    Emilia was great giving the big speech to her soldiers. She spent weeks practising it, and to get inspiration she watched footage of foreign dictators making speeches.

      She did a damn good job. It didn't really hit me until just now because her city of so much ash looking like it was winter reminded me of that scene from Schindler's List. And with that in mind her speech seemed a LOT like one of Hitler's speeches....with all his crazy yelling & talk of world domination for the aryan race.

    15:43: it’s a recreation of a vision from season 2 episode 10 where she went to the house of the undying. This time, she touches the throne.

  • @SerbAtheist
    @SerbAtheist ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Season 2, The House of the Undying... There is snow in the room, the room's celing is destroyed, but not nearly as much as in this episode. She comes to the throne but never touches it because she hears a voice and travels through snow (Snow!) to be with Khal Drogo and her child. All in all, a powerful premonition.

    • @darth856
      @darth856 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wish they would have kept the throne room looking the same. Jon could have carried Dany's body outside and meet Drogon there (if that was the issue).

    • @SerbAtheist
      @SerbAtheist ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@darth856 Nah, there is a big reason the Throne room is MORE destroyed. First, it's eerie as f*** that what was already a haunting scene is even worse in real life. Second, it is symbolic of the fact that of all possible paths to power, Dany chose among the most destructive ones.

    • @dak0ta119
      @dak0ta119 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not meant to be a literal interpretation. The reason she does not touch the throne metaphorically represents that Dany will soon learn about the threat of the Others and join the fight to protect their world. GRRM has deftly laid out that the Iron Throne is a false prize, which Dany will see through. The House of the Undying was foreshadowing the Others, and a sign to Dany of her true purpose.

    • @brandoman79
      @brandoman79 ปีที่แล้ว

      My personal theory is that the ending will be similar in the books but different as keep in mind there is an "Aegon" character in the books who Verys is backing and who he wants to be King. My theory is Dan and Dave combined the "Aegon" character and his storyline with Jon's storyline and that certain plot points to both Jon and "Aegon" will happen in the books in different order. For example in the book Verys is trying to get "Aegon" with Dany; so my I am predicting all the Jon and Dany romance scenes on the show will be Dany and "Aegon" in the books. However the scenes where Jon asks Dany to fight the army of the dead will be Jon and Dany's interactions. However since they combined the characters of Jon and "Aegon" here is where I think they had to change Dany's character in order to keep Jon's intact. Here is how I see the the battle of King's landing etc... taking place in the books. Tyrion as Hand of the Queen will learn Verys' end goal is not to have "Aegon" simply marry Dany and be he consort but actually be the ruler; he'll tip Dany off and Verys will be executed. The attack on Kingslanding happens and the surrender bell sounds, but it is "Aegon" not Dany to rides and burns the people. "Aegon" will kill Dany to claim the throne. Greyworm and Dany's supporters will arrest "Aegon" and demand he be executed. Sam and Bran will reveal "Aegon" is a fraud and has no claim to the Iron Throne and it will be here that they reveal Jon is the real Prince Aegon and is the actual heir to the Iron Throne. However Grey Worm and Dany's forces want justice and feel cheated and aren't happy with a new King being proclaimed, so everyone agrees that all the Great Houses, Grey Worm etc... will hold a vote on who should be proclaimed King. Jon having lived and learned from Maestor Aemon ( King Aegon's older brother) will do exactly what Aemon did. He will refuse the crown and to insure no one can use him as a weapon against Bran (his oldest living male relative and his heir) He will re-take his vows and take the Black; he'll argue that there are still unknown threats beyond the wall and that he is needed their to protect his realm. Bran will sentence "Aegon" to death for high treason in murdering Queen Dany and for the crimes he committed in burning the city and so many innocent lives, and Jon will return to the wall and Bran will rule as King. To me "Aegon" will be the villain of the story as in the books it is "Aegon" not Dany or Jon Verys is pushing to be King and is the person he is backing, so much so that Verys has Kaven Lannister assassinated because he knew Kaven was a good adviser for King Tommen and with him gone the crown is in chaos. So the Show Runners gave certain key elements of the "Aegon" character to both Dany and Jon.

      I encourage you to read the books, it makes it obvious that the issues that created the shitshow in the last season was there all along.
      Its not a push against crowd pleasing, its crowd pleasing just done bad. Its not good, its not deep at all, and most ends of characters makes zero fucking sense if you know anything about the world.
      If you understood the world you would know that at the end of season 8, Grey Worm, his whole squad and Arya just off themselves by setting idiotic destinations for themselves. Naath litterally kills every foreigner by nature alone lol

    • @SerbAtheist
      @SerbAtheist ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bjornerluffy Of course the ending has value and finesse. There are plenty of videos which brilliantly analyze it, such as ''Game of Thrones: Why Daenerys Was Cersei All Along - Two Sides of the Same Queen'' and ''Foreshadowing it not character development [in mock capitals]: the rationalisation of tyranny''
      'characters makes zero fucking sense if you know anything about the world.'
      Really? What a flippant little statement. It's more that the characters violated established tropes, which often themselves make to use your words 'zero fucking sense' and people like you are now furious because of it.
      To just give one example regarding Jaime and Tyrion, expecting anyone to merrily stand by as 'their queen' barbecues their family member, no matter the bad blood between them and said family member, is the height of cinema trope stupidity.
      As for the books, I've read them all and Crows and Dragons are a plodding mess of considerably lower quality than the first three books. No wonder D&D had to make drastic changes. Or perhaps you're missing the likes of Penny and her pig, Lord Manderly the obese, Aegon the milquetoast, Quentyn the dragon food and about a dozen or so other irrelevant characters. As for Naath, canon in books, never mentioned in the show. Sometimes it's good to pay attention.

    • @bjornerluffy
      @bjornerluffy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianvera4299 It was a retcon in the sense that they had no idea that Arya was gonna kill the Night King, even though they used it to justify the decision as foreshadowing.
      This was said after they admitted to deciding for Arya to kill him in season 7, which is four seasons after.
      You see how that is clumsy right?
      And Dany promising to burn down Qarth was the least of the clumsy things they did, but the reason is they are clumsy af is just because many of them go straight against the book counterparts. Like the killing of Viserys, Dany in show shows no remorse, but its a traumatic event that she is extremely conflicted about in the books. This is also in season 1, which they claimed was the first foreshadowing to season 8, which is true, its just shit foreshadowing because its just changing the character to be more evil as that is how they read her in the books.
      "Dragons dont plant trees" is a reference not to her being evil or warlike, but that her purpose is not to sit in Meereen and "plant trees" aka rule and develop her rule there. Her purpose is to go west. And her "planting trees" will directly lead to her being too late to westeros, and Aegon by that time will most likely have conquered it already.

      @@bjornerluffy That's still not a retcon but ok.
      So because they planned Arya killing the NK in 2016, it was clumsy? ok lol
      It is hilarious how blind dany stans justify mass genocide. D&D did more things less clumsy than you give credit, and that kind of foreshadowing was not shit because it did not lead to the happy ending that you wanted. I thought the first 4 seasons were perfect and totally book accurate, until Dany was called out for being exactly what she was from the very beginning.
      "dragons dont plant trees" is more than just a reference to not develop more than meereen, its about dragons only doing what they do best; fire and blood. GRRM has stated many times that dragons are a metaphor for nuclear weapons, destruction is what Dany does best.

    Yes, you did see the Throne being snowed in on in season 1 & yes you did see Drogon over Kings Landing in the early seasons. You see, it was always George's ending for all the main characters. The last few episodes, that some people had a beef with, mostly book admirers of George, who lay the blame on the screenplay writers. The same screenplay writers who put together season 6 & 7, with no books to rely on. To me, the best 20 consecutive episodes of GOT came from them. The start of season 6 till the end of season 8, episode 3. Backstage at the Emmy Awards, where they won the Best Drama Award for season 8, their 4th consecutive Best Drama Award (The only 4 the show won for Best Drama), they revealed that they didn't deviate from George's ending for the main characters. After some backlash, a year later, George announced that he would be changing the ending of his book, a book that he hasn't put out in the 10 years he's been writing it, since before the pilot was shot & a year after the show ended. It is now 12 years & he has yet to finish this book. I am content with the ending of the show as it was never about deserves, it was about what what was coveted by the remaining characters & fit in the puzzle pieces. One needs to re-watch the pilot episode to understand upon whom the show really centered around. It's all right there.

      There were no signs Dany would go off the rails and kill innocent civilians. She had an obsession with the iron throne yes but she showed compassion with the people who deserve it and the ones who didn't. The final season was just bad writing.

    As much as people hate this ending (I dont hate it, its just... fine. Not the best but also not the worst. IMO I've seen the Mad Queen ending coming all the way back in season 4 when I think about it), you have to give it up for that ONE scene of Dany walking while Drogon behind her extending his wings, making her look like she has wings. So bad-ass and I want it as like a wallpaper! Hell, I want it as a giant canvas oil painting!!

    What this show did to Tyrion is worse than anything else. He was the smartest character in Westeros, then after he escapes Kings Landing after Jofferys death. He never makes another single good decision the entire series, what happened? He became the dumbest character.

      If you are talking about the throne room sceen, if there is no roof and it's snowing, one could assume it snow. Plus Drogon wasn't covered in ash before John walked up it was snow.

    • @SerbAtheist
      @SerbAtheist ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MiyaElizabethReacts There is lots of confusion as to whether it is snow or ash. Both in the House of the Undying where you can see icicles and in the final episode, it's definitely snow. One can notice the weather starting to turn right around the time Dany is supposed to give her speech.
      The symbolism is obvious: Dany brought the winter with her. 'Winter is coming' was not about the WWs, but about Dany!
