    If Jorah had to die, I'm glad he went out fighting to protect Daenerys. Theon also had a great ending, he redeemed himself and died at home in Winterfell trying to protect a Stark.
    That's the best episode of the season for me.

    Thanks for getting this out quickly. Everyone complained about how dark this episode was, but it did make it creepy not being able to see what was out there. Remember when Melisandre reminded Arya that she would close Blue Eyes..that's when Arya went on her mission to kill the Night King. The drop the knife move that Arya used on the Night King is the same move she used when sparring with Brienne of Tarth. Arya is the greatest assassin after training with the faceless men and Sirio Forel. They and her dad would be proud.

    I loved Theon in this episode. The end of his arc was so beautiful yet tragic. I would’ve loved for him to survive but it also made sense for him to die like this. I never expected him to be the saddest death of the season for me, and I didn’t even care about him that much until season 7.

    Arya trained exactly for this - the fighting, the sneaking, the tactics. She just didn't know it. And Melisandre gave her the hint. I loved the episode, so tense! And I didn't mind the dark and the chaos because that's the way it is, it felt real. The hardest for me was Jorah. He was such a true friend and protector, he's been with Khaleesi since the beginning. He's her most important advisor, always with knowledge, wisdom and patience. And, of course he loved her. With Lyanna dying too, House Mormont is gone :(

      And we had hints….when Arya finally reunited with Jon, she came out of nowhere…Jon even commented, but it was anti-climactic…so it was easily missed. Then, right after Theon dies…watch the white walkers…the hair blows on one of them, and he turns to look….he didn’t see Arya…but he felt her wind…

    I love that Arya was the one who did it. Jon was the catalyst for the whole 'alive' side coming together. It could not have been accomplished without him. I've watched the series 8 times, and about 12 reactors, I still pick up things I didn't before. In my mind and heart, all of Arya's training was for this very purpose. Serio teaching her about switching hands with your weapon trick, chasing cats to become quick and light on your feet, fighting blind/in the dark with the stick. Jon kind of set a clue when he asked her at the Godswood how she snuck up on him (took me many watches to catch that,), that is also the direction she comes at the Night King, and at one point Bran did say 'nobody could kill the Night King (or something similar). Arya learned to be 'nobody'. She won my heart in episode one, I absolutely adore her

    I LOVED Arya saving the day here. After she spoke with Melisandre and realized she'd been kept alive for this moment I'm sure she took off running knowing what she had to do. The episode is really dark but I kinda like the frustrating feel of that and makes it scarier for sure and definitely best to watch in the dark.

      Bran gave Arya the Catspaw Dagger in 7x4, in the exact same spot that she used it in this episode to kill the Night King. I still wish it was Jon, but if I had to have a 2nd option, Arya would've been it and I was happy that she was the one who did it. A little disappointed that Jon and NK didn't get their 1v1, but Arya doing it was the next best thing.

    We saw season 3 when Arya first met the Red Woman, she told her she would close many eyes, brown, green eyes, and blue eyes. Then tells her, we will meet again. Flash forward, they see each other again, and Arya tells her that she was right, that she had closed many eyes, and she tells her again, brown eyes, green eyes, AND BLUE EYES. In that moment Arya knows what her mission has always been, and starts running, and you saw who she ran to!!

    The showrunners spent the ENTIRE series showing off Arya's stealth skills. Remember how she disappeared from The Hound during the Red Wedding? Remember how she sneaked past those guards to get back into Winterfell? She was the perfect/only person to pull off that sneak attack based on how long the show built up her stealth over the seasons. In the shot before the dagger drop, did you see how one of the White Walker's hair moves as Arya started her final sprint out of stealth? She was always destined to kill the NK as well. Millesandra saw her shut "green eyes, brown eyes, and BLUE eyes" back in season 2.
    Theon's purpose was to slow down the Night King juuuust long enough to give Arya enough time to reach the NK before the NK killed Bran. Bran knew that's how it was going to happen which is why he gave Arya the Catspaw dagger a few episodes ago. The more you really think about it and the more you re-watch the series, the more it makes sense. This episode will also make more sense after you finish the series and know the ending.

    • @MFBloosh
      @MFBloosh ปีที่แล้ว

      In the script, she was supposed to jump off a pile of dead wights, too... which they don't show. I saw people complaining about her being stealthy and seemingly jumping out of no where which is just one of the many dumb complaints. Legitimate complaints about season 8 do exist, but people choose to stick to "how did Arya be so stealthy" like she wasn't training in that exact type of combat for seasons at this point.

    • @shadysorkin9214
      @shadysorkin9214 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You can make an argument that any character was foreshadowed to kill the night king if you look hard enough. The line Melisandre tells Arya is season 2 is 'Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, eyes you'll shut forever' and is not in the books. It was just meant to iterate how Arya was going to go down a path of revenge and bloodshed since the writers at the time knew her character would reach the faceless assassins in future seasons. They moved the blue eyes to the end of the quote for the episode to insinuate it was intended to foreshadow her killing the night king, when it very clearly was not originally intended for that.
      Arya killing the night king is terribly written and makes no sense.
      - Why would the night king ever risk turning up himself? His death ends the war, and he has an almost endless army as his disposal.
      - Where did she come from? The way it is shot, you can see the night king standing in the middle of the grove with walkers surrounding him. It cuts to her flying from the air and stabbing him. Alright she's stealthy, but she can't teleport last I checked. You can't just shoot it with close ups and hope people turn their brains off.
      - What was the point of her learning to wear faces beyond killing Walder Frey?
      - What did the night king have to do with Aryas arc other than him I guess representing 'death'. There were no emotional stakes attached to this at all.
      - What was the point of the white walkers symbols, magic, or overall purpose in the show?
      Arya killing the night king is not as smart as you think it is. The writers said they did it because we 'weren't thinking of her at the time and Jon was too predictable'. Thats basically the sum of it and it shows. It was simply lazy.

    This is one of those episodes that I liked when first watching it, but liking it less the more I think about it. The White Walkers were always the major threat. The very first scene of the whole show was about them slaughtering some rangers from the night's watch. Seven seasons of build-up and they are defeated after the first major battle? A bit underwhelming. The "long night" was supposed to last for years, not just one literal night.
    But I suppose if you ignore the wider context, it is a decent episode in itself.

    Jon is a swordsman, one of the best in Westeros, so why was he up there on a dragon when he should’ve been on the ground fighting? Seeing him riding Rhaegal didn’t feel epic, it made me frustrated and annoyed. You could take Jon out of this episode and almost nothing would change - and this is the climax of his biggest arc. That’s sad.

    I don't care who took out the night king... I care about how. Someone just popping out of nowhere and ending the entire war with one stab was a stupid way to end this battle. Especially when the show was so wishy washy about why the Night King needed to go after Bran personally in the first place. If the Night King's life was the key to taking the entire army down, why did he even show his face anywhere? The key to taking the army down should've involved delving a bit more into the background and lore of the army. We still hardly know anything about them. Its like the only "mystery" the show wanted to solve was "whos gonna kill the night king".... Rather than actually unpacking what this entire army was ever about. Just very disappointingly simplistic. But I guess at the end of the day, the author of the books (George R R Martin) seems to have abandoned ever finishing his story, so I guess I can't be too hard on the writers for simplifying everything.
