I love mixing dough with my hands. Relaxing. Had a former friend once ask, absolutely shocked when she realized I mixed my dough with my hands, "Do you feel your hands are clean enough?" I just said WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU COOK. Scrub them if you need to. I am a habitual hand washer. I raised my kids to wash their hands as a HABIT NOT A CHORE. I think that's pretty simple logic.
Such a relaxing and interesting video. Great simple kitchen. Nice soft background music. I love ginger. And butter. Thank you for explaining the differences around the biscuit/cookie thing. I live in northern Minnesota but have always adored all things English. Thank you for such great tutorials! 🥰👏🏼
You read my mind. I thought about making ginger biscuits earlier today, checked out your channel and just hours ago you released a ginger biscuit video. I made mine using black treacle and a light muscovado. Curiously my doe balls didn't collapse, I had to press them down. But they baked to become true ginger snap biscuit. The treacle flavour competed with the ginger but the taste was still awesome. Best ginger biscuits I've ever made.
Paul you make us see that everything is easy to bake and really when there is willingness and desire to do it it is achieved, your easy recipes are made like this! The delicious and exquisite Biscuit Ginger look perfect, what else could we see from the master of baking! Aww you have a beautiful Maine Coon kitten as a pet, he brings good vibes to you and your home, pets love their owners, calm and relax them! Thank you for sharing them with your videos! Congratulations
I’ve made these cookies twice and love that they come together perfectly with no noisy mixers! Perfect for stealth baking…. I added the zest of one lemon and used regular caster sugar instead of golden. Measured them to 20g each for a yield of 26 cookies. Careful, these little babies are addictive! Update: Right now, multiple batches in, I have settled on using the zest of one orange as my one and only swap out. No more lemon or trying cardamom, etc. just the single orange zest makes these little suckers pop! 😀😜
@Chris Reynolds Howdy! I have never used coconut or tapioca flour (have used rye, almond, regular), so I’m hopeful that someone who HAS will see your query and respond in a more helpful manner! What I know is that coconut flour has a higher absorbency than regular flour, which will result in different finished texture of the bake, so that’s going to mean you’d have to slightly increase the golden syrup in this recipe which might not achieve desired results. I supposed you could try using 1/4 - 1/3 ratio of coconut flour for every 1 ratio of regular flour called for, and keep the golden syrup as stated in recipe. For this one, if my maths are right, that would mean 56 - 75 g of coconut flour. Tapioca flour is a total mystery to me so I’m not even going to hazard a guess! Usually when I adapt recipes I only swap out spices, or add some soaked fruit inclusions or make a drizzle for atop said baked item. I’m not advanced enough to start swapping out dry and wet ingredients - once you do that you’re venturing into the chemical and scientific nature of baking, which is fun and fine if you don’t mind tipping things into the trash! 😬. Best of luck!
7:38 I like how the second tray of biscuits are squished down flat but when he puts them in the oven they are perfectly round xD Just remember guys these cooking channels make alot of attempt cooks before they show you the final product to make sure they look absolutely perfect
Winter storm here in my part of the US today, so I made these and now the house feels toasty and smells amazing! They were great with my cuppa and I'll make them again and again, I'm sure! Also, v-e-r-y easy.
@@jeannie1renee2 if it helps, and for any future recipes, you have a converter right at the end of your fingertips on your phone/computer. Always on hand 👍😀
Totally Yum. I usually always have biscuits with a nice cup of tea but I've gotta say that ginger biscuits are really delicious with a cup of coffee. I find dunking these biscuits in coffee really brings out the ginger flavour. My mouth is watering just thinking about it....I'm off to the kitchen.
I'm having a tea with a Walkers Stem Ginger Biscuit while watching. I will most definitely try this recipe. I love ginger in all its forms for sweet and savory dishes. Thank you
Second go of making them. Where I live difficult to get golden syrup but found it. Added more ginger amazing recipe and biscuit. Thanks very much Paul.
Looks like a nice recipe. It will go well with a cuppa Assam tea. Added to my recipe cards. I’m tempted to make a Keto recipe with almond flour and stivia.
I made these by putting all the ingredients in a mixing bowl together, by using the mixing bowl there is no need to separate all the ingredients, I cooked them on 160 fan very pleased with result.
Thanks Paul for a nice, easy treat. I as well love ginger :) Your channel makes me a happy person in the kitchen as I see your beautiful art at work. Stay safe!
Looks easy enough to bake. I was just having a store bought ginger bread biscuit. I bet your recipe is 3 times better! I must try baking that. Thanks for the recipe!
This is my 1st time checking out your content! I miss my proper biscuits when I was in Canning Town's East End and also in Frensham Farnham Surrey. NOW I'm feelin' for the Ginger Biss! This alone got you a thumbs up and subscription mate! I plan on referencing you as 1 of my Foodie Recipe Channels! 👍
Corn syrup? -replace this unhealthy item with molasses & replace white sugar with brown, add black pepper. Not enough GINGER -if you want amazing HOT ginger cookies that you need to sip milk with after each bite -add 6 tbs of powdered ginger + squeeze 2-3" of thin raw ginger slices through a garlic press. Chill dough in freezer for easy cutting. Roll out thin for crisp, thick for chewy.
Paul Hollywood has a grey cat! I did not know that. :D As for the ginger biscuits. I must have eaten them twice in my life, but I'm interested in making my own!
These are the exact same ingredients as my mum's recipe but her recipe says to gently melt the sugar, butter and treacle in a pan and add to the dry indredients. It's a lot less messy when dealing with treacle as I put the pan on the sacales and measure out the treacle straight from the tin to the pan.
Hello. I am from Denmark and a fan and have tried this wonderful recipe. The taste is nice, but they didn't float out and were flat like yours, what went wrong? Thanks from Pia❤
Thank you so much, Paul. I love this easy recipe. I'm going to bake them as a gift. I have a question, My oven tends to be quite hot, should I reduce the temperature? Or should I stay with gas mark 5? Valerie.
That's one job I hate doing Paul is rubbing the butter into the flour, I've just bought a pastry cutting in tool from Amazon which does it for you. The biscuits look lovely, you can't beat a ginger biscuit. I also dunk mine
I bought some Lyles from Amazon to make this and tasted it. You could use corn syrup (Karo) with a few tablespoons of molasses. That’s the consistency and that’s what it tastes like. :)
In North America (I mean Canada & USA), a cookie refers to all - a ginger snap is a cookie. All snaps are cookies - generally round in shape. Here, biscuits are what you might call a scone. :O)
I have a special “spice blend “ I use for my gingerbread. Think I will make these using my blend. Comes together so much faster and no rolling and cutting. Thanks Paul! It looks like a great cookie! 🤪🇺🇸
How many recipes for Ginger Biscuits do you have?? I'm trying to find the ingredients in U.S. measurements, so I looked up Paul Hollywood Ginger Biscuits, and have found at least 6 with different measurements and ingredients for each one. :(

Nothing beats dipping ginger biscuits into a morning cup of tea 🤤 😋
Learning that Paul Hollywood has a cat makes me smile 🙂
Live Paul's bakes as well as his travel programs. All the time, updated recipies to give us his expertise knowledge Thanks
That's exactly how I make them, except I usually sprinkle a little sugar on them after they come out of the oven. So easy, so tasty!
Omg love this man, he is soooo good ( and ofcourse good looking)
Thanks for the tip on tacking the parchment paper down with a little butter or oil. Now I know why my bakes cooked unevenly!

As a British person in the U.S. I found your recipes to be great. The scones were fabulous. And now for the biscuits

You might think I am crazy, but 1/4 tsp black pepper gives an extra bite of heat to these! You cannot taste pepper, just the bite of ginger heat!
Wow you have a nice comment... hello how are you doing today
Sounds good. Will try this next time 🙂
Ooh, that sounds interesting, I'll have to try that. I was thinking of adding crystallised ginger to the "batter" too to see how that comes out.
Not crazy at all, like some German spice cookies I've had. Great!
Noted!!!!

Is golden syrup honey or corn syrup?
Beautiful cat. ❤ I added crystallized ginger pieces.
My favourite biscuits and I like your cat.🐈
Paul, if you use you butter wrapper on the bowl you put the syrup in before adding the syrup, it will slide right out when adding it to your recipe.😉😊

Gorgeous cat! Will try the biscuits too. 😊🇨🇦
Cat?
I used up my left over Pumpkin Pie Spice I had in a jar as I had no ginger spice. Biscuits tasted delicious. Cute furry friend in the video !

Making these right now. Though the written instructions vary. I’m still chilling for half hour as my kitchen is warm❤
Terrific texture. I’d add a little bit of salt and maybe some chopped up crystallized ginger and a dash of pepper to up the spice level next time.

To produce the crispy in your cookie, try a tablespoon of Crisco ..works

So many here are not familiar with golden syrup .Here in Australia it's pretty much a staple.
Love this recipe, could I substitute honey for golden syrup ?

He is using syrup not honey
Could you use baking spread for these?
My husband loves Ginger biscuits but we can't get golden syrup readily available in Trinidad WI. Any substitutes for this? thanks
Corn syrup works
Also, honey
Also, can make syrup out of sugar & water, but, is a pesky & lengthy process. Easy to wind up with a sweet mess instead
Do you bake everything on parchment paper?
Thank you for telling us how to make ginger biscuits, but I didn't understand, which powder have you used, is is baking powder, or baking soda??
Baking soda
Beautiful cat. What breed is it?
U my type of cook
How come you didnt chill the dough first before baking ?
What is the American version of golden syrup?
Well mine came out on the soft side, and there's only one way to dispose of them. They are going down a treat. Trying again tomorrow.
