For $599, it's tough to find a laptop that outperforms this one overall, especially considering the GPU. You might find cheaper models, but they’ll likely compromise on either:
    Graphics (only integrated GPUs).
Performance (U-series processors or slower RAM).
Definitely upgrade the RAM. I just bought this one from Amazon for $26: Crucial RAM 8GB DDR5 5600MHz (or 5200MHz or 4800MHz) Laptop Memory CT8G56C46S5.

Its not $600, its $799, and discounted its $599. With tax youre paying almost $1000 at msrp and almost $800 with a discount. For the same price you can literally build a desktop with RTX. Gaming laptops are always a scam because you are paying for half the power of a desktop at the same price as one. If all you wanna do is play warzone or minecraft just get an HP or Acer office laptop with a later i5 or i3 and upgrade the ram. It will cost like $400 but with the same performance. If you actually want a true gaming laptop you can just go ahead and forget about the word "budget" and expect to pay like $2500.

I just completed my RAM upgrade a few minutes ago. Here are my thoughts:
    1) There's no way I could've unhinged the plastic prongs without my new prying tool. I also had used the mini screwdriver to hold each corner up to be sure they wouldn't click back into place, but I was just nervous. I suggest getting the prying tool rather than the mini guitar pick ones because the leverage is so much better and it's around the same price as the 10 packs of picks.
    2) When inputting the RAM sticks, insert at a diagonal and gently push down until it clicks into place. I got two 16 GB sticks to be sure 100% they are compatible (anyone want my extra stick from the build lol). I didn't insert the second one at a diagonal before pushing down, so it didn't click into place. Removing and reinserting was a hassle.
    3) Unless you are also replacing the SSD, there's no setup once you turn it on.
I'm pretty happy with my purchase, I'll be using this for college so I'm glad everything worked out. I choose 32 GB of RAM to be 100% sure there's no issues in the future, but I don't see the need to increase HD space with cloud storage. I'll probably only play a few games at a time on here anyway, so I don't mind reinstalling games.

friendly reminder that the performance hit using single channel memory on ddr5 is minimal compared to ddr4 due to increased bandwidth of ddr5. problems seen in this video are almost certainly just capacity related, not single vs dual channel. a single 16gb stick of ddr5 should have very similar performance as two 8gb sticks of similar speed, where with ddr4 you might very well see a bigger hit to framerate using single channel config - especially with those 1% lows.

DDR5 divides its bandwidth between 2 channels on individual memory sticks. A single stick of DDR5 is dual channel. 2 sticks of DDR5 is a quad channel configuration. So I agree, the issue is most likely capacity and not as much a memory bandwidth issue.

HP charges a fortune for RAM GB upgrades, they don't care what you or anyone else recommends. One, 512 GB drive on a gaming laptop is comical, Warzone is around a 175GB download. 3 or 4 games and your maxed out. It's not a terrible price. New laptops CPU's are about to be released. These will become less sought after soon.

It's pretty simple actually, before doing anything, keep a bootable operating system ready ( pendrive ) , Remove the back panel, swap the SSD , close the back panel, install the pendrive , click the boot button, immediately spam click F9 , you should see it asking to select boot device, select the pendrive, click enter , tats all , install the windows . ( P.S. I would recommend having an internet connection via LAN would be really helpful since you won't have wifi drivers installed, incase you don't have access to LAN, just use your mobiles internet with USB tethering, or you can have wifi drivers downloaded into a pendrive, whichever you prefer , once your PC is connected to internet, you won't have any driver issues since it will download and install everything automatically)

I've basically given up suggesting people buy laptops if they don't have 16GB of RAM if they intend to do any gaming. Purely because it's getting to where SOME games struggle without it. Even if the laptop CAN be upgraded, a lot of people just aren't willing to deal with it. Personally, this would 100% be a laptop I would grab for personal use because I don't mind getting in and doing an upgrade. The absolute no go for me though is the ram being soldered to the board and you can't upgrade it. ESPECIALLY if it's supposed to be a gaming machine, but any machine really. I'm not out to buy a system that will turn into a paperweight within the next 2 years. And in many cases 8GB of RAM is the bare minimum I think you can use, but it only JUST holds up to me.

@@Fallenn Yea. I'm not saying that THIS laptop has soldered RAM, only that it BEING soldered has become an instant no buy for me. Because it's getting harder and harder for laptops to maintain their usability, but being able to upgrade RAM is one thing that CAN help to keep them usable as their hardware starts to age.
If you see in the middle of my comment I specifically say that I'm okay opening a laptop to upgrade it, so this WOULD be a laptop I would pick up because I can get in and do so.

My i7-12700 64GB RAM, 4070 Ti Super at 1440p High settings hits 165 Hz with a few dips to 162ish on rare occasions. It's a very benchmark-able game. You said in a recent video you've never played Crysis, I've played them all. 2 and 3 are better than the original but 1 was a lot of fun. You can become invisible for brief periods, enable armor and super strength for brief periods, you play as a cyborg and become stronger throughout the game. I would buy Crysis 4,5 and 6. You don't race around and fire like mad,try that and you will usually die. You have to think things out, you lower your shield, see weapons, ammo, enemies, destinations through obstacles at great distances. You tag them and see them with the shield raised. It's a unique and fun game, like no other I've played. When you play using veteran or higher difficulty settings, it's can be very challenging to beat levels. To be honest, the franchise ruined most FPS games for me.
