I wonder if some setups the game gives you are actually beatable. Definitely was stuck with just movement nodes unable to get attacks or had tons of blue ones while the game decided to have one of those 2HP enemies.
That said, I still think it's a very cool game. 3 wins is about how many you need to prove that you get how to deal with every enemy while improvising, but I doubt cherry will be possible for me

Ha ha! I guess they did warn you about the energy cubes. That was pretty unfair. At least it happened on job 1. Learning about that possibility on job 2+ would really sting. I guess this game has a little bit more in common with Gloomhaven than I thought. Heh. Look on the bright side - you've saved anyone who watches this from the same fate.
About the situation where you created another egg instead of destroying any: I think attacks that can shoot through multiple targets hit them in order from closest to furthest. That would explain what happened there. First it hits the anti energy, turning it into an egg, then hits the bug. If the order was reversed, like if you were shooting from the opposite side, then your plan would have worked, if I understand correctly.
I assume nothing, or assume the worst. Basing strategy on an assumption of something that would benefit you can be fatal in a delicate situation. Assuming the worst makes you overestimate the danger, at least. Ideally if I'm ever unsure of a mechanic, I either read the rules again in a board game, or experiment in a computer game. Sorry if this is obvious or patronizing. I don't mean it to be. I just like to be thorough with my thought process.
Can you tell I'm the rules lawyer of my play group? Heheh.

@@BigSimple lol That goes against my instincts, but I absolutely understand how you feel.
I once overlooked a rule in Jaws of the Lion, because otherwise, I would have let down and wasted my friends' time, since I'd made a critical misplay, causing us all to fail at the last moment. It would've been my fault, and they didn't deserve that.
I am however, when striving for an experience, willing to torment myself as much as is necessary! Heheh!
