British HOBNOBS Oat Bicuits Recipe! Just Like The Real Thing! World beating. Just Like Us?!?!?

- I get a bit tired of the sociopaths in the UK government going on about how everything they do is 'World beating' or 'World leading' when it's often not true - because this misleading, self indulgent rhetoric takes away from all the things we do best. Like biscuits! And these hobnobs really are one of the many great things that Britain has given to the world. Hey, if you don't believe me try them for yourself. Homemade hobnobs are even better than shop bought too. So give this hobnobs recipe a try and bring a little bit of British joy into your lives.
Full hobnobs recipe:
125g softened butter
75g sugar
1 generous tablespoon golden syrup
125g wholewheat flour
200g chopped oats
A good pinch of salt
1 level tsp baking soda
Around 2 tablespoons of water
Bake in a preheated oven set to 140C (285F) with the fan setting on for 23-25 minutes. Turn the oven off and allow the hobnobs to crisp up for around 10 minutes.
Enjoy!

Tried this today. Used brown sugar and honey instead of syrup. Sweetness is very mild so maybe more sugar would be needed but otherwise turned out extremely nice. Crisp and golden brown.
That opening schpeel got you an instant subscriber hahaha
Cheers mate
Thank you,
Love your Humor I come from Stockton-On-Tees and I now live in Germany Miss the biscuits so i'll definately be Making These and the Treacle keep the good work Going 😀
Thanks mate. Appreciate it 👍
These look great I can’t wait to make them. I just made chocolate crumble with baking chocolate butter and oats with maple syrup because I’m a Brit that lives in Canada!
Works with gluten-free flour, too. Made 39 biscuits. I didn't leave them in the oven afterwards as I found it made 2 batches. More of a sweet oat biscuit rather than the classic hobnob but very tasty and nice and crisp. Will definitely be making again. Gas mark 1 for gas cooker people like me!
Thanks! You got a new subscriber for both the recipe and for the honest commentary! 😉
Thanks mate
Good afternoon! Thank you for the interesting and informative video!
It's always interesting to watch the plot when it's so well shot.
Have a nice day! 😊 👍 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹
Oat biscuits are my favourite and I've never even had the real deal yet! I bet these would be fantastic in a high tea arrangement 🤤
Yours was the best recipe and method. I used honey for the syrup. 0.25 lb. butter with 1/8 cup peanut butter. Substituted half & half cups of brown/white sugar. Used .5 cup whole wheat flour, .25 cups each of organic unbleached white flour & coconut flour. Added 1/8 cup ground flax seed. Threw in a few chopped walnuts too. Used a little extra simmering water. The whole oat flakes were pulsed a few times in the processor. It is still your recipe & technique, IMHO. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. I think it's fair to say it was a team effort 🙂
@@TheTeessideChef: You are generous to say so. Forgot to report an added dash of cinnamon. I search for sweets that limit the increase of one's A1C and discourage sugar addiction. Those German Apple Oatmeal Walnut Cakes, modified, show promise. A modified Hob Nob may also do the trick. Keep doing what you do. The coconut flour sent your recipe to heaven. (It may remind us of the naughty palm oil that Carr's used.)
Oh no - love cinnamon in chai but never in apple pies or cookies. Apple pie - cloves. Cookies - cardamom!
Just made a batch of these. Well what else do you do on a Bank Holiday Monday when the weather's shite? Just yummy and you can dunk them. Thanks Chef😊
Biscuits and amusingly accurate social commentary in one video. My kind of video.
Easy peasy thanks Chef 😄
I am very excited watching this video. This may be beyond my capability but I think I will give this a try. I'll come back with my results but if I don't you will know it wasn't a smashing success. Thanks,
@@RonRicho good luck mate 👍
Quality! I am old enough to remember HobNobs being released- a revelation! Any recommendations for a chocolate variety?
You can just drizzle some milk or dark chocolate on these and they're good to go. Cadbury's of course 😋
Looks like perfect oat biscuits. Thank you!
Got a batch of these cooling down in the oven, they smell absolutely delicious, I do love my nob, hobbled. Oo er Mrs 🇬🇧
Aah mate I'm well jealous. I finished all mine 🙁 Gonna have to do another batch soon
Thank you Sir .... How do you make just ordinary tea biscuits or butter biscuits for dunking...?
I have a shortbread video if that helps: th-cam.com/video/9S9tQL7r7kI/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely perfect! Thank you
Liked your humor.
Can I make this without sugar 😊
This particular recipe would not work without sugar I'm afraid ☹
If I wanted to add peanut butter, would you add extra oats or flour? Or think I wouldn't need the water? Always wanted peanut butter hobnobs and with your recipe I can now make em.
I'd probably be inclined to leave out a little of the butter. Peanut butter is high in fat but also will have a drying effect on the mouthfeel so more dry ingredients or less wet ingredients doesn't sound like the way to go for me. I've never tried it before though so couldn't say for sure. Would be interested to hear how they turn out though. Sounds awesome
Finally giving these a try today - forgot to get flour though so went for rice flour... forgot to get butter too so ended up with the housemates vegan "Vitalife" crap. In short, I have no faith in the abomination currently in the oven and I'm gonna try again next weekend XD
Haha hope they're edible mate. If they are you deserve 100% of the credit and if they aren't you can blame me lol
absolute disaster; like someone mixed sugar with PVA glue then dehydrated it haha - will report back when I've had a go with the right ingredients

I’m loving the North East accents on you tube they all make me home sick 🇬🇧
Difference please between whole wheat or wholemeal flour?
They're the same thing 🙂
Mine are still soft after 45 minutes. How long should they take to get biscuit-crisp please?
Did you bake them for 45 minutes or have they been out of the oven for 45 minutes? If it's the latter, try putting them back in a hot oven for 10 mins or so, then turn off the oven and let them sit in there to crisp up. If it's the former, check the recipe again because they won't take that long to crisp up. Hope that helps
Yes, it was the latter and I have now just popped them back in the oven. Perfect! Thank you very much!@@TheTeessideChef
Your mission should you accept it... Do you remember Abbey Crunch biscuits? If so can you recreate them? This message will self distruct in 10 seconds 😂
My favorite!!!
😋
Please mention the quantity of each item and also the baking power (heat power) I have tried the same process but its no way near the actual hob nobs.
Best regards
There's a full ingredient list with baking time and temp in the description

That accent isn't even real. Its severely over exadurated. Weird nix of Yorkshire and geordie lol
