Another cracking entertaining video, i have a few Westin Lures mainly soft baits i always seem to do ok with them, well done at least you not a blanker it's always hard in winter 2 Pike is better than none.
Thanks a lot mate 🙏 I added the shadteez and the bullteez to the tackle box after buying this one! Definitely great lures. Haha I have my fair share of blanks mate, lucky to find a couple here and there 😅
Those Ricky Roach are great lures. They work best when you let them sink very low and twitch up and then let them drop as you retrieve. I really think you should have a wire trace on the end though mate. It won't stop them taking I assure you. ATB MMMD.
I normally do that when using single hooks, when I have trebles I always think I'm going to get snagged on the bottom 😅 I've been using 100lb fluro on my heavy pike combo for 3 years now mate, never had one pike bit me off, and to be honest I doubt it's going to happen, I dont know if you can see well on the video but that's thick, feels like plastic nearly 😅 On my lighter combos I use wire trace, but they're not as resistant as the fluro, I need 80lb minimum to when I cast 100g lures they don't fly off mid cast if I backlash.
@@zombiebitefishing It's an interesting subject and full of pros and cons. On my heavy lures I use a wire trace with a very high breaking strain. Recently I pulled in a large piece of roof felt that somebody had dumped in the water, it must have been 30 lbs in weight and nearly bent the lure rod double. So a strong wire trace can take just about anything. Here's something to consider, if your fluorocarbon is so thick that it is like plastic, a heavy wire trace probably has a better action? People always think that fluorocarbon is the better option if you can get away with it, but when you get to the very heavy diameters, a strong wire trace probably gives you a better action. At the end of the day if the Pike want the bait then I don't think it matters either way, I really don't think it matters what the lure is attached to, because they take it all the same if it's the right lure in the right place. I always go with wire to be 100% safe but everyone is different and I respect that. The biggest problem is when people have Pike in their waters and they use thin fluorocarbon that is easily broken.
@MudMaxMetalDetecting I understand what you're saying, and to be fair until I started using 100lb fluoro on my heavy combo I had the same fear, but if you give it a try you'll see that there's no way they're going ro cut through that mate, I've been using it for 3 years now and to be fair I just replace the leader once a year just for peace of mind as I can't see any damage on it. The action is okay because it comes with a little barrel swivel at the end so the lure moves around as much as it needs 😁 but again, as long as it's not a thin bit of nylon or fluro it's all good they definitely go for the lure even if it was attached to a stick 😂
So annoying when that happens. Lost my first Savage gear real eel on the 4th cast 😢. After 30years of fly fishing, pike fishing with lures was proving expensive. Decided to purchase cheaper lures from Alli Express. Not quite the quality of Westin or Savage gear but at least I wasn't brought to tears when I lost any in snags.
I lost my Savage Gear eel on my first day using it as well, and they're quite expensive. I have plenty of lures from AliExpress, I've caught on most of them, as you said, not as good as branded ones but at least doesn't hurt as much when you lose on 😅🤣
Hello again fella, nice video, I've just got a ultra light bait caster outfit it rated p2,casts up to 5g lures, gonna pai it with 15lb braid, never used a bait caster reel before so I'd like to ask you a couple of questions, 1st do you think I should dial the reel in on the highest settings, it's got magnetic brakes 1 to 10 until I get used to it? and 2nd do you think it could handle a double figure pike due to its light rating?,keep up the good work
Hi mate, thank you! I would put the brakes in the middle, maybe on 6 maximum, but it all depends on how many grams you're throwing. th-cam.com/video/sG5Ogn_AUKY/w-d-xo.html See if that video helps mate. I don't know, I think that if you have enough line to play the fish you'll be able to land one, I caught an 11lb on a 2-8g with 10lb braid and a 6lb fluoro leader but took me nearly 10 minutes to land the fish 😅
What store should I visit next? Let me know!
ebay store mate, vintage pike lure challenge, min 20 year old 😂
@whitetroutchannel that's a great idea mate 🫡😁
@@zombiebitefishingtheres some decent old stuff on ebay mate still in packages 2 and not to expensive if you trawl threw a bit 👍👍🎣

Berkley URBN Flip Net!
yeah medium light for me mate
Yes mate, my favourite too 💪
I recon the lifespan of the average lure is one fish.
That sounds expensive, especially if we're talking pike lures 😅
Or one tree in my case....
Haha same mate 🤣 £10 straight to the tree 🫡
Ten quid in a tree ......my usual.
I couldn't believe mate, last time I lost a £20 savage gear eel too 😅 It's just sad, pike lures are expensive 😢
