Very nice stuff. These might be perfect for my friend who's on a bit of a tighter budget... Although I'm going to be honest... We've seen plenty of detailed fishing videos from Chris and Phil. Would anyone else be interested in watching a detailed video of one of Amanda's carp campaigns? I don't think we've seen that yet.

Has the line problem been resolved on these where it kept getting stuck under the spool, like on the vader RS reels, if it has I'll maybe take a look at 3
Looks like there's a guard now to help reduce it happening. Obviously still not in Mitchell MX6 territory for line-lay (even with the improved design here) but looks comparable with Shimano quality now. Generally, I love my Sonik stuff as it's great value for money but always had an uneasy feeling about their reels. These look promising though. Hopefully they've improved quality sufficiently to lose that uneasy feeling, intend to buy for my lad and try as they're sensibly priced.
I just got my two 9 yr olds a 2 sonik insurgent reels and 2 x 6 ft xtractor rods . Just over a 100 quid for everything isn’t bad at all . The reels are lovely looking and the rods seem spot on , not tested them yet but very soon .
Thanks for the overview. Not really a fan of the Sonik rods and reels (find the ranges a bit too overlapping, confusing). But,I am seeing the rods and reels at circa £50-60 each. Which makes them outstanding value for someone looking to tackle up for the first time.

Thank you Rich, I got into fishing through working for Angling Direct, I Started going out fishing with Phil Spinks on photography trips and he kept handing me a fishing rod! :D so its mainly his fault 😁 Brilliant little kit! I'm going to be using them myself 🤞
Id be interested to hear what Sonik fixed from the vader X range? The vader X rods are solid enough performance wise and they look the part, but the reels were all looks, zero functionality with terrible line lay and a clutch that would make even the most seasoned anglers look like a noddy. What did sonik fix internally with these reels because everything looks remarkably similar?
@@TurtlewaxGuild plenty of reviews online on the vader X reels stating the very same issues i experienced with both of the reels i had. Its not hate, its just an honest opinion. Like i said the Vader X rods are solid and perform really well, i still have mine any use them every session but the reels went in the bin after a few sessions.
It would be ok, but if you bought it from us and haven't used it we would be happy to exchange it for a dedicated fishing reel. Feel free to contact our customer services.
I bought 3 Sonic reels brand new. 1 sea cast real and 2 bait-runner 5000FS. Of the 3 reels 2 came with manufacturing faults. One had a completely stripped thread on the bail arm roller and the other had a mis-molded or mis-machined internal casting that resulted in the main shaft popping straight out on first use. They look fantastic externally but are so badly put together with very fragile internals. I will never buy another Sonik product again.

I'm am looking at getting a set of these. Never owned a Sonik rod, but used other bits of the kit and it has always done the job.

I use the Sonik SK-47 reels which have a guard underneath

The new Sonik HeroX reel are much higher spec, including worm shaft gears that make a BIG deference to the quality & performance.
The Vader Reels are insane for the value and dont have any of the issue's you mentioned. So either a hater or just got a dodgy one

I brought a spod reel i thought it was a carp reel is it still okay to use?

Sonik reels are quite bad let’s be honest hopefully they put some work and made this one better. Rods are sound I even use a Sonik rods. ❤🎉
You will definitely notice a huge improvement in the HeroX reels. Much higher spec, very impressive at the price point 💪
