    AIWB seems to be all well and good for those with a flat belly, but I find that my slightly larger belly makes it more difficult to find a comfortable AIWB position. Seems it's the holster jabbing my groin which turns me more toward carrying at 3:30 - 4:30 position

    • @tenicorusa
      @tenicorusa  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Body type is definitely a big part of carry position. That's why it's so important to wear your holster without clips around the house and experiment to find the most comfortable and concealable position.

    I seen comments on the cost of tenicor products but they seem to be right there for good holsters. I just picked up the velo5 for my PDP and the zero belt. I have a slew of holsters that work but not like the Tenicor. The fit on the velo 5 will make everyday carry doable without undue notice of what I’m packing.

    Been struggling with IWB for more than 2 years now, listened to friends who told me to get a kydex like the ones they are using and to always go appendix. Being new to this I didn't realize that they have different guns, bigger body than I have, so in the end, it really didn't work out. Bought my 3rd holster and just now that I tried to tinker with it experiment a bit, found out that 2o'clock is the best position for me. PLUS!! This video that you just posted helped me a lot to refine it more so I can get better results. I know I still have a long way to go, but having subscribed to your channel gave me more access to knowledge and confidence that I can use to do better in this lifestyle.

      @@tenicorusa uh huh your T shirt goes all the way to your bo-hole and oyu've used this in ccw leatherslap matches, and drawn on men a dozen times? I have done those things, been in the top 10% at world level IPSC combat pistol championships, and I switched to a velcroe-in kydex front pants pocket rig. "Hand in pocket" start is twice as fast as any ccw belt rig, under a shirt. and the gun and rig looks just like a wallet in my pocket. The so called' hook designed into such pockets let the rig come out of my pocket every third draw, so I added the velcro . I had a seamstress enlarge the mouths of the pockets, cause I added a speed lever to the P938's thumb safety and I use the "high-thumb" grip. I can react to the timer's beep, draw to a retention position, one handed point shot and hit the chest at 5-6 ft, in .55 second. I can draw to an eye-level, 2-handed stand, and reliably hit the chest at 10 ft, all in .75 second. I side step as I do this, which less me beat the drop.

      @@SonnyCrocket-p6hYou have a great setup with a lot of experience and skill to back up your EDC choices, but let's make sure we're being transparent about the limitations and capabilities of that method.
      To pocket carry safely and responsibly, you have to be very mindful about your wardrobe, as not all pockets will fit a gun, not all pockets that will fit will allow for a smooth draw with a fisted grip, not all pockets that will allow that are sturdy enough to support thousands of practice reps without anything tearing, and not all pockets that will allow that are unobtrusive enough to allow repeatable success with gross motor functions in a high adrenaline situation without any risk of negligent discharge into your own leg.
      Even once you've filtered out all unsuitable wardrobe options, you STILL have to modify every single lower body garment you intend on carrying with if you want to do so safely with a secured pocket holster.
      And even once you've successfully seen through to that level of commitment in making pocket carry work, you will still find yourself limited exclusively to micro compact firearms with very low ammo capacity, very limited caliber, and very short barrels.
      Accurate shots with a pocket carry micro compact in a terrifying ccw defense situation, the inexperienced shooter does not make.
      TL;DR: Don't pocket carry unless you're ready to train your ass off and tolerate a severely restricted wardrobe that'll still have to be modified to fit a severely limited size and variety of handguns.
      But hey, if you can do all that you'll be fast as hell with it.

      Great for comfort and indiscriminate concealed carry. If that works for you, glad to hear it. Anyone worth listening to will tell you that the best setup is the one that's comfortable enough to keep using. Having the perfect tactical practical carry setup does nobody any good if it's such a pain they never use it.
      But where leather holsters are concerned, do be aware of the downsides, namely; awful retention. It is at best sloppy and at worst actively dangerous to go anywhere in any kind of hurry with a one size fits all leather holster that has no fitment or retention features.

    Okay, maybe I am missing something, but how on earth is this supposed to work? You have detached the belt connection, so the holster is just held up by pressure from the belt or waistband and the friction of the body or materials it is held against. So if you are moving around a bunch, wont it just slip around and potentially fall down or out of your pants?

    After buying a pile of appendix holsters for several carry guns I learned something. Don't appendix carry. If you're right handed carry at 3:00 & if you're left-handed carry at 9:00. Now you can sit or stand & your gun & holster doesn't stick into your leg or belly & it's not aimed at your junk.

    • @cameronrichner3108
      @cameronrichner3108 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If that works for you, great. Glad the pros of that carry position outweighed the cons for you. That said, let's be frank about what the cons are.
      Carrying at 3 or 9 is awful for the "concealed" part of concealed carry with any firearm that isn't a slimline sub/micro compact, and especially so if you're a thinner man or woman. The frontal waistline silhouette is a very identifiable vertical plane on the human body, and shirts naturally drape straight down parallel to that plane in a way that is noticably disrupted by a gun sticking off of your side. It is also extremely uncomfortable to have a kydex holster pressed directly against that bone if you have any decent tension in your belt whatsoever.
      Your draw speed is also significantly slower and less consistent due to the increased difficulty in performing a garment clear on the far opposite side of your weak hand.
      Put all that together and you're limited to very small guns with very limited ammo in leather holsters with poor retention if you want to have any success with that carry position. Appendix allows much greater concealment of much larger firearms with much greater comfort in most positions, so long as you take the time to properly scrutinize your gun, holster, belt & wardrobe, and concealment depth and angle.

    Here’s my advice… Start with a firearm that’s actually made for concealed carry. If you don’t think a small, single-stack 9mm offers enough fire power, try something with a higher capacity such as a the Sig P365 or a similar firearm (there are plenty on the market now). Secondly, try a leather OWB pancake holster.

      Before taking this advice, I would caution any new gun owners that you need to be very particular about what you want out of a leather holster. In general they are not very good at retaining a firearm during any moderate activity level. Heavy guns, guns with thick frames/grips, and guns with short barrels all struggle with particularly awful retention in this setup unless the holster has some retention features, such as a trigger guard clip or retention strap.
      My advice to enhance what this comment offers would be to try and find a hybrid holster or local holster maker. It's not the most common or easy thing to do, but a leather backed kydex shell will offer you both comfort and secure retention of your gun.

      Before repeating after this guy, ensure that your gun has a manual safety, a double action or double/single action hammer WITH a decocker, OR a single action hammer WITH a safety that locks the hammer and sear, such as on 1911s.
      If none of these things are true for your firearm, DO NOT pocket carry. NO exceptions. Trust me, you DON'T want to be that guy, it makes for an embarrassing emergency room trip.

The previous comment ..If you are interested in trying out this sort of holster mod…If you happen to mess up the fitment/desired effect ,the first time ,if you did go with the double ended version…you can start over.you’ll have the other 1/2 to work with. Remember…SUBTLE & INTRIGUE is the goal. The last thing you want to do is evoke thoughts of fear or pain. Or worse..Staring,pointing and giggling..That would be the worst!stay safe & Cary On!!
