Wearing Nilfgaardian armor probably didn't help Geralt's case with Radovid very much.

she and Dijikstra are heavily implied to be the ones responsible for radovids' fathers death for one, but the main thing is that she essentially tried to manipulate him into being her puppet ruler. This obviously failed and once he became of age he kicked her out, thus his hatred of mages
Not Dijikstra. He was 100% loyal. In fact, Dijikstra telling Philippa that he knows she was behind the assassination was what got him on Philippa's "to kill off" list, forcing him to leave Northern Kingdoms.
lol i don't care about reasons , yeah he had a bad childhood and it is just too bad its his father . its no reason to kill off all other mages , druid pellar healers and non human races etc .
if he is that damaged as a person THEN he have to die . maybe he had reasons to justify him becoming like this ? but he had to die to stop this hate that hes trying to spread .
You should care, because Philippa is main reason why Radovid ends as a madman. She murdered his father, she warped his mind to make him just a puppet. Without her careless and stupid schemes Radovid could be a wise, sensible king. His damaged personality is Philippas fault. Almost everything that falls on the Lodge, Philippa and Síle is nothing more than a consequence of their arrogant actions. Rest of the suffering that magic community must endure is just ricocheting. It's Philippa Eilhart and Síle de Tansarville so damaged as a persons that they deserve to die in the first place. If someone "took care" of them before the assassination of Vizimir, things would look completely different for the entire North.
After everything Geralt and Radovid have been through, throughout the entire series, I find it absolutely unbelievable that he would attempt to kill off Geralt like that. They really did Radovid no justice as a character in The Witcher 3. Only wrote him off as a psychotic monarch to fit their moral gray bill for every choice in this game, and I find that disappointing.

The same shit happened to the Illusive Man in Mass Effect. In ME2, he was a brilliant, but bigoted man who nonetheless wants to help Shepard save humanity, even going so far as to recruit aliens and fund Shepard's campaigns. In ME3, he becomes a doddering maniac sabotaging those who are trying to save the galaxy and getting himself and his armies indoctrinated by the Reapers.

Radovid was 13 at the time of the Peace of Cintra. Witcher 1 starts 5 years after the Peace, meaning Radovid's 18. Also, Yennefer mentions that Geralt has been fucking Tris for "upwards a year", so I'm assuming at most year-and-a-half passed between Witcher 1 and Witcher 3. So in Witcher 3 Radovid is 19-20.

He has _very good reasons_ for killing mages (mages killed his father, and three out of four major northern monarchs - him being the last one, all in apparent coordination with Nilfgaard). But you wouldn't know that, since you're clearly unfamiliar with the universe. Killing Geralt for no reason - is ridiculous.
Its obviously just a cheap hack writing bit intended to make Radovid decidedly the villain, cause he didn't really do anything to you up to that point. But its also stupid on several additional levels. Radovid knows you very well and knows how capable you are - if he wanted to kill you, shouldn't he prepare a proper trap? Moreover, if he wants to kill you, why not kill you AFTER he gets his hands on Eilheart? Its just hack writing.

Just like how we have religious fanatics today who commit terrible crimes, doesn't mean all who are of that group do the same. He had no good reasons for killing all the mages, any level headed person could tell you that. Every king should know that.

Remember that killing all the mages also gets him money he needs to help pay for the war... so its a merciless, cruel, immoral thing to do, I'll grant, but in the contxt of the middle ages, and a *desperate war for survival* against the scourge of the Black Ones - its not "mad" by any means. Pogroms happen every other Thursday in the Northern Kingdoms...
To people saying this is a stupid decision (Radovid's ending), it's merely a decision you do not like.
Witcher 3 is the finale of Geralt's story. The story focuses solely on Geralt, Ciri and the Wild Hunt. Assassins of Kings focused on exactly that, and the ultimate stakes were inherently very politically high. In this game your choices determine what happens to Geralt and Ciri. Emhyr, who is directly involved with the story till the finale, cannot just be assassinated in a side arc. The choices are of this nature because of the nature of the narative.
This is the not the real Radovid. He is unlike The Witcher Two. This simply doesn't fit.
Drummerinthe Park I noticed that too, I was happy to side with him in the Witcher 2, I gave the princess to him. He seemed like a good king, but he did a complete 180 in Witcher 3 and turned into a mage-hating psychopath.

+Maxymilian Radovid was suspicious since The Witcher 1 sadly. I thought in The Witcher 2 he would be more merciful and understanding, but after visiting him with Roche, I did come to the conclusion that Radovid might become a little "unstable", I do think he took way too many wrong turns. X__x
Past events shouldn't be taken into consideration when other moves are to be used. Radovid's hate is evident when it comes mages because of what he was told about his father and what Eilhart did to him, he is a true hater and would do anything to exterminate every wizard and anyone who uses magic. I would have let Dijkstra win the world but I love Vernon a lot and I cannot see him die like that. Nilfgaard is the true contender and should conquer the world, it's even better if Ciri becomes the empress but she is destined to be a witcher and that is where it gets settled. Yennefer with Geralt and Ciri his forever daughter as a witcher. And last but not the least, I feel the non-humans deserve to live and they can only survive under the reign of Emhyr.

SPOILERS: Its a blody shame how North ended up. Ruled by a tyranical madman, Dijkstra who begun his rule by murdering half of Temerias heroes or Nilfgard. Why the hell had Foltest had to be the only normal monarch there?

It's interesting how the people who wanted Radovid dead, happen to be the exact same people who called him 'mad' from the very first meeting.
Clearly they just wanted control of the throne, apart from the persecution of Mages & non - humans, Radovid seems to be an excellent king.
His military defeats of Nilgaard should be hailed.

As it turns out, Geralt was 100% honest in his dealing with Radovid. Phillipa really was there, waiting for him.
They handled Radovid pretty poorly if you ask me, i thought him a madman not a coward, especially considering he stood his ground against Saskia in the Witcher 2. Was really expecting a boss fight, oh well...

This is painful.
What they did to Radovid in TW3 is the _single biggest disappointment of the whole game._ They claim he's mad. We don't see that. We see a grim, brooding, merciless monarch. And probably the greatest Northern king of all time: if you leave him alone, he manages to unite the entire North. Radovid V *the Great,* I say.
He blinded Philippa Eilheart? SHE MURDERED HIS FATHER, and tormented/humiliated him throughout his childhood. She is a traitor, conspirator, and assassin - in the Middle Ages they'd have her _drawn and quartered,_ not blinded. I can't believe they let her have revenge.
He goes after mages? So far as he knows, a conspiracy of mages killed two Northern monarchs, tried to kill a third, all in order to weaken the North for Nilfgaard. And in coordination with the Nilfgaardian invasion. Not only that, but going after these people will get him money he desperately needs to fight Nilfgaard. Ruthless, merciless, even cruel? Perhaps. Insane? No.
dIRECT0R All Northern Monarchs are assholes, but at least Henselt justified it with making Kaedwen stronger. Radovid does not have that excuse. In fact, his actions would weaken the North.

If you let Radovid live, not only does he deliver a crushing defeat to Nilfgaard, but he also unites the entire North - something no Northern monarch ever came close to achieving. How is that "weakening"? All we get that might indicate that is the claim by Sigismund Dijkstra that Radovid is supposedly "mad"... except that Dijkstra is his enemy that's working to take over his kingdom.

Frank G Says you... Nowhere did the game indicate that killing mages and nonhumans somehow "weakened" Redania in any significant way. Again - Redania DEFEATS NILFGAARD virtually single-handed. Not only is that not "weak", it makes it the strongest Northern kingdom of all time. While its killing mages and nonhumans.
Remember that Radovid can and does make use of mages - he has many of them captive and forces them to serve. The game makes that clear.
Frank G Again - that's more of your own fantasy. We don't see that. We don't know whether Radovid will turn on his subjects - the epilogue doesn't say that. It just says he's going to continue going after mages and nonhumans. We also aren't told whether the people of Aedirn and Temeria will oppose Radovid at all - as opposed to greet him as their amazing liberator from the Black Ones. Moreover - Radovid is Foltest's son-in-law, he's married to his oldest child - he has the single strongest claim on the Temerian throne.
Not sure how being a Nilfgaardian vassal is much better than a union of crowns with Redania...

I just finished this quest last night and was completely confused as I was kind of shocked that this was it. I thought Geralt'd have to kill Radovid. When the quest ended, I just sat there thinking 'is that really it? Surely there's more to it" Bloody disappointing ending to a quest I was looking forward to and it felt so rushed and it was a huge let-down - especially for a story-driven game, and usually incredible, game like Witcher 3. Glad Dijkstra is gone as well, though.
I think it made perfect sense this way. Did you play Witcher 2 and witness what Radovid did to Philippa?
bLazE No, this is my first Witcher game, but I do understand that Phillipa would want revenge after he ripped her eyes out! But, after all the lead-up, the quest ending seemed rushed.
I have read the first book now and looking forward to reading and playing more Witcher. It's such a great story.

I recently bought Witcher and Witcher 2 in a GOG sale, so looking forward to playing them. Also reading 'The Sword of Destiny' and have ordered 'The Blood of Elves'. Loving Sapkowski's writing style and hope they make that new Witcher tv show they're talking about, based on the first 2 short story collections. I think Mads Mikkelson would make a fantastic Geralt :-)

I imagine he means Blood and Broken bones, if you imagine story with sword being normal and just the story being easy and death march being very hard or impossible
Actually if you follow the story, Radovid should have been given an opportunity to kill Phillipa as well. She's done him a lot of harm in the past and deserved her punishment.

I don't know if he's on PC but he's clearly using a controller considering the camera movements and the HUD, but if you take into account how nice and smooth the game is running I'd say he's on PC.

+Soul Intent This quest comes really late in the game, after you find Phillipa
there's three quests that will give you this quest. this quest becomes available late into the main story. but you also have to act a certain way with certain characters from my understanding, mainly dijkstra where breaking his leg will not make this quest pop up.

JJ Mäkelä Nilfgaardian guardsman set. Absolutely perfect for anyone who specializes in combat or just generally likes the aesthetic and usefulness of it. I think you get it in Kaer Trolde on Skellige.
IshootURface lol you get it in a billion different places with different stats lvl reqs, only reason to really use it is if you like the look tho, Id say the witcher sets give better bonus's, especially when combined with the witcher school skills

Why would you even want this trash armor, it sucks. Go full manticore + manticore swords. Use levity enchantment and learn cat school techniques. It's the best imo.
