@@mattcarter420I’ve seen someone fire off a round after removing the mag and racking the bolt multiple times. The bullet nor the bolt ever went into full battery so the round was stuck in the chamber and never extracted. The guy never visually checked the chamber to check it was empty but he always pointed it in a safe direction. He locked the bolt to the rear, hit the bolt release which had enough force to actually seat the round, he pulled the trigger(while pointing in a safe direction) and the gun went off. Everyone was shook, he learned his lesson, but no one got hurt. That’s why you should always point a gun in a safe direction, 99.99999% of the time, it’ll be empty, but when that 0.00001% chance happens, you’ll be happy you practiced proper firearm safety. Don’t be a smart ass.
I have my LTC for several years now but all the gun safety stuff you can find very easy but the main thing is any place in Texas anyway is that if you are ask/ told to leave just leave, put the handgun in a safe place then go back in if you need. Do not argue while carrying!
I always look through the barrel and hold it up to the light. To make sure nothing has gotten into the barrel. Not a clear thing more of a make sure nothing is going to make my gun explode in my hand

for the most part. There’s only one practical place to put it and that’s in reach of the thumb. Some handguns allow you to switch which side the mag release is on to accommodate left handed shooters.
And I mean as in something that is not a semi automatic cause I know of someone who had a ball cap revolver and the career cop didn’t know how to “clear it”
soft metal wire brush will dislodge buildups. Follow it with a bore cleaner soaked cloth to clean the loose debris. I like to follow it with a dry cloth to remove excess cleaner.

Highly recommend a hunter safety course or firearms course. Yes it is our right, but I would encourage learning about them first.
Go to some classes. Bring some buddies with you to a gun range. Great place to start.
