When Jaime says 'It's yours. It'll always be yours', I legit get sentimental just thinking what a long journey these two characters have had. A really compelling scene, the two hopeless romantics. If this was anything else other than GoT they would be making out in that tent, you know that. Well they would've made out long before this, in that bath back in Season 3. And yet that look of pure sadness they gave each other was more expressive than a thousand make out scenes. What an agonizing build! Btw Jaime taking Riverrun with Rains of Castamere playing in the back is my type of aesthetic.
Kind of funny to call them hopeless romantics when this love story was an addition by Dumb and Dumber for...reasons? Oh, btw Lady Stoneheart/resurrected Cat Tully hanged both Brienne and Podrick, so this ship is not canon by any means.
The Waif had gotten the best of Arya over and over again and there's no reason to believe this time would've been any different. Except in the only situation where she had an advantage over The Waif...in blindness. That moment of her slicing out the candle with Needle was badass. One more typical headchopping segment would've meant nothing. The Moutain already had that covered. The way this was done, bringing it full circle to the blind training and leaving the rest to imagination, was much more inventive and made for an awesome climax.
Arya has been my favorite character since episode 2 when she threw Joffrey's sword in the river. I had know idea how much MORE badass she would become. I remember jumping out my seat and fist pumping the air the first time I saw the ending to this. One of my favorite moments for sure

Yeah season 6 is bloody awesome in so many moments...it has some flaws as does season 5 from removing and changing book material and rushing some stuff...plus a few iffy logic moments. But it's far from bad like season 7 and 8 sadly are.
Season 6 is pretty bad. The reason people like it is because a lot of fanservice moments happen, like Arya killing the Freys, Jon defeating Ramsay, Cersei blowing up the High Sparrow, Jon's parentage being revealed and so on. But the writing is awful. Like how Arya here gets stabbed in the gut by a highly skilled assassin but somehow doesn't die immediately, and doesn't have any infections either after swimming through a dirty canal with a gut wound. Remember how Khal Drogo reacted to a little scratch? That was the realism of the past seasons, which is now completely gone. In addition to that, Arya's story is just becoming a generic action girl story at this point. Her story used to be a quite complex and harrowing journey of a girl who wanted to be a warrior, got thrown into increasingly bloody and traumatic situations, ultimately culminating in the deaths of her family, and in season 4, she was fully on the path for bloodlust and revenge. That's why she got to Braavos in the first place not to become a warrior like she once dreamed to be, but to be an instrument of murder and revenge upon the people who wronged her. Yet instead of the dark story of the once innocent girl who is broken by the world and becomes a bloodthirsty murderer, we get a story about this happy action girl who seems to act like a self insert for the viewer and is used mostly to kill people we don't like while we're sitting on the couch cheering. When she murders people it's shown as if it's a great thing and we should be excited over it, because murdering people out of vengeance is a GOOD thing now apparently. That's GOT in late season 6 and it is the complete opposite of how George RR Martin wrote his books and her character. It's so simplistic, so shallow and so awful, and it could have been so much better with better writers.

All Jaime said to Edmure was strategic. Jaime wanted to reason with Edmure, discuss things with him but all Edmure saw was the old dishonorable Jaime. So Jaime went alright that's how he sees me, so he used his old reputation of a scary ruthless guy to scare Edmure and used that to bargain with him in surrendering the castle. So at the end of the day Jaime revealed himself to be a pretty damn good strategist and politician. He took a castle without loss of life(except the Black Fish).
I never thought about it being a strategic move, I always thought he was super angry with the High Sparrow manipulating Tommen and just taking back everything that belongs to him and Cersei

the thing about Jaime: he learns to lean on reputation so that he doesn't have to actually break his oath to Catelyn/Brienne, and so that if Cersei hears about his moves, she's satisfied. he knows what people think about him, what they know about the Lannisters, and the ghost of Tywin still looms large. he doesn't want to fight, he doesn't want to kill the Blackfish etc., but he's super clever in making the Frey's and Edmure Tully think that he has no qualms about it. he's done a lot of growing, but its pretty clear he's two different people- who he is with Cersei bc that's what he knows, and who he is with Brienne- who (i think) he really wants to be/wishes he could be. Brienne brings out the best in him, Cersei brings out the worst.

Cersei played her best card in the last episode having the mountain kill the faith militant. She showed her strength too early and the High Sparrow knew she would demand a trial by combat so he manipulated Tommen into forbidding it.

This episode is made to feel like a hope killer. First time watching I thought they're prepping you for another downer ending, as every plan seem to fall apart here. It's a great lead-in to the home stretch of the season, with everything left up in the air. The calm before the storm, it's heavy on the dialogue side and I love all the interactions that take place here. It takes me in for a memory loop and reminds me just how emotionally attached I got to these characters, for some of whom it's about to be curtains. But the reason I like it the most is cause it revolves around character depth: the silent chemistry of Nik and Gwendoline steals the show here! Can't help but kinda root for Cersei too with the odds stacked so much against her!
Just FYI. Hanging is not necessarily a quick way to die. It can actually be very painful and gruesome. You’re neck can snap and you can still be alive and slowly suffocate and pass away. Love watching your reactions to this! 👏🏼

In their defense. When a brain has seen as little use as Tommens. Washing it doesn't require a helluva lot of effort. I think its kind of fitting that those who were planning on taking advantage of that character trait. Seem to be paying for it now.
It's normal to feel a bit let down by off camera fight and death because we're conditioned to expect seeing them. But it's an anticipation building tactic, a blowout here would've cheapened the main course. Not blowing the load early or repetitively was the hook of the show, that's exactly the ingredient which created those iconic moments. They could've easily had a heroic flash and bang send off for the Blackfish here, but holding back is a skill too. *Yes the Blackfish is legendary, but he was never more than a side character in the show* . *You can't highlight every 10 thousand Asoiaf characters* . Which brings us to Brienne and Jaime. This episode is theirs, the fighting at Riverrun is just the backdrop. Yet this obvious fact seem incomprehensible to some. They didn't have time to go into the Siege of Riverrun and nothing wrong with that. It's a complicated minor plot involving Tommen, Kevan, etc. and would've been impractical to waste a season on it. So they incorporated it with the broader Jaime arc. The story of two star crossed lovers stuck on opposite sides of loyalty is shown phenomenally here. This is a great emotion-driven episode, probably the most famous battle ever done on television, we get next.

Arya became on e of the most unrelatable characters of the show. Her story also feels like they stopped it after bravos and then you blink and shes this rule free assassin.
To be fair it’s okay for a show not to have gay and lesbian characters. It would totally ruin the immersion if there were more than 2 or 3 because medieval society didn’t think of it as a fad or cool as it’s been perceived since ~2012 which is very recently.

Brianne and Jaime are such a mismatch I’ll never get why fans want it so bad. It was forced from the beginning of their friendship. We know the type of woman he likes.
Brienne and Jaime are nothing alike. Brienne is overbearing and looks a bit like Ramsay when she's angry or aggressive has a similar look on her face very unattractive both personally and physically but she has a bit of morality to her although it's not a lot or portrayed well in the show. Cersei is Jaime's poison. He shouldn't be with her and having incest but like an addict and a helpless lost puppy and a troubled person he keeps up with her. So in his world Cersei is his perfect match even if it isn't. It's like an obsession. He's in love with her without knowing why or how. Maybe because she's like his other side of things. It's like science says love doesn't have an explanation it just exists. Part of life. Jaime most likely sees Cersei only on the outside for what she is (a beautiful, a radiant and an honest women in his mind) and fails to understand what personality she has (which is rotten, extremely dangerous and malicious). But if you ask me Brienne & Cersei are both no good for Jaime. He deserves better than a spiteful, manipulative and a power greedy sister, and a person (swordswoman) who calls and refers to him as "Kingslayer" just to insult him.
Daenerys may be the mother of dragons but Cersei "I choose violence" Lannister was the mother of a thousand memes! That epic line😂😂😂

Which brings us to Brienne and Jaime. This episode is theirs, the fighting at Riverrun is just the backdrop. Yet this obvious fact seem incomprehensible to some. They didn't have time to go into the Siege of Riverrun and nothing wrong with that. It's a complicated minor plot involving Tommen, Kevan, etc. and would've been impractical to waste a season on it. So they incorporated it with the broader Jaime arc. The story of two star crossed lovers stuck on opposite sides of loyalty is shown phenomenally here. This is a great emotion-driven episode, probably the most famous battle ever done on television, we get next.

Brienne and Jaime are nothing alike. Brienne is overbearing and looks a bit like Ramsay when she's angry or aggressive has a similar look on her face very unattractive both personally and physically but she has a bit of morality to her although it's not a lot or portrayed well in the show. Cersei is Jaime's poison. He shouldn't be with her and having incest but like an addict and a helpless lost puppy and a troubled person he keeps up with her. So in his world Cersei is his perfect match even if it isn't. It's like an obsession. He's in love with her without knowing why or how.
Maybe because she's like his other side of things. It's like science says love doesn't have an explanation it just exists. Part of life. Jaime most likely sees Cersei only on the outside for what she is (a beautiful, a radiant and an honest women in his mind) and fails to understand what personality she has (which is rotten, extremely dangerous and malicious). But if you ask me Brienne & Cersei are both no good for Jaime. He deserves better than a spiteful, manipulative and a power greedy sister, and a person (swordswoman) who calls and refers to him as "Kingslayer" just to insult him.
