paradox.
I agree, people need to understand that not every MCU entry has to have some major tie-in or build to a future movie or show. People forget that, one of the problems people have with the MCU is that some of fhe movies focus too much on building up a future story instead of trying to stay focused on their own. I'm glad that WandaVision, aside from building up Captain Marvel 2, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and probably A&TW: Quantumania, told its own story.
@@breadstick4443 Yes, definitely agree. That's one of the reasons the Ant-man and GOTG movies were so enjoyable. They didn't feel like a big set up or filler to the next Avengers movie, they told their own stories. And WandaVision doing the same, despite helping set up Multiverse of Madness, Captain Marvel 2, and Quantumania, is quite refreshing and a nice change of pace. Especially since this is the first MCU content we've had in over a year, since the pandemic began.
The thing I'm very happy about is that they didn't kill off Kathryn Hahn and she has the chance to be in a future installment. I thought she was the funniest, most entertaining villain in a long time, and I hate it when superhero movies introduce a fun entertaining villain and kill them off at the end of their first appearance.
Exactly if there’s one thing that has disappointed me with marvel movies is that they never build up a rogues gallery of villains but at least in this case Agatha will come back
@@Ethan-nl2wg seriously. Like why did they have to kill Klaw?! Killmonger I could understand due to the story, but Klaw? He's the perfect villain to use multiple times for Black Panther.
The performances from the main actors were so good. Playing a depressed and traumatized, super powerful witch who doesn't understand her powers and an AI who is not quite human, but so much more at the same time, through the lenses of different sitcom styles, in a very grounded non super hero setting seems like such a difficult task and Olsen and Bettany killed it.
we are not the studio audience laughing along. the show in the movie universe was not written to make people laugh. its an illusion. These jokes are just what wanda had seen from reruns growing up. I mean, wanda isnt a comedian. She created the hex. She created the personalities in a way consciously or not. They are acting out tropes and cliches wanda saw from her childhood. They are not comedy scenes. They clues to what the fuck is happening.
alright and i’ll that it’s still trying to be a form or media meant to entertain. the first three episodes are like a piece of shit with a few pieces of corn in it. just because the corn is there, doesn’t make the shit around it tasty
This is exactly it. People keep responding to this criticism saying "Well then what's the point if its not actually entertaining" and to them I would ask what they find entertaining about a movie like Barry Lyndon. It's really impressive to see people so authentically replicate a time period or an era in media. The fact that they had every detail so expertly in place is enjoyable to watch if not just for the appreciation of the craft.
I don't think I disagree with a single point in this entire video. There's always at least one thing I don't agree with, but I was basically just nodding my head through the entire thing here. Could have been better, could have been worse, didn't need to have a sky battle at the end, but it's not like it ruined everything. Fun superhero show about grief featuring characters that really should have had more to do in their movies.
The only thing I perhaps disagreed with was that vision and wanda weren't likeable before. Maybe its just me but I actually really felt bad for their romance in infinity war. And when wanda had to kill vision in that horrific way. Heartbreaking.
Well he kinda does, in agathas cave there are symbols relating to him and at the end Agatha tells Wanda that she’ll need her help, probably because in doctor strange there will be a big bad guy
@@poeterritory the cicada on the window convinced a lot of people that it was mephisto, since apparently in the comics he was a fly on the window, plus the camera focusing on the cicada like how it did definitely didnt help
I loved LOVED when they broke the cozy sitcomfort zone with creepy little moments that were off. That shit was BRILLIANT. Then two episodes exposition and pewpew. Sigh. It was fun ride tho.
For me the humour I thought was supposed to kind of be bad and match each sitcom style of writing. The jokes were never quite funny but I did find myself giggling or chuckling when I tried to put my state of mind into each sitcom’s era. I mean I never found sitcoms particularly funny in the first place I didn’t really mind the humour at all and rather thought it added to references of each era.
You're right. They weren't trying to be hilarious, they were trying to make silly sitcom references that were cute/funny enough to get by and be entertaining while the mystery of the show unraveled in the background. We know that the MCU is capable of some solid humor and this show had some here and there.
@@sterlinggutierrez5240 I’m not sure I agree with this logic. There are sitcoms from each of the time periods they’re spoofing that are actually funny, and saying that the sitcoms scenes were “bad on purpose” feels like a copout, because in the end we’re still left with these scenes that aren’t entertaining and you’re just waiting for them to be over with so we can get back to plot.
This show made me go back and watch Infinity War and when Wanda and Vision were in Glasgow, he asks her what she feels in the mind stone cuz it's like bothering him or something. She says she only feels him. And then at the end when she has to kill him, he tells her that it's okay, it doesn't hurt, all he feels is her. So when she breaks into the lab and goes up to the body, it was all the more heartbreaking because she says, "I can't feel you." I really appreciate the attention to detail cuz I feel like a lot of ppl don't even remember those lines in IW.
A friend of mine said "funny" scenes in his view were more like a "Get Out" type horror story. With Wanda straight making sure everyone stays in character no matter what happens. With Wanda and Vision their comedy scenes just felt, like good little bonding moments that were suppose to be like "aww that's sweet".
People really expected them to reveal mutants, bring in Mephisto, introduce multiverses and have a cameo from either Doctor Strange or Mr. Fantastic all in this one show. In reality this was basically just Wanda's really long therapy session and I didn't mind that. Edit: Yes I would have liked to see a cameo from Doctor Strange since that would have made the most sense but I don't mind that we didn't
I was disappointed that Dr. Strange didn't make a cameo and I think it would have been cool if Mephisto was set up as a possible phase 4 threat but apart from that I agree, the theories did get it a little out of hand
@@ShadowMentor You got nothing because you guys expected so much from this show, they wouldn't do insane stuff like that because not everyone can watch the episodes because they don't have disney plus and they can watch the movies anytime. You expected too much and now you can't handle the normal ending.
I lol'd a lot during some of the sitcom parts, e.g. "That was my grandmother's piano...", And "is that how mirrors work?!" And when Debra Jo Rupp covered Wanda's eyes before leaving. Maybe it's bc I've watched a ton of sitcoms and appreciate that style of humor, who knows. Loved the show.
The humor was great! Me and my GF kept cracking up especially during the Magic Show. We almost did not want the vintage sit-com bits to end. Definetly the fav part for us... but then we are very into that 50-60s aesthetic.
@@connieallen6804 im sure the 50s and 60s were accurately recreated but to me they were painfully unfunny. But that has to do with humor styles evolving and becoming outdated. I did find some of the Modern Family stuff funny though (I actually did bite a kid).
The pre-Agatha section of the show was amazing - the intrigue, the mystery, the uniqueness. Post-Agatha it did lose some lustre just because a lady in a robe with CGI powers just isn't quite as interesting as the mystery. FYI the title is a play on words on 'Wanda' and 'television' - which is which the show was always going to focus on her more than Vision.
In my opinion, this is the most creative and interesting "thing" for Marvel to have created! I personally love the sitcom parallels, flashbacks, side characters, and all-around wacky and mind-boggling plots this show has to offer. I also may be saying this from a biased point because I have loved Wanda ever since Age of Ultron!!!
GotG Vol. 2 had the most interesting themes of abuse, fatherhood and love. This was a mystery that couldn't really be solved by the fans but rather by dumb luck or just watching the show. I never felt like there were real clues as to what was going on.
I feel like the comedy in the sit com episodes and scenes are just trying to be "tongue and cheek" of the time periods they are emulating. so its not suppose to be funny to current viewers ( the 2020's ) it's suppose to be funny to people who watched it during those time periods ( 50's , 60's , 70's ETC )
The show kinda got undersevred by by the finale feeling a bit rushed but overall a great and an uniquely crafted show but most importantly, it finally made me invested in *Wanda and Vision* and their character arcs and I can't wait to see how they develop them further (specifically Wanda) in future MCU projects.
That was fantastic, and so was the dinner scene where the boss is choking and the 70s Show lady kept saying “stop it” while half laughing and half crying Stellar stuff, reminded me of Lynch immediately too
Yeah, I finished watching the show a couple of days ago and I also felt the David Lynch vibe. Although when they started explaining everything, that took a little bit of that Lynch feel away for me (since Lynch likes to keep people confused), but then I understand that this is a more mainstream show and the convention requires providing the answers to the questions. Still, it was something cool and it made the show more unique (in comparison to the other MCU stuff)
I can imagine that binging this show would make that the bane of my existence, though. Seeing it once a week? All good and pump-up-ing. Awesome. Nine times in a row? ...that's stretching it some.
I laughed at first two episodes, because they had that old, simple, and so corny that it's good, kind of humor that can hit hard anyone who grow tired of lazy post-ironic memes ( and I'm not a dad for saying this )
WandaVision is: -the name of the show -the name of the "show" -a description for the show -a list of the shows protagonists in order of importance -an accurate description of the vision who appears in the show
I actually liked the Marvel intro in the beginning, made me feel like I was back in the cinema all excited to watch a Marvel movie especially after going a whole year without one and without going to the cinema. I miss going to the cinema :(
To be fair, she just got her powers I don't think it would make since for her to be a total badass and showing off her powers right of the bat. I mean, even Tony's MK I Iron Man suit was total garbage compared to its later upgrades. Or Dr. Strange, who was barely able to take on Kaecilius in his first movie is now able to stand toe to toe with Thanos wielding 4 Infinity Stones by the time Infinity War rolled around. She'll have the chance to do more amazing things soon enough.
That doesn't answer the question at all. Hayward is an awful villain because not only are his motives incomprehensible, but he is also incomprehensible as a person. In the first episode he's in, he seems like he wants to do the right thing, but is just going about it the wrong way. Then, he goes from that, to unloading an entire clip at two ten year olds. So, again, what kind of person is he? You can't say evil, because that's not a person. That's just a role, or a cliche.
@@likethemovies8991 they actually touch on his motivations in epsiode 6, but i guess i watched a different verison of the episode than other people. The reason that he's so out to get wanda and her family is because of the snap and the blip, he blames the heroes for not being able to stop thanos and save the world from an apocalypse, then he becomes even more dissapointed when he finds out those same heroes brought everyone back after the world had moved on, and everyone that was brought back didn't have to deal with the apocalypse for 5 years, and Wanda was one of those super heroes who failed to stop thanos who also didn't have to deal with the 5 year apocalypse. This isnt exactly stated, but they clearly touch on it in episode 6, he isn't just evil for the sake of being evil.
@@likethemovies8991 then again, Hayward enforces the Sokovia Accords, which Wanda and Vision both resisted. They're breaking the law. Also, Hayward wasn't dusted, so he saw the result of a super powered being causing destruction. Look at what that did to the remaining Avengers- they were willing to risk everything to change it and they lost people in doing so. I thought his motives were clear, but perhaps audiences really do need everything explained to them.
I don’t like how everyone thinks the Agatha song is about her making the hex, it doesn’t say that. It says she’s been ruining everything for Wanda all along
idk, the 'who's been pulling every evil string' line is kind of a lie cause wanda did do a lot of evil stuff to the people of westview. all agatha did was... fake pietro and killing sparky.
Who still thinks that? It was up in the air when the Agatha song happened, but then in the next episode, the show clearly shows us Wanda physically creating the hex herself
If you thought Agatha created the hex, or that they implied that, you are dumb. Sorry. But yes, she repeatedly manipulated the hex in many ways, not just a dog and Pietro.
This show was phenomenal. People forget that less than a generation ago, superhero films and TV shows were clunky, cheesy garbage without any nuance or...dare I say it...vision.
It’s a good way to give all the characters that get little time in the movies, more exposure and ways to get to know them. It’s like reading a solo series after reading an event comic.
@Booper Dooper Plus making a superhero show about people that are barely "super" Heroes good is way more requiring of good plots and good character developments. So it isnt surprising that based purely on how critically good a show is, Daredevil comes out on top. Id say it is way more challenging to make a Show like Daredevil enjoyable than a show like Wandavision, just based on the preset of one show being very serious in general and the other relatively comedic and more light hearted for the most part. There is a reason why more often than not for Superhero movies or just general more comedic spectacle based movies, there is a massive disconnect in the ratings between critics and Audiences. A movie that is at its core just not super well written or has no insane character development and so on isnt necessarily not enjoyable to watch.
@@masterslayerable which is why cosmo's opinion on falcon+WS is wrong. It could absolutely be good (though it feels much more generic "marvel" than this did)

@@unseenasian132 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, yes, but the way people deliver their opinion can really aggravate others. I completely disagree with him about the opening Marvel theme. The theme is EPIC, and I love seeing the little clips of important moments in the MCU. I'll be doing the same thing for F&TWS.
@ELI BONHAM it definitely didn't need to be a dick joke, but I think the whole pietro situation wrapped up in a satisfying way, didn't need to be overly important or multiversal.
After this show Wanda has become a lot of people’s favorite MCU character, and I think that’s great. I love what this series has done for her. It was a great exploration of grief. The finale could’ve been a bit better but I do genuinely love this show.
Damn it, Marcus. 0:50 It’s not called WandaVision because it’s about Wanda and Vision. It’s a word play. It’s called WandaVision because the universe takes place in Wanda’s world which happens to be TeleVision.
LMAO Kevin Feige already explained that WandaVision got its name because it's about Wanda & Vision and he got the idea to put the two words together after seeing the title of _BlacKkKlansmen_
"I saw the show with people who ALSO didn't laugh at the jokes" Are we talking about people who hang with you, Marcus? Are those people really enough to actually quote as a credible source for humor response?
Honestly I don't think sitcoms from 20s, 60s and so on are supposed to be funny to a modern day audience anyway i found it to be charming that they replicated the style so well and by the time the modern day sitcom came around we already knew shit was going down there was no point trying to keep up with the format
She meant that the kids are Wanda's creations and not other kids being brainwashed into being her kids but yes that's 100% the excuse they'll use to bring them back in Doctor Strange 2.
The one thing I absolutely loved from this series was Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen's performances. They absolutely nailed it. They alone made me feel for these characters
I think the humor was intentionally bad and cringey and unfunny to mimic the kinda cringey dialogue of older sitcoms, I think the point was you weren’t supposed to laugh at it. Which is strange but I think that’s what they were going for
Agreed. I love watching old sitcom shows from the 50s but they’re never funny lol the entertainment truly lies within character interactions and wandavision got that right
I feel the same way, but only for the first maybe three episodes. The humor in how jarring it was for Wanda and Vision to be in these cliché sitcom situations wore off as the themes got more modern.
My litmus tests for this kinda stuff are my dad and my girlfriend. They both really liked the finale, a lot more than the 50s and 60s episodes. They weren’t paying attention to fan theories and so I don’t think they were over-promised anything. They weren’t disappointed or feel the finale under-delivered
I like how the big retcon wasn’t that she was magic all the time, it was that every time you don’t see her in the movies she’s watching Malcolm in the Middle
to be fair. . . .in THEIR era, those shows SLAPPED. . . .the same way frat boy college humor slapped in the early 2000's, movies like that would be blown to pieces by sjw/woke twitter now.
hot take: i think the jokes in the sitcom scenes were kinda lame on purpose, i never felt like they were trying to wow the audience with humour, but emulate the kind of safe but bland jokes present in older sitcoms
Right!? I wouod start up the episode, think I was gonna get a good 40 minute episode just to find out 15 minutes of the run time is gaddamn credits! This is Disney and a 9 episode show and they could barely scrape together 30 minutes for each episode just to give us a big middle finger "please stand by"
The ship of Theseus scene was one of my favourites shit was funny and actually interesting cause it's like fuck you make a good point, nevermind we homies now
I very much enjoyed it. I wanted a show that dove into Wanda's character, and that's exactly what I got. The mystery behind this show is very intriguing and I am VERY invested. Elizabeth Olsen's acting was amazing, and Wanda serves as a good and interesting female character. Now I can't wait until Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness!
@Tekno Pathetic I can understand your point of view about it. For me however, once the mystery was solved, I was very interested in Wanda's grief and struggles. The only way they really portrayed this was when she fought Thanos in Endgame. I'm happy that they gave Wanda more character. She was one that I felt didn't get enough attention in the MCU.
I think the show would've been so much more compelling if they held off that episode that explained what's happening outside. Imagine if the first time we properly see the outside is in the halloween episode when Vision tries to leave. Then after that episode show the outside perspective and catch us up to speed. Plus, I really don't like Agnes and the whole witch plot. Or generic military man with evil vision. It just made the show feel less like it's about Wanda. The villain should've been Wanda's grief and actually revolve the story about her learning to overcome it. As we have it, the story ends up being a sorta dark phoenix knock off where she learns to control an increadible power while keeping away from bad government guys, dealing with her grief seems more like a side thing in the finale. It just felt like a huge missed opportunity.
I was kinda bored with jimmy and Darcy but Monica ended up being my second favorite character on the show. (Wanda first, Agatha third). It was really cool to see her get powers and to see her way to cope with grief (basically the main theme of this show) is helping others no matter what. She risks her life like 17 times just to help Wanda because she knows what she’s going through. Idk I just thought that between her and Wanda we see two really compelling grief narratives.
I do disagree with you about jimmy and Darcy cuz I actually really liked them (but I can see why people wouldn’t like them) but I absolutely adored Monica and I can’t wait to see her in more stuff. I’m actually excited to see Agatha in more stuff too
@Tekno Pathetic I mean kind of, but we really only have captain marvel who fits that bill in the rest of the mcu. It’s nice to see more women fill more roles that aren’t so stereotypical badass sexy spy girl or damsel in distress. I liked it but to each their own
I absolutely disagree with the “plucky side-characters” and finding out what is going on outside the Hex. That’s important stuff IMO, finding out how the world is reacting to the Hex. The side characters were fun to watch for me.
I know, like were they just NOT supposed to explain what was going on, and then do...what, exactly? Then people would complain "oh they just left shit on the table, bad writing DING!" The mystery of the earlier episodes is fine, but you can't keep doing those same tricks forever, and I thought they paced things out well so it didn't get old. The balance of Wanda dealing with her issues vs. how they're trying to solve the problem she caused worked fine for me.
I would watch a show of the three of them investigating stuff around the world. Someone made a Hex-Files/X-Files mockup poster and I would LOVE to see it happen.
It also really broke up the pace from how unfunny several of the sitcom scenes were. I almost didn't finish the show from how bored I was with the initial sitcom elements. But I really loved the Malcom in The Middle parody they did with Pietro towards the end.
It just baffles me, how they dare to did that. I can think of better ways to get rid of the character (If thats what they were aiming for) than using it for a dick joke.
I understand why they did it,, but I think the person at the door should've been a neighbour that needed help and Vision left Wanda because of their fight to do his own investigations and wrap up any questions posed in the first 5 episodes... especially about the individual townspeople introduced at the beginning. Those red herrings needed wrapping up before Agatha came along. There should've been a cameo by ATJ during Wanda's back story as well.. none of this Fietro, definitely no Evan Peters and I'm not liking the retcon that she's always been a witch.
@@twelve11 I don't think they retconed it since in age of ultron we never found out if she was a witch all her life until now. Plus i don't think it was necessary for ATJ or even Evan Peters to show up in this show.
I really loved Wanda’s therapy session featuring Vision. I didn’t really care for the government stuff that much and I would have preferred the final fight being more grounded. I will probably remember just those cute and sad moments. That is my personal opinion.
I loved this show, was disappointed that Evan Peters probably won't continue the role in future projects and that Dr Strange didn't make an appearance. Two of the main things I was hoping for out of the show.
But why? Why would you even expect this? Just enjoy shows/movies for what they are instead of shoving your own preconceived predictions onto it then getting disappointed when they don't do exactly what you were expecting.
if you want a little bit of hope, not saying that this is true but a popular theory is that the person that jimmy woo mentioned as the person in witness protection might have been quicksilver after being somehow brought into the marvel universe and when needed to create a new identity he chose ralph bohner, which is fitting to the character. But we’ll see.
Whats even more impressive is that the show kinda lived up to it. Each episode felt like movie quality. Especially the final episode fight scenes which, for better or worse, certainly felt like watching an mcu movie
I love the Captain America films and even I am iffy about the show so far, looks like the type of generic action film that comes and goes each year as opposed to the Russos' Captain America films which were action films with an philisophical ideas underlying it all.
It'll probably be quite a bit like Hobbs and Shaw really, just good stupid fun. Idk why everyone seems to want any more than that from these movies and shows
"agatha did it but she didnt do it" you do realize that they literally show what she had done in the beginning of the episode... she was apart of all the weird things that were happening in the hex... like how people were being frozen, pedro showing up, the dog dying, etc.... they literally tell you what she was doing the entire time... she was behind all the nonsense...
I mean, kind of. Let's not act like the show wasn't ultimately sort of fuzzy with how that worked. I eventually settled on "Agatha wasn't behind it all but she was the force messing things up and trying to confuse Wanda in order to break her"
Surprised you didn't have more interest in Monica. Honestly she's surprisingly become instantly a very great character imo and it seems a lot of people are loving her already.
@@JohnathanJWells I personally don't see any problem with that, it is a superhero property after all lol. I like her because she's dedicated to what she believes in, and takes the time to be empathetic to Wanda, giving her the benefit of the doubt and believing in her when almost no one else does.
Agreed. Infinity War made me give a shit. The acting between those two is really good in general but that scene is still one of my favourites in the MCU.
It came out of nowhere in the movies. They hung out in Civil War, then in Infinity War they were in love and seeing each other even though the Avengers were divided.
@@Sener They didnt just hang out in civil war, they were clearly flirting. Add a space of 2 years together to that, and a relationship is fully believable.
The sitcoms aren't supposed to be funny intentionally. They're just replicating the devices and kinds of situations that actual sitcoms use for humor. Like nobody is going to laugh at "My husband and his indestructible head!" and they know that. The show wants us to know that its fake and making the sitcoms actually funny would take away from that effect. Basically the sitcom parts aren't trying to be funny, they're trying to be authentic to the genre at the time, so saying that them not being funny is a downside is like saying what the show is trying to do in those parts (replicate sitcom tropes with the characters) is a downside. Edit: I should reclarify, I'm not saying you shouldn't find it funny, everybody has their own senses of humor! I'm just saying that they're not intending to be funny in the ways that movies and tv usually try to, the show is just emulating tropes. :)
“the reason it spent ten minutes each episode making jokes that don’t add anything to the plot was because it was intentionally trying to be unfunny!!” right
I personally enjoyed the name of the show, despite it being mainly about Wanda, because it was wanda’s vision for how her ideal life would have been, it’s wandavision as in television through the shows, and it’s about Wanda and vision. I thought it was cool the title had layers to it
I love how the show disguises itself as a sitcom but underneath its a psychological thriller with themes of existentialism and possibly cosmic horror. We watch Wanda go through a mental breakdown while at the same time controlling an entire town into believing what she wants them to
1:33 "I think this is the only MCU story that has a well written romance" I thought Peter and Michelle had a very cute romance in Far from Home, especially in comparison to most depictions of teen romance, though that may have been more because of the acting than the writing.
Very carried by Tom & Zendaya being friends irl as well as being very talented actors. It feels like we skipped an entire movie of those 2 becoming attracted to each other.
@@peanutgallery4 Ugh. It pains me knowing those characters (along with the rest) will never get their shine because they were the best Marvel/Superhero TV show for like 3-4 years straight and most people never even watched it, smh.

I completely disagree with him about the opening Marvel theme. The theme is EPIC, and I love seeing the little clips of important moments in the MCU. After this show Wanda has become a lot of people’s favorite MCU character, and I think that’s great. I love what this series has done for her. It was a great exploration of grief. The finale could’ve been a bit better but I do genuinely love this show.
Yeah me too but all the shows has great potential
I've ALWAYS loved her, since day one, my question was what they would do with her, and now i got my answers
Damn it, Marcus. 0:50 It’s not called WandaVision because it’s about Wanda and Vision. It’s a word play. It’s called WandaVision because the universe takes place in Wanda’s world which happens to be TeleVision.
It’s actually both; that’s what makes it clever
Ayes wanda'svision
Technically, Wanda's (In-Hex) name is Wanda Vision.
The two protagonists. Wanda is very important, then Vision.
I always thought it was Wanda’s last name. She says ‘vision residence,’ so I thought that was her name, Wanda Vision.
LMAO Kevin Feige already explained that WandaVision got its name because it's about Wanda & Vision and he got the idea to put the two words together after seeing the title of _BlacKkKlansmen_

Honestly I don't think sitcoms from 20s, 60s and so on are supposed to be funny to a modern day audience anyway i found it to be charming that they replicated the style so well and by the time the modern day sitcom came around we already knew shit was going down there was no point trying to keep up with the format
yeah i literally was wondering the same thing...
That Marvel logo in the beginning really makes you feel like you’re watching a Marvel thing.
The Kids are real, only that Wanda connected their existences with The Hex. That's The flaws on The original spell Agatha was saying she repair.
The kids were 100% real in the sense that Monica meant - they weren't somebody else's kids who were "cast" as Wanda's.
She meant that the kids are Wanda's creations and not other kids being brainwashed into being her kids but yes that's 100% the excuse they'll use to bring them back in Doctor Strange 2.
The surreal horror aspects of the Sitcom scenes was easily my favorite part of the series
Which is strange but I think that’s what they were going for
I get the your statement in episode 1 and 2 but I don’t think it’s mimicking it anymore. I think it genuinely tries to be funny but fails completely.
Agreed. I love watching old sitcom shows from the 50s but they’re never funny lol the entertainment truly lies within character interactions and wandavision got that right
Right cuz I never found much humor in sitcoms either so I thought they nailed it tbh
I feel the same way, but only for the first maybe three episodes. The humor in how jarring it was for Wanda and Vision to be in these cliché sitcom situations wore off as the themes got more modern.
Is it weird I still found some of it funny? Like, I don’t know how but I found it entertaining in some ways
I actually said “True!” Out loud when Marcus said that we don’t need the whole marvel intro for every episode Lmao

@Tekno Pathetic it wasn't about the mystery, thinking it was about thr mystery was more an issue with the show's marketing than the show itself

Also two actually great female characters that aren’t shoehorned in or tropes or inserts for a male counterpart. Win-win.
Then people would complain "oh they just left shit on the table, bad writing DING!"
The mystery of the earlier episodes is fine, but you can't keep doing those same tricks forever, and I thought they paced things out well so it didn't get old. The balance of Wanda dealing with her issues vs. how they're trying to solve the problem she caused worked fine for me.
i want to see more of Woo's close up magic
I would watch a show of the three of them investigating stuff around the world. Someone made a Hex-Files/X-Files mockup poster and I would LOVE to see it happen.
It also really broke up the pace from how unfunny several of the sitcom scenes were. I almost didn't finish the show from how bored I was with the initial sitcom elements. But I really loved the Malcom in The Middle parody they did with Pietro towards the end.
The thing I was most disappointed about was how they handled Quickslilver
To be honest I don’t really mind it because you don’t need quicksilver to make a great show.

@@Ragnadave It can be a troll for marvel or too many people making fan Theories.
Apart from the Evan Peters/Ralph Bohner twist I thought this was nearly perfect and they made me like Wanda and Vision a lot more.

I’m surprised he didn’t talk about those long ass credits
I really loved Wanda’s therapy session featuring Vision. I didn’t really care for the government stuff that much and I would have preferred the final fight being more grounded. I will probably remember just those cute and sad moments. That is my personal opinion.

My thoughts exactly
You don't know anything to know if he will or won't

Did you just put an ad in the middle of the word "disjointed"? Genius if so.
I have no idea how he didn’t catch that, lol. One of the elements of a sitcom is that somebody makes and unfunny joke, and the laugh track plays.
