@cadon_slayer4285 Not even close. No one said buying used or 2nd hand. There's audience voting instead of just testing mostly. It's mainly based on quality for the amount of money given, who knows how much. They need either time OR money though. And this is one of those times where LTT could make use of companies that do short-term contracts between LTT and volunteer workers they vet (the company does all the finance, tax, contract writing, etc. to your specifications), and have a dedicated employee for that, or people who can cover for whoever is working with the external programs (technically this is more of a CEO thing I guess, though I don't know what his workload is like otherwise) and have outside contestants if they don't want to be limited by the workloads current employees have. Otherwise, you get a lot of these things being very hasty and having major 'what even was the point?', in this case, they'd barely get together monitors and PCs, when the vision is for an ENTIRE themed setup for gaming that someone would have in their room and show off, not 'look at my PC I cobbled together from third world e-waste'. 😅

Stumbled across this absurd reality recently while looking at CPU coolers, same model, only difference being RGB vs no RGB. The latter was more expensive.
RGB adjacent... I was literally unable to find a reasonable case without a glass side panel in my area in a pinch. They are very rare. 6:03 Wow, that's a cool set of classic speakers. Recognized them immediately as a pair of B&W DM620i speakers from the early 90s (I have the floorstanding bigger brother DM630i that I would still be using today if not for lack of space in my apartment). They still look great 30 years later, and I bet they sound excellent as well.
Yeah, agreeing with Luke. Once I got a second monitor in 2017, it was hard to ever go back to just using one. Being able to have a game on one monitor and a web browser / chat windows / media player on the other is super useful.
I recently went 3 monitors and I'll never go back to anything less. But I'll never watch something else while gaming, that's just too ADHD for me. I use all three as a "we have an ultrawide at home"-kind of setup instead.
For the longest time I would have agreed but having switched to a single monitor setup for a while now I can definitely see the appeal for some people. I'll probably go back to a dual setup again when I can as I like the extra flexibility. Given the choice between a single really good monitor and two okay but not as good monitors I'd take the single monitor. The roasting of people who choose to use a single monitor is IMO a lack of understanding.
Since switching to a dual monitor arm with a single monitor and my laptop next to it I've actually noticed that I've started using the second monitor much less. The laptop's screen is actually better than the monitor, but I actually only really use it for apps like davinci resolve that really make use of that extra screen space. I just don't do lots of things at once on my computer
Don't know how it is in Canada. but here in the USA, a unfinished space, like the garage in the second to last setup, or a basement don't count towards living spaces, and so aren't taxed. so buddy should totally not paint his walls XD
@@peterparker-zy9oe An unfinished basement or garage typically does not count towards the livable square footage of your house and thus influences both market value and assessed value. The assessed value is what your property taxes are based on.
24:04 - This is an amazing idea for people with limited space. Dude build his setup in the closet of the room! I love this and will be rebuilding my setup in the closet of my office this weekend.
I recognized Millie immediately. Based on the username that posted it, they’re likely attempting to pass Trent’s hard work and craftsmanship off as their own.
Linus: "What's with the trend of people having clocks under their monitors?" Me: *Looks at my clock under my monitor having not known this was a trend at all it's just hella useful*
Agree. I have two dispaly, though the way I game I can really see the time on the second monitor. I'm gonna buy an amazon display clock with USB port. I just need to double check how that will works when computer is off.
Been watching these kind of videos since I was a broke child, seeing these makes me feel so grateful to have an actual desk, chair, decent monitor, xl mousepad, and mid grade mouse now. Also hey printers can be used for non boomer uses, shipping things being the main one.
14:17 back in college, I used a big ass box for a coffee table. My tv was too big to fit the little “side table” type thing we had, so I used the box the tv came in to make the table top “bigger”. Worked great. Needless to say, “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. We kept our box coffee table and tv box table top for over a year.
5:45 I can relate to this. After being 1 turn from winning, 3 games in a row, and being beaten by the person before me in the turn order, I no longer play Catan.
10:52 - are you not all familiar with those Creative Pebble speakers? I was under the impression those are actually pretty slick for their price, MORE than reasonable for 90% of set ups.
10:24 yeah, I kinda agree. I just started using a second monitor with my laptop and it's actually really sweet. Definitely will use the same one when I build my desktop.
Ever since I became computer literate, that "Light Side" dev setup is the most immaculate setup I have ever seen in my entire life. the vibe its giving is soo peaceful almost the same as when you walk into a cathedral.
hey linus, here's a neat use of a monitor lamp! If you're not using your pc, but you want to use your desk for some writing or drawing, just turn on the monitor lamp! It doesn't use any space, and lights up things at a good angle, no weird hand shadows from a lamp in the corner while you draw, just light from above!
10:24 funnily enough, I went from 2 24'' monitors to a single 34'' ultrawide monitor recently and so far I don't miss the second monitor. I feel like if I need to multitask, the ultrawide gives me enough space for multiple windows. If I'm gaming, It helps me focus and not be enticed to have a video playing on the background all the time.
@21:40: Linus, roasting a desk for it's literal purpose, providing a space to put things down on. (And then, presumably, removing it, instead eternally gathering random crap like junk mail.)
Ya, I like having empty desk space for stuff. Worse, imo, is that he keeps "roasting" for not allocating funds. I bought a $200 keyboard and a $120 mouse with other crappy parts bcuz I upgraded them later. I don't want 10 mediocre purchases. I want 2 quality items and I'll upgrade the crappy 8 items later. Most of my setup is quality stuff now.
@@blad... I can kind of see their point though. I just recently upgraded my desk to something bigger and to get the computer off of the cardboard I had it on, on the floor. Swapping everything around, building the new desk, and cable managing everything took way longer than I would've liked it too. Still worth it though. Finding an actual desk is fairly cheap nowadays too, especially if your willing to buy used.
@@Dijitz23 It's way too subjective for them to try and tell people what to do. Maybe you'd rather have a nice big desk and a crappy GPU. I, personally, rather update my desk much later than other components. In fact, if it wasn't for my significant other buying me a desk as a gift, I'd still have a crappy one and I only need about three more components to have a quality setup (second monitor is crap, speakers are crap, and no monitor arms)
@@blad... You act like a decent desk is $500 or more. You could find a decent desk for like $50 and possibly less. Even the one I got now was only $160 new from amazon. If you can afford a really good gpu, it aint really that much of a stretch to assume you could afford a basic simple desk. If you can't afford that then maybe, just maybe you shouldn't be buying high-end components and really take a look at your financials. Hell a friend of mine found a really nice computer desk with 3 levels of shelves for $20 just looking on facebook marketplace. It's just weird your acting like a desk is expensive.
10:40 Having two monitors, especially for gaming is really convenient, especially if you're doing VC with friends while gaming or if you're streaming and want the chat to be more accessible
More videos like this please. Seeing so many different setups gives you ideas. I've never heard of headphone amps until I saw this video! You already have done one video of decluttering one persons bedroom for better workspace, that I saw at least. But more of those would be cool too, I think clutter and space is one of the areas most people face and battle with. So ideas in those areas would be welcomed too. What about inspiring people do declutter themselves and they send in pics before and after. You guys pick the winner and runners up. At least this way heaps of people inspired clean up their clutter, at least once. You probably could do a video about which of those before were staged/fake too. I personally would like to see how clever people can get with making use of space without being too cluttered. Some people have high ceilings. I wonder if there has been clever solutions of using that vertical space. Another episode idea there, maybe.
That's me :) Switchfoot is my favorite band and thankfully they've signed some albums (most recent one being The Beautiful Letdown this summer) Commenting on an alt account to not dox my reddit account lol.
Windows is still way too janky with two monitors. Lots of games don’t work properly minimized, some refuse to let go of the cursor. The workflow while gaming is never seamless, it sucks. Either a second device, like a tablet, or just single monitor for me.
The workbench is the "Winner" hands down! I only worry about dust collection and case filters. Any cutting, but metal especially feels like a nightmare scenario. My next place will be void of guest space, so I can have more tools.
I almost threw up laughing when Elijah started assigning different brain rot content to each of the first ultimate battle station’s monitors. Now I can’t stop hiccuping, and I haven’t had hiccups in years.
27:02 i miss LANs so much man, everyone i use to game with as a child went their separate ways in life. I think i'm the only one that never had kids, making me the one who can afford decent computers. I still kinda lug mine around but i'm disabled and my pc weighs about 50-60 lbs without the glass lol. the last REAL lan we had was when Destiny 2 originally launched and we all camped out in my cousins living room with our playstations, drinking liqour, leveling up our fireteams and the day the leviathan raid launched it was some of the most fun I have had in recent memory. We sort of did the same thing for borderlands 3 but it was over discord and it just didn't have the same vibe. I would do a SFF build if LANs came back in popularity in my area; i don't know how i would fit a 7900xtx in a SFF case but i'm sure i could figure something out hahaha [
14:04 it looks like buddy just moved into that house and the furniture hadn't arrived yet. I mean, as if they've just taken possession of the house, and want to game. Had to buy a lawn mover for the new place and saw the opportunity with the box. Especially if you're working full time, it can take months to get unpacked; with my adhd butt it took me over 8 months to finally unpack an set up my one bedroom apartment.
10:00 going from 1 monitor to 2 really was such a life changing difference. I remember games crashing and it would just lock up my whole PC, and I would just have to restart. That's my main benefit for having a second monitor, the other little things like having Spotify, a baseball game, or other miscellaneous windows open on the side is just a plus
10:24 It really depends, a second monitor is basically useless if you don't need it to work or stream. I've went back to one and had absolutely no issues

Yo monitor lamps are pretty sick. 1. Have a deep desk. 2. Have a massive monitor >32". 3. You can turn of the lamp when you are gaming. 4. You can use the desk as a work space with non-eyestraining lighting.
I voluntarily went from 2 monitors to only 1 after 3 years of dual monitor setup. It looks cleaner and its honestly nice to only have one monitor with what you're doing on it. Sue me Luke.

Recently, a little too many react to user stuff. Don’t get me wrong, it is entertaining content but it’s not quality content that teaches about tech in a fun way, which is kinda why I subscribe and watch. 🤷🏻♂
Reaction videos are the lowest form of content on TH-cam and I typically block all channels that regularly post them. Only reason I am still subscribed to LTT is I am a longtime viewer and like a lot of their other videos. Wish they would create a separate LTT Reacts channel or something.
it is still so freaking stupid. You want light on your desk? why not get a normal light like anyone else which DOESN'T make the screen look horrible? Shining brightnlight at a very low angle onto your matt screen is just a horrible idea
@@MHWGamer I dont know where the idea started, but from what i know, Originally the purpose of monitor lights is to have a dark room and light that ONLY shines on the Desk. 12:30 I most certainly have been there before. In 2011 I was stationed at Minot AFB North Dakota and the town of Minot flooded. My apartment with my gaming PC was on the second floor of our apartment the water got up to about the ceiling of the first floor I heard, so my PC survived, but I had to spend weeks living on base with my supervisor before I could go back and get my stuff. I was playing WoW sitting on his living room floor and sleeping on a blow-up mattress. Also at 27:00 SOME PICTURE!? Come on it's the cover art for Blade Runner! :O
I literally came to this video right after watching the guy with the van setup, had never even heard of his channel just happened to come across it and watched one video before I saw this.
Did not expect to see my favorite band pop up on this channel lol. I have quite a few of their merchs. The album arts spaced across like that is a vibe that I might copy a little bit (most of my decor is literally displates, books, an old working ps2, and my first graphic card).
At 4:36 I sent a DM to this person wondering if it was ai generated, and they admitted it was, however originally they said it was their husband who was a 'passionate photgrapher' and they were interested in setups and this person tried to convince me that it was real and shot on a Nikon Z6 with a 24-120mm lens, however I then got them to admit it was ai generated after showing a lot of suspicion
I’m pretty sure they just said it to shut you up, there’s just no way this is AI generated - the phone is an actual phone with a perfect logo, ai usually messes this up - there’s this nice imperfect stitchline on the deskpad, ai would make that look more perfect - the text behind the monitor is an actual readable thing, ai messes this up so easily - all shadowing and lighting is correct - the aio watercooler on the cpu is not only VERY new, but also very special. It allows for these cool 3d effects, which you can see displayed here too. No way ai generated that correctly. Also notice the text on it is readable and makes sense - all icons in the windows dock look correct.
Also, just look at his other posts. There’s no way ai generates a perfect replication from another angle. A render, i would understand, but definitely not ai
@@DaRealMaus yeah the comments in her posts said render and ai, i asked both and she said ai, she mat=y have meant render, and no she did not try and shut me up as she was further trying to steer the conversation
And sometimes you can even talk to your IT department, because they can have too much of older monitors they had as spares or "just in case" that went "obsolete" when they upgraded the company's fleet, or if they "loaned" them to remote workers for the pandemic.
I haven't used a second monitor since I shifted my PC to the living room 10 years ago. I do miss having one, tho. Once you have a dual setup, it's hard to go back.
Waste of electricity, and outputting too much unnecessary LEDs. I don't need to use multiple monitors, and technically already have multiple monitors due to laptop being hooked up. Only need to focus on a few tasks at a time. Can snap window split, alt tab, or use multiple Windows Desktop groups to organize all on one monitor.
The only legitimate use I can see with dual monitors is if you're a serious engineer of some kind or you need to have your stream chat somewhere besides your main monitor. Everything else is just a skill issue with window/desktop management. git gud
Pro tip for portable setups: Get yourself a folding desk from home depot. It folds the sides in, and the top down, but it's large enough that I can comfortably fit a tournament-size keyboard, a mouse, and a dual monitor stand on it.

19:35 the "Fairly tall keyboard" looks like it might be made out of Lego, which is awesome.
Word!

I’m pretty sure they just said it to shut you up, there’s just no way this is AI generated
- the phone is an actual phone with a perfect logo, ai usually messes this up
- there’s this nice imperfect stitchline on the deskpad, ai would make that look more perfect
- the text behind the monitor is an actual readable thing, ai messes this up so easily
- all shadowing and lighting is correct
- the aio watercooler on the cpu is not only VERY new, but also very special. It allows for these cool 3d effects, which you can see displayed here too. No way ai generated that correctly. Also notice the text on it is readable and makes sense
- all icons in the windows dock look correct.

Luke is right, there is no excuse to not have a 2nd monitor.
Used monitors are like $20 at goodwill these days.
My excuse is "I don't want one"
Waste of electricity, and outputting too much unnecessary LEDs. I don't need to use multiple monitors, and technically already have multiple monitors due to laptop being hooked up.
Only need to focus on a few tasks at a time. Can snap window split, alt tab, or use multiple Windows Desktop groups to organize all on one monitor.
The only legitimate use I can see with dual monitors is if you're a serious engineer of some kind or you need to have your stream chat somewhere besides your main monitor. Everything else is just a skill issue with window/desktop management. git gud
The last LAN party at 27:10, the mousepad - it's the movie poster for Blade Runner.
Pro tip for portable setups: Get yourself a folding desk from home depot. It folds the sides in, and the top down, but it's large enough that I can comfortably fit a tournament-size keyboard, a mouse, and a dual monitor stand on it.
