    As a 10’ 3lb Insurgent (cork handle) user I can only echo your findings. Have been pleasantly surprised at how good they are both in casting and playing and they also look classy. I also have the 4.5lb spod rod to match and again it is excellent. Most rods I have had previously have been £300+ but for whatever reason I decided to get some cheaper rods this time around, I paid about £80 each, and I must say have had my eyes well and truly opened. Fantastic rods, great price and with a real premium feel. I highly recommend them.

    I've never considered a retractable rod cos to me the blank would be compromised where the joints are so this is eye opening - really liked how you did this test
    I use free spirit 12' ctx rods that per rod cost less than the rrp of the insurgents and not much more than the scopes

    This Is the only video that I’ve seen that actually shows a side view of the rod/ blank under compression like having a big fish on , this is the most important issue when purchasing a rod, not the bling, or lack of it in most cases, but what the actions like

    I have scope 10. 3.5 Cork and enjoy them very much but have recently got some insurgent 10 3.5 full shrink coupled with the 6000 insurgent reels I'm very impressed with the setup I work in France 🇫🇷 on a fishing complex and had some very large fish as you can imagine with France and had absolute confidence in that setup exceptional value for money 💰 so much so I've gone and got some insurgent 9 3.25 rods in Cork. Also at the moment if you shop around you can find them for very little money my 3 rods come to only 128 pounds brand new what a bargain for such great rods from sonik.

    Great test, these rods are the future,no more bulky rod bags,the wife and I both go fishing and I opted for four 8 foot and four 12 foot xtractor recon 3.5lb rods teamed up with 5500 and 1400ci4 ultegras, if we take both sets it takes up less space than a 3 rod holdal and they fit in the boot no problem,no more holdal all through the car,and the 8 foot rods fit in a suitcase no problem😁👍

    I appreciate the test, but don't really agree with the comments of 2 of the lads regarding the ESP Onyx Quickdraw rods.
    Using them for nearly a year now and managed fish to upper 50s from Belgium and France on the rods. They cast like a dream (solid bags 90yds easily with 18lbs mainline), play a fish nicely and they don't look too shabby either. The blank looks different yes, but not so to make funny cheap comments about them.
    Just my opinion though, and will keep on following the Carpology vids on a daily basis. 😉👍

    I use the Xtractor 10ft 3.25lb cork handles with Xtractor GS 5000 reels as a second (longer) set because I actually prefer 9ft rods. It's a decent enough setup but I would rather have a ceramic butt ring instead of the standard one that's on there. They do also have a tendency to twist a little so I find I'm often re-aligning them.

    I own 3 Nash dwarf 9ft spod rods 4.5lb test curve. I bought these to replace my 9ft catmaster rods, that I felt were too “salt water boaty”. The dwarfs were a fraction of the price. I’ve caught cats & sturgeon to 60lb & I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them & felt very assured in casting large weights & playing powerful fish. My local syndicate is also 30ft + deep.

    I'm the proud owner of a full set of 10 ft sonik insurgent rods, 3.25 test and thier 4lb test spod rod I also picked them up for around 90 quid each a few years back, the spod was a little more if I remember rightly. But I'm comfortable on small waters with them and I find them very accurate up to about 120 yards, if I really try and I wanna fish single hook baits at range I can hit 150 yards easy. I would recommend these highly to anyone if your the type that just want one set of rods to do all aspects of your fishing, top vid lads 🤙🏻

      @Captainraskett1989 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@damondyke2932 the daiwa is definitely the cheaper built product for more money, it's not retractable either from what I've seen, the guides aren't minimal guides and the butt ring is only 30mm I believe. This will drastically impose on your casting abilities if your trying to hit any distance. I am biased though the sonik as stated in this video are a high end rod and right now they are 79.99 wich is a bargain when original retail was 149.99 I think. In my opinion the daiwa is not worth the 99.99 price tag that comes with it for the very little it offers as a rod, its priced like desighner clothes your paying for the brand. I bought the Insurgent 10ft 3.25lb (cork handle version) last year. I chose it purely on its pack-down size (128cm) and price as a 'keep in the car' quick session rod. I agree with everything said here in the vid, its a fantastic caster and my 3.25lb version has chucked sizeable pva mesh bags with no drama. At 79 quid its a really good rod, if I didn't already have a set of 12ft rods I'd have got a set of these, the pack down size is very convenient and I like a cork handle. A line clip would have been nice (Sonic take note), even if that puts the price up a few quid its still a winner.

      Probably Daiwa didn't supply any. Usually they ask companies to supply rods for testing.

    Shame you didn’t compare the black ops, would be good to see if they worth the money too.

      The ext are better than the extractors, ceramic rings for a start

    • @twincamspit
      @twincamspit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@walkaz By "better" I'd agree that they're better looking; I do like the look of the ceramic inserts. I've got them on my 12's.
      But the 'minimalist' ones, while looking less impressive, are actually better for casting distance.
